You are a brilliant podcaster and interviewer. I wish more people could appreciate it. Keep up the good work and views will come. Great conversation as always.
I've been a podcast enjoyer my whole teen-to-adult life, and you have one of the best, most insightful, inspiring, and studied interview styles and guest selections I've ever listened to.
Loved the interview! I think it would be great if you could have a rough compilation of the books you use when researching topics and/or people in the description for those who’d like to delve deeper into some of the ideas :)
Only 30 min in but I just want to say the conversation flows so well, so many poignant points packed together, it’s like listening to a good rap verse. Dwarkesh >> Lex Fridman any day.
Dwarkesh, otherwise excellent, was out of his depth on market theory, talking about equilibria when discussing Hayek. Tyler was very kind. Someone like Boettke would have broken into a 15 minute explanation about the jarring premise of those questions. Something new to learn for Dwarkesh! Keep going.
for your audio, you need to add a hi pass filter to cut off the sounds below a certain freq. everytime you touch the table it sounds like someones stomping around upstairs. otherwise nice set and format
At the end Mr. Cowen says "Nobody writes a novel *about* the 20th century" if he means it in relation to the setting e.g. the science fiction novel develops in the 20th, I could cite at least "The Man in the High Castle" it's an alternative history, but still is in the 20th century.
What is the argument that many small businesses are started foolishly? I heard him say most do not innovate but I feel like I am missing something. What makes it a less good choice and what are the alternatives that are supposed to better? Also, better in what sense and for whom
I believe he is saying that you incur risk by starting a business, you make some return, and that on average, this risk vs return will not be better than working at some company and having a stable job.
Don’t know about the smartest, but definitely one of. His insightful and knowledgeable questions and reflections are what caught my attention and led me to subscribe and follow. Lots of very interesting stuff here.
He said if things went downhill, secular thinkers would go down in prestige, and hawks would rise if there is more war. Many of today’s hawks are secular. So if both occurred would it be a wash?
@@OOCASHFLOW It's interesting. Look up Robert Murphy, who is an Austrian Economist and has many videos explaining his vision for Market Anarchy (Anarcho-Capitalism). Most of the videos are on the Mises Media channel here on YT. His videos are: "The Market for Security" and "The Market for Defense"
Good interview as always. It always irks me when someone as smart as Dwarkesh uses 'wokeness'. Wokeness is here for a reason, and it has many beneficial attributes. It was also caused by easy to research historical realities. I know he's libertarian, but would he like me just dismissing libertarians as highly naive (which they are)? I could throw in there they support policies that cause social inequality, they over rely on markets, devalue public works, put too much power in corporate hands. Even that small amount is a more detailed critique than 'wokeness'.
Hope you enjoy! If you do, please share it :)

Thanks for listening
I agree, always smart conversations.
Again and again with the high quality guests. I look forward to your interviews more than anyone online. Keep up the great work!!
Much appreciated!

Babe wake up new cowen x dwarkesh just dropped 🔥
This is really, really good man. No idea who you are, but this is awesome. Thank you for doing it
Really impressive interview! I’d be lying if I said I followed all of it. You did your research!
Excellent episode (as always). Your interviewing / conversational style is top class.

Tyler is always amazing
Great work, appreciate it so much! Just a small point, captions get misaligned at 22:36 they are useful if listening at a higher playback speed.
Simply incredible! Thanks so much for doing this
perfect combo - can't remember a better interview 'bout anything by anyone (incl DP/TC with others)
I enjoyed it, good work! Thank you 💚 🥃
The subject of this book and podcast is the coolest concept ever
Great episode! Cheers!

they’re both good, in different ways, imo

What would be great is if you could add the relevant read works in the description
Great interviewer

Anyone have a link to the famous drone warfare video Tyler mentioned?

I had the same thought as you

great stuff!
Who else thinks dwarkesh is the smartest podcaster on earth ?
After Tyler
Nobody 😂
Hey! I make pods too!
😉
Just kidding, I’m not smart or make pods … 😔
Don’t know about the smartest, but definitely one of. His insightful and knowledgeable questions and reflections are what caught my attention and led me to subscribe and follow. Lots of very interesting stuff here.
Astute observation. He is absolutely the one of the smartest men alive today. No exaggeration.
where does the 2 percent number of financial to overall wealth come from??
i think the audio is too studio-sounded ;(
Miss the intro music
Should one conflate government central planning with private sector central planning?
Not that the example was indeed central planning.

Good video. Don't leave out #Mises!
What did you think about the segment on anarchy?

@@OOCASHFLOW For some reason, my replies won't stay posted.
Agreed
Universal law: Every podcast with Dwarkesh makes you smarter!
Weird stuff in the captions at 22:25
