    You can export your favorite changes made with Winaero Tweaker on one system and import them on other systems. Together with Bookmarks, that saves a lot of time hunting among the settings.

    14:35 HOLY CRAP. I've suspected for a very long time that Windows lowers the quality of wallpapers because when I use certain already-mediocre-quality images, such as from older games, I've seen the quality become far worse. I feel validated seeing this. This is an incredibly important option for people using older pictures on higher resolutions. Thank you!

    Do we have to worry about these changes reverting each time Windows does a major upgrade??? And if you use the portable version, won't these changes only take place when you run the program each time versus if it was permanently installed?

    • @CyberCPU
      @CyberCPU  Год назад +6

      The program essentially just changes registry settings. So as long as those registry settings aren't invalidated in the update they should work fine.

    • @infradragon
      @infradragon Год назад +5

      this is true, almost every tweak is done via the registry

    • @ZipplyZane
      @ZipplyZane Год назад

      Most of the time the settings persist through updates. But, if you want to be extra careful, you can save your tweaks so you can reapply them after an update if some of them get lost.

    The concern I have with all these tweakers is you don't know if you are creating security holes [apart from the obvious, like disabling windows updates]. For example, I disable power shell scripts by default, because a lot of malware uses power shell scripts. If you disable power shell scripts, you can still use power shell for individual commands. But if you want to play with something like this, enable power shell scripts, then afterwards, disable it again. Just my two cents.
    As far as I know, using control-alt-delete to get to login is a good security feature. It makes it harder for someone to get access remotely.

    I noticed that my wallpapers were not looking the same one day on Win10, I figured out that some of my wallpapers were .png files which looked the same whether they were being viewed or as a wallpaper. It was the .jpeg files that looked a little worse when they were applied as wallpapers. Thats when I did a google search and found Winaero for the wallpaper setting, I've been using it ever since.

    • @l11l1venom1l11l

      You can actually kill the desktop wallpaper compression in the registry as well. I've noticed that highly detailed wallpaper with a lot of red color would always get a lot of jpeg artifacts (common for the color red when it comes to compression), so it forced me to look into it. Luckily it's not a reg setting that Microsoft got rid of...yet.

    10:30 The Windows Installer is disabled in safe mode, so you do not install virtual drivers with it.
    Safe Mode does not "restirct" stuff, it is a seperate environment for drivers, that the normal mode *expands* on (and as such uses). In normal mode you override (system-)settings for the drivers rather than changing them for safe mode.
    However when in safe mode, installing a virtual driver, you *might* chage these settings for the vritual device to work properly, which windows does not like and opposes the "clean" state of safe mode.
    But I gotta say: Does not matter. Go nuts. You have to clean install windows anyways if something messes up your drivers lel. Also, the settings don't really matter for modern drivers anyways. Only the generic drivers get clunky and laggy (maybe). And the chance, you install the drivers this way is ... nowadays ... veeery low.
    It makes sense for a win-dev but not for a dev on win lel.

    I just ran across WinAero Tweaker a few days ago while trying to change the startup sound for Win11. Nowhere else did I find anything that was straightforward on how to do it - but accomplished it easily with this utility. Sure, much of what it does is simply customization and a fair bit of it is not necessary, but there's a bit of satisfaction in making the system behavior unique to you and some of the more "meat and potatoes" tweaks are truly useful and time saving.

    This is NOT an accurate program and you probably should not use it as a permanent installed software for your system. It's okay to play with on test system, but that's about it.
    It shows my OS as windows 10 version 2004 20H1 Pro Build 19045 2130 which is wrong because if you look up that build you will see it is actually windows 10 pro 22H2 which is what I have.
    It also shows my cpu as a Ryzen 9 3900, when I have a 3950X
    There are several features that you displayed on this video which do not work on this newer version of windows 10, including changing the text in the search bar, some of the disable ads features, etc. etc.
    When you choose some of those options, windows 10 will auto revert back to the way it was or not allow you to change those settings at all
    I run O&O Shutup and I also run windows 10 manager to force remove MS apps like edge, cortana, phone, all of the xbox garbage, help and tips, suggested apps, top apps, etc, etc.

    As someone with vision issues that has recently undergone cateracts surgery making those issues somewhat worse for the sake of stabilizing what's left?
    I love tweaker. It's a bit chunky to use but it gives back SOME of the fine granular control UI customization had in 9x, xp, vista, and 7. Why they went with this publicly facing 'oh you can only do things globally' nonsense baffles me.
    Literally made windows useable again.

    Telemetry is used by Defender. Not a big deal on a retail PC but if it is managed by and organization, especially if they are using Defender or Intune, it should always be on.

    If you use something like this keep in mind you have to run it after every single Windows Update, since they will overwrite any custom settings you have and install things whether you've allowed it or not.

    Do you know anything about getting Snipping Tool (version 11.2307.44.0)? It allows OCR extraction feature so you can extract text from screenshot images. I cant find it anywhere. I have Windows 10 on this computer and I really want that tool but I dont want to have to upgrade.

    My USB Flash couldn't be recognized by Win 11 laptop. I went all over the Internet for advice. My wife plugged it into her Android tablet. It was recognized and formatted. I took it back to my windows 11. It was recognized and reformatted. Thus, I saved a 32GB Flash drive from the wastebasket.
    Moral of the story: Give the sh*t to your wife! They stumble on stuff the experts have yet to figure out!
