A trip to the Netherlands in an untried and tested car. What could possibly go wrong?. Oh boy I'm looking forward to this adventure!! A new, more sensible vehicle? Looking forward to that too! What a cracking tidying job you've (Carly) done to the "unit" It's massive! Bob fully "erect" drying and room for betty. Hardest part is keeping it that way. Well done both of you.
Sometimes it's nice to have a bit of down time and do nothing. Fingers crossed the new car will get you to the Netherlands. Miss Hubnut doing a top job giving the Smart a clean up.
You should keep the Payero! Ideal four-wheel drive in winter.... 😊. I really miss the camping notes: when can we expect new vid's on camping? Maybe it's a better idea to sell the AU FORD. It costs an arm and a leg to run!
Would suggest hanging sheets from the rafters. Veticle obviously takes up less room and provides better airflow, so faster drying. After all, the awning already has the fittings to be hung
7 mpg was good and only for a short distance, my Series 1, 2 Ltr Land Rover only averaged 5 mpg towing 4 ton, had to use low range to climb any hill. May have been about 6 ton as the farmer loaded 10 buckets of spuds into the trailer, each about half a ton. Not surprising that the long rear half shaft was snapped often, the twisting was visible.
I was once following a very slow skip lorry up a very steep hill. It was only when I was able to over take it I realised it was being towed by a Land Rover 90..
Sensible new car you say? I would say something like a K11 Micra with a high mileage, short MOT and slightly crusty sills and arches which will need welding for its next MOT. Sound mechanically, so should get to Netherlands and back, economical, available parts, able to seat 4 and fodder for various family members to hone their welding skills on to get through the next MOT (with backup from Tim and Lewis if it all goes a bit wrong). Then very easy for Miss and Little Miss Hubnut to drive. However this is Hubnut so it'll probably be something, ahem, quirkier
I loved that video, and nice to see Betty inside the unit for once :) I'm curious what the more sensible purchase is going to be, personally I hope it won't be a Citybug. I've driven one a few times as a loaner when my car was in for repairs and I found it very uncomfortable to drive, very bouncy suspension. Perhaps an Hyundai Atoz might be a good option? Can't wait :)
A big old diesel estate that is in the historic class would do all the family stuff and tow the camper and any other trailer you might get. I know rust might be a problem so maybe a merc or volvo would do it. Get a 1984 or earlier and road tax and MOT would no longer be a problem . Spares wouldn't be a problem either. I know Japanese cars were your era but, as you have found out, the spares situation isn't the best. If you want something more reliable and modern but still cheap consider a Dacia Duster or Logan. I think the road tax went up around 2017 so anything before that should be low tax. I know they are not all that interesting but you need a core vehicle that will do all the day to day stuff and you can then concentrate on the rest. Look for something with a towbar.
I hear a schedule for a rotation of cars. Analysis of use cases, and provision for preventative maintenance. I foresee an ongoing saga of Order vs Entropy, in the Chronicles of Hubnut (Game of Spanners?)
@@hubnotes Good up date guys , I had a few cars I found it difficult to keep up the maintenance and running of them . Sold 3 cars now down to 3 , which I find easier to manage Do a few continental trips in all 3 at different times of year
Hmm sensible or HubNut sensible? lol. Good you managed to get a wee bit down time, we all need it at times. Would be great to see a TWK road trip, that's the one car I really hope you never sell lol. My mum and dad are friends with a couple and he did a lot of work on the Invacars up here in Scotland. He thinks he still has a brand new engine in it's cellophane wrapping.
From the photo Carly posted I don't think a video of you all wrapped up in waterproofs and fleeces would be getting the channels highest view numbers 😊. Carly, if Ian even mentioned Bella and TyG in the same sentence he deserves the hardest of Paddington 🐻 Hard Stares.
If only there were a way to install a car lift in there, then you could stack them up, leaving room to work in, definitely not room for more cars of course... :P
Glad to hear you had a good short break. Please can we have some more Bob videos! Love Bob adventures and your camping expeditions! ☺️
1:55 Ian: "Conveniently Tim at Cambrian Classics is getting a time machine fitted"
Me: "Eh?! 😮 Ohh.....! 😂"
That's what I thought I heard too!
That will be handy, he can fit the wheel last month now.
i still dont understand
@@collinhunter9792Ian referred to Tim having a tyre machine fitted. Some of us misheard that as time machine.
Loving the birdy accompaniment in the background.
They seem very vocal this year.

Absolutely brilliant video Ian miss hubnut ❤👍looks better brilliant well done for tidying
You’ve found yourself a brilliant manager, Ian 😂.
It's great to see the unit tidy, and Betty is in. 😁👍
Thanks for the update, great job guys 👍

another great video has always Ian and Carly miss/mrs hubnut and hublets and hubmutt 👍
I remember being in our caravan one weekend and our neighbours in their tent had to pack up due the the rain whilst the children 😢cried! So sad.

Ohhhh completely unknown! Sounds normal. Poor Betty......she's just big boned 😊
A little C1 would make more sense for a family cheap runaround guys 👌 that Red seems to have come up nice on the Smart 🙂
Video on the colour correction soon on the main channel. 😉
Can’t fault you having a family weekend away. New car! Interesting.
I do hope to see Bob out and about again, though I realise it's been more like autumn than summer.
Doing a great job miss Hub nut make sure he does not mess it up now you started getting it sorted 👍😂
Praying for a family modern 🙏
Um...
@@hubnotes oh my, do we have another windscreen wiper based purchase? Hubble-bubble boil and trouble!

Oooo I wonder what "sensible" new car will come to Hubnut!!
A "sensible" 4 seater but sized for miss hubnut? Have they found a Renault Twingo?
I know! Because he's picking it up from meeeee! And I'm not telling.... Needless to say, "sensible" is very much a relative term....
Toyota Yaris/Vitz whatever it's called in Wales? I think you could get very long odds on that.
Would love to see how the smart polished up before it disappears 🙏
There will be a video on that.
@@hubnotes excellent 👍
Coming up: HubNut Resort. Stay in Bob while you look out at the HubNut fleet. Bookings limited.
Trip to the Netherlands later this week.... Going to the Japan Classic Sunday?
Yup!
Sensible you say!? 😂 I believe it when I see it 😁
Pity you can't take the subframe and engine etc out of the Smart and put it in Tuk, could be an interesting project lol.

Loads of space.

Big diesels over 40 years old are pretty rare and pretty slow. Even a Merc 300TD is only 88bhp!
I think you are missing the point.@@hubnotes

Cambrian Classics is getting a time machine? Well, restoring cars is certainly the best use for the technology.
You need to get a couple of cars sold off the fleet to free up finances and keeping on top of maintenance
Buy more cars? Got it...

How big is your storage unit?
Glad you had a nice break. Betty is rather heavy on fuel but love Betty.
Nice 😊
Are parts for Hijets difficult to get do you know?
Daihatsu so yes sadly!
As long as the new car is HubNut approved.
Oh yes!

Carly, if Ian even mentioned Bella and TyG in the same sentence he deserves the hardest of Paddington 🐻 Hard Stares.
tyg is exactly where bella should be going , load of money wasted on that banger
i would've thought as the "family" car bella should be the absolute priority
At 7mpg you defiantly need Bella up and running properly just for towing Bob with her impressive fuel economy even towing Bob
Ooooo. Updates😮😊!
How about a smart 4,4 still economical and seat for 4 people (allergy).
Allegedly
We'd actually really like one.
Or don't - the back seat is the most uncomfortable thing I've ever had to sit on.

I'm handing it to the new owner this evening...
Guessing its a smallish car you’re getting for Miss Hubnut and little Miss Hubnut to drive 🤔
Lovely Betty! Will she be getting some cosmetics in the future?
No rush really. I like her patina.

About 550kg unladen, max 750.

Carly letting Chemmy go.......never thought that would happen ..or should i say possibly happen
Chemmy is only having a rest while we fix her up.
