I've been watching your channel on and off for a while. I love that you read the books you want to read and don't let trends, etc. have too much influence on you. This video was interesting because I'm not sure our tastes align too perfectly, but I still watch because I love the way you talk about books. Also, you two are an adorable couple and your reading dynamic is, as the kids say, goals. Thanks for making quarantine a little more bearable, and stay safe and healthy!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm finding a lot of comfort right now in booktube videos as well. And yes, now with libraries closed and no more used book shopping, my reading choices are going to be even more backlist than usual! :}
The playful energy between you was fun to watch. “A Prayer for Owen Meaney” is the only book I’ve read among the six on the combined TBR list. Taylor is in for a treat. There are a lot of laugh out loud scenes as well as bizarre and poignant ones. I look forward to your wrap up discussion when the project is finished. Stay well. [Are you conducting online classes?]
Yes, I definitely agree with your description of Owen Meany! I'm glad you support my choice :} And yes, we are in the process of transitioning to distance learning. It'll be an adventure, that's for sure :)
I really like this idea! I'm a bigger reader than my partner, so most of the books we have are ones I'm trying to get him to read. He's currently reading Vita Nostra and so it's been fun to be able to talk about shared books together during our self-isolation :) I hope this project helps you both break out of your comfort zones and have some fun things to talk about! Thanks for sharing
I think I made Taylor read Vita Nostra because that is a book that you just need to talk to another person about what the heck you just read haha! That's cool your boyfriend is giving it a go! :)
As a more mature (much more mature) reader, Frankenstein is about SOOOO much more than monsters wandering the mountains. I didn't like Holden Caulfield either. In high school they made us read Julius Caesar of all things. In spite of the fact that I will buy almost any book Al recommends by or about First Nations or Native Americans, which are expensive and difficult to find here in England (I'm from Michigan), I still have no intention to try Infinite Jest, and I hated Black Leopard-DNF'd it. Vita Nostra was weird. Still don't know what I think. Wish I could Come camp out in Ontario and do book groupy stuff. The Booker International shortlist being out now, I recommend Hurricane Season. Now I have to buy As We Have Always Done.
That gives me hope that I will like Frankenstein better on a second read! That is really great to hear that you are committed to reading First Nations literature even when it can be difficult/expensive to find. And thanks for the recommendation! I'm trying not to buy books at the moment... but I think I need to check out that shortlist >:)
Alex, did you like Vita Nostra? That book keeps popping up for me and the reviews are so mixed....it seems people love it or hate it. I'm super curious what you think because we have similar tastes in books.
I loved it! I can see why it's polarizing though since it is quite a disorienting reading experience. I thought the ending was really cool though and made all of the confusion seem worthwhile! 🙃
Two teachers at home assigning each other books to read ❤️ I LOVE IT!
Haha yep, gotta stay on brand! :P
A Taylor video! So great to see you both and what a fun challenge. Thanks for brightening my day.
Glad you enjoyed! Have a lovely weekend :}

Yay, this was great! I particularly enjoyed your reaction to the math book 🤣 looking forward to hearing both your thoughts once you're done.
Haha I still have recurring nightmares where I'm stuck in a math class... so that one hit me hard! 🙈
This is so fun to watch! Books and some background stories, perfect! 😊📚
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed this! :)
So precious. I surmise that each receives a worthy mission.
You guys are so cute together! More of this!
I too am Holden Caulfield. I love this idea! Learning and discussing different ideas is something we all need to do more.
Yeah I'm excited to try some new things. And yes, Holden Forever! :)

Yay! I'll be checking for the grand finale of this challenge. What fun!
Yes I will have to start badgering Taylot to start reading his books haha so we can share the results :)

You guys are amazing 😁 This is something I really would want to do with my husband one day ... Looking forward for the part 2 ✌️
Yes it's a fun experiment! Hopefully we will have positive results 🤞
I'm already looking forward to the update!
I've just finished one of the books-- so far so good! :)
Love this. You guys should do a "Couples who read" series.
Good idea-- I always like finding excuses to drag Taylor into my videos haha :)

- “A Monster’s Notes by Laurie Sheck is a cool book.
Haven't heard of it, but I'll look it up! Thanks for the recommendation :)
I didn’t care for Holden either! I didn’t read it in high school either and just read it last year and when I was done I thought, “what did I read???”
Haha totally fair! He is a lot to handle :P
That John Irving, blue paged editon.... what is that? Who put that one out? I cant find it anywhere
I love these editions! It is from the Vintage Anchor Emblem Canada series (hope that helps!)
@@bigalbooksforever oh my god thank you so much for replying! Subscribed! (Not for the reply but thank you!!!)

@@bigalbooksforever Ok, thank you so much, Alex! I really appreciate it!
I hope you two don't break up over this. ; )
That would have to be a really terrible book recommendation to cause a breakup LOL!
