honestly while i dont play them or even follow them much, these FGC videos are some of my favorite as most of these players have just the longest and most heartfelt background stories imaginable, from people growing up poor and using a local arcade as a get away from home, to not knowing if your parents trust your choice of what you wanna pursue to so much more, the history with these players is just not what you see with a lot of the FPS community, and I love every minute of these videos,
Tokido is one of my favorite esport player of all time. The story between him and Daigo is like those Japanese manga: He decide to become a pro player instead of studying his Med Master because Daigo announced to be the 1st pro player in Japan, he always want to prove he become stronger than Daigo, fail many time but never give up. Also what his definition of "Legend" in FGC is amazing. There is one time a reporter ask him this question, Tokido said: If there is an alien came to Earth, and it challenge 1 human to play SFV, if he/she lose, we all extinct, who will you gonna call? Tokido answer with even he will call Daigo to save the Earth, and Tokido said he hopes some day it will be him, that's what he call a "Legend"
Tokido doesn't realise how many people study his tactics. I keep on watching and watching and strive to have the same mindset. Thanks for all the crazy moments. You are already a legend. And great video !

Even though Tokido has beaten Daigo in tournaments before, the FT10 loss was still so devastating to him because the FT10 format is Daigo's greatest category, stamina and adapation. FT3's are like sprints, while FT10 is a grueling marathon, it tests the player's mental fortitude and sheer experience in adapting and reading the opponent. Like how Daigo's Vampire Hunter streak of 286 wins on a single coin demonstrated, Daigo has monstrous mental stamina and concentration, he is able to stay on peak performance for extremely long amounts of time. No one has ever beaten Daigo in an FT10 except Fuudo, which Daigo promptly defeated in a rematch. Daigo is too busy nowadays to do extensive training for tournaments, however if he knows who his single opponent is, he can study and learn his opponent like nobody else can, in a way he is like the Batman of fighting games, he is unbeatable with prep time. Until Tokido can beat him in an FT10, the format which Daigo excels in, Tokido will always see him a mountain whose peak he has yet to defeat.

Literally everything about this man is great ! Thanks for this video.
I love Tokido's passion and how he always being strict to himself to be the best. I am a huge Daigo's fan but when I saw the fight against Tokido at Kemonomichi and saw him crying, I realized his true passion. It was beautiful.
man... the humility that Tokido presents and the way he speaks about Daigo... makes me wish there was a long running FGC manga out there that tells their story. It's really amazing to see this kind of conduct in a community that often highlights bravado and trash talk. I think this video just made me a Tokido fan for life.

Sonicfox is great at multiple fighting games as well. I think if Tokido continued to play the other games instead of just Street Fighter he would have had more votes. The guy is obviously still good at other games as seen when he made it to 2 Top 8 finishes in King of Fighters XIII at EVO. One of them being in Grand Finals when he lost to Xiaohai who he had a close game with if I remember correctly.
It was fighting game player of the year, so really mostly about the year's accomplishments as opposed to an entire career spanning many years. And yeah, in terms of 2018 Sonic Fox was definitely the best.

Im really happy you gave Tokido the time in this video he so deserves. Whether he feels he is or not, he is absolutely a legend, or one of the gods, of the FGC, and is one of my personal favorite individual stories. Many stories told are those that sailed to great heights easily due to skill or lack of competition, but Tokido is a great case of never giving up on yourself and never settling.
Daigo destroying tokido in practice for kemonomichi against infiltration sparked tokido's desire to be the best, Daigo being tokido's motivation for perfection, and finally challenging Daigo in kemonomichi after being crowned first in the world, but only to be destroyed again. Tokido will forever chase after the back of Daigo, and there is no better story in esports than this.

@@kagerou254 I wouldn't say that it applies to other fighting games. While he is not playing them anymore, Daigo was a beast in every other fighting game he played. He gave Ogawa (who was considered the best player then if Im not mistaken) a run for his money in a Guilty Gear Xrd exhibition match. Nuki also likes to mention how good Daigo was in Darkstalkers back then, winning every tournament he entered. He is a man worth of the name Beast in any 2D fighting game he takes seriously for sure. But sadly he doesn't seem to have enough time for other games anymore and he is getting older.
Even though Tokido has beaten Daigo in tournaments before, the FT10 loss was still so devastating to him because the FT10 format is Daigo's greatest category, stamina and adapation. @@lilskunkmeat6976 The vortex is essentially a series of knock downs. And during an opponents knockdown the offensive player creates an ambiguous setup, forcing the knockdown opponent into a guessing situation. For example does he block left or right? If the defending player guesses wrong he then eats a combo which generally ends in another knockdown and the process is repeated again and again. It gets much deeper than that and if done correctly can be a nightmare to deal with. Tokido perfected the vortex style with Akuma, which eventually created a sort of meta in sfiv. Although I don't think it started in sfiv, it definitely became one of the most effective styles of play.
I remember when I first discovered Street Fighter in the summer of 2015, It was the end of my freshman year, I had only been out of school for maybe a week when I saw the "Games For Gold" section on my Xbox 360, the only good free game I saw for June was: Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. I had previously known it in the past from watching the notorious DarkSydePhil from 2008 - 2012 (Age 8 - 12) I knew of the gameplay a little bit from watching DSP, but it had been a few years since I watched him or anything about Street Fighter in years... So I decided to try it out. Within a month I went from having no knowledge of the game to having a full knowledge of all the character's moves and strategies to beat players consistently. I loved the fast gameplay, the many easy to learn moves and combos, the large roster of characters, but most importantly I was addicted to the feeling of beating another smart player through sheer real time skill and reflexes. I turned out to be a natural when it came to learning the characters of the game, by the end of the summer I had a C Rank with a half a dozen characters, along with a few dozen nice replays. I miss that game, I played it for a year and I got kinda bored of it and just moved on. It's been 2 and a half years since I last played a Street Fighter game, I might try to pickup Street Fighter V and get back into it, although I prefer SF4's style over SF5.
And then you have commentators saying that Sonicfox is a bigger legend than Tokido. Don't get me wrong, Sonicfox is a great player, but he's a thousand years too early to be anything like Tokido
very good point, but i think it's the impact that sonicfox has had that made him as big, unlike tokido coming 2nd a lot of times, sonic was often first and if he lost it would be a major upset which again would be hugely impactful. So it is his impact more than his actual creds that makes him bigger.
I think that's usually used in the context of "the now." Tokido is a bigger legend with more history, but this was the year that the eyes were on SonicFox.
I'm not into fighting games. Like few years ago I played Tekken 3, but lets me honest - I was a kid. Right now I'm into moba or FPS. neverthless, what I'm tryin to say is that I admire this people so much. I dont know combos, what they doing but stories are incredible and i love it. From zero to hero. Never give up. Chase dream. Fight.
and when Punk said that he is not in his best mindset for last year's EVO, i think it's safe to say that Shun Goku Satsu did it's job very well in a narrative way. That move destroyed Punk's soul.
He is the best right now. But its tight competitions right now. Tokidos consistency to always in high level performance in every tournament prove that he is the best

Nuki also likes to mention how good Daigo was in Darkstalkers back then, winning every tournament he entered. He is a man worth of the name Beast in any 2D fighting game he takes seriously for sure. But sadly he doesn't seem to have enough time for other games anymore and he is getting older.
Daigo is just the master of FT10's.
He also pretty much invented the vortex with Akuma is SFIV which transformed the way that game was played.
Leonard McDougall what's the vortex
Leonard McDougall thank you
@@IamLe7nny Isn't that why USF4 or Tubo was released?
@@dylancross1039 yeah that's right, they created new mechanics in the game to deal with the vortex in ultra
Great video as always
A legend was born but it is yet to end.
Amazing job. Thank you!
I remember when I first discovered Street Fighter in the summer of 2015, It was the end of my freshman year,
I had only been out of school for maybe a week when I saw the "Games For Gold" section on my Xbox 360, the only good free game I saw for June was:
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.
I had previously known it in the past from watching the notorious DarkSydePhil from 2008 - 2012 (Age 8 - 12)
I knew of the gameplay a little bit from watching DSP, but it had been a few years since I watched him or anything about Street Fighter in years...
So I decided to try it out.
Within a month I went from having no knowledge of the game to having a full knowledge of all the character's moves and strategies to beat players consistently.
I loved the fast gameplay, the many easy to learn moves and combos, the large roster of characters,
but most importantly I was addicted to the feeling of beating another smart player through sheer real time skill and reflexes.
I turned out to be a natural when it came to learning the characters of the game, by the end of the summer I had a C Rank with a half a dozen characters,
along with a few dozen nice replays. I miss that game, I played it for a year and I got kinda bored of it and just moved on.
It's been 2 and a half years since I last played a Street Fighter game, I might try to pickup Street Fighter V and get back into it,
although I prefer SF4's style over SF5.
I love how adding english subtitles it says taquito or tokyo though. Great vid as always!
Thanks theScore for getting me interested in the fgc!
Wow I'm really glad it did, not enough gamers are exposed to this great scene and amazing stories!
"Tokido... is someone so great."
Tokido doing the raging demon pose in front of the camera made him one of my favorite players
Maxmillian Dood got me into fighting games, TOKIDO got me addicted to it.
His English has improved so much. So stoked for tokido !
If you don't root for Tokido you're probably not a human.
mjkVT YOU AREN'T human
Or the first thing you ever saw of him was back grab infinates in soul calibur 5.
Nah if you root for tokido you are a devil
Tokido is a legend, so good at so many diff games
Got to meet him at Canada cup 2018. Such a humble person.
Waited for the Tokido episode so much :)
incredible video!! tokido is a legend.
I don't watch fighting games, but Tokido seems like a wholesome dude
And then you have commentators saying that Sonicfox is a bigger legend than Tokido. Don't get me wrong, Sonicfox is a great player, but he's a thousand years too early to be anything like Tokido
very good point, but i think it's the impact that sonicfox has had that made him as big, unlike tokido coming 2nd a lot of times, sonic was often first and if he lost it would be a major upset which again would be hugely impactful. So it is his impact more than his actual creds that makes him bigger.
Fox is often first in lesser games
I think that's usually used in the context of "the now." Tokido is a bigger legend with more history, but this was the year that the eyes were on SonicFox.
What can you expect from supporters of a literal actual furfag?
But Sonicfox is a furrie he is in another level entirely!
Fight.
Tokido's english is a national treasure. Protect him at all costs.
This was amazing !
and when Punk said that he is not in his best mindset for last year's EVO, i think it's safe to say that Shun Goku Satsu did it's job very well in a narrative way. That move destroyed Punk's soul.
Low tier god be like “what a scrub”
Because of his jealousy; he never win his first tournament in his lifetime, accept the Master of ragequite.
I have been a Daigo fan since Evo 37, but I will always have love for Tokido. His passion and unyielding drive gets me every time.
He is the best right now. But its tight competitions right now. Tokidos consistency to always in high level performance in every tournament prove that he is the best
damn. this 30 minute video is better than some movies out there. great job theScore esports. keep it up. hope to watch a video from admiral bulldog in the future. that would be great. hahaha
He's a certified legend. A true underdog.
Great work thank you
These fighting game docs always make me tear up
Even his documentary is Godlike.
Im not gonna cry.. im not crying... crying in the corner now..
This was really good.
Tokido is just a great human being. Wonderful video watched the whole thing no problem. I love the fgc
YESS GREAT VIDEO, LOVE THE FGC VIDS
