The *wood thrush* is a North American bird of the Passeriforme order. It is resembles the American robin, another thrush variation. The wood thrush is frequently spotted in North America; the bird migrates to Central America and southern Mexico for winter.

Since no one seemed to answer this question, the Arlington House is where Robert E. Lee, general of the Confederate army, lived before and during the Civil War. President Lincoln needed a cemetery in DC due to the countless deaths of the war and thought it would be genius to found a cemetery right in Lee's backyard.

The cherry trees in Washington DC are due to a gift from Japan which started in 1912. There's more history behind it, but basically our country has had cherry trees in Washington DC since Helen Taft and Viscountess Chinda of Japan planted the first two. They're a symbol of the friendship between America and Japan.

The reason why there are Cherry Blossoms is because early 1900's Japan gave the US somewhere like 3000 Cherry Blossom trees as kind of a peace offering or making right with the US. Just some history that not a lot of people are taught.

It was _far_ from "right before" bombing Pearl Harbor. The cherry blossoms were sent from the Japanese people and planted in 1912, before even World War I, whereas the Japanese Navy attacked Pearl Harbor in World War II.
The Cherry Blossoms were an honest gift of friendship from Japan at the time, and now that World War II is behind us they continue to be a symbol of a very close friendship between the two countries.

My mistake, Arlington House used to be his house. That's why Arlington Cemetary is there. They practically buried people at the doorstep to spite Lee.

3:38 - I've looked it up: Arlington House is a US memorial site to a Robert A, Lee; it has a greek style arcade pillar front. Wikipedia seems to cover the story about it quite well.

That last one was the only one so far where I got the answer almost immediately, only because of the E and apostrophe plus the fact that it was a phrase, kind of surreal just waiting for the answer to slowly dawn on them while already knowing it...

Being a regular dictionary enthusiast, I'm not that shocked that neither Emile nor Tim knew what a thrush was. It is kind of an obscure name for a bird.

  • @Noctis666

I'm often surprised when people don't know things that I know. I knew about thrush being a type of bird as well as a disease of some sort. So I realized it was wood thrush. I only realized it after Tim put "Wood" as the first word though.
