Thanks! Did you get the same one? We still love the floor. Before we installed the floor and fireplace, my wife said it was her most hated room in the house . Now it is her favorite :-)
I noticed that you add extra padding on the floor even though the laminate flooring had 2mm padding already on it. Could I asked why you added extra padding on the floor.
It was left over from our old flooring that we pulled out. We just left it and figured it would be more moisture barrier. I’m pretty sure these panels are made to not need any extra rolled out moisture barrier. I had planned to call a flooring company to ask, then never got around to it.
I enjoyed the video. I also bought the same from costco. I have one question. My house, like yours, has plywood floors. Laminate has a pad attached. Did you put a pad on it? Do I have to put a pad on it? I want to know your opinion. thank you.
With the pad attached to the laminate, I don’t believe you need the extra layer of pad laid down. We just left the previous layer down as an extra moisture barrier. So far we have absolutely loved the floor. Our 3 boys try to beat up on it and it still looks brand new! I hope you enjoy yours. You’ll have to let me know how it gos. Thanks for the comment! I hope you have a great day!
Oh man! I thought I had responded to your question. So sorry. Thanks for the compliment! I’ll have to look at the left over tub of paint when I’m home and let you know. Thanks a bunch for the comment. Hope you have a great day 😊👍
We have our three kids playing on it nonstop and it has zero issues. Our five year old constantly has hot wheels and toys all over it with no signs of any chipping. We’ve liked it a lot! I think most of these floors won’t hold up very well under the presence of a lot of water. You definitely need to stay away from spills and mopping with heavy amounts of water. with that being said, we have had no issues with water damage.
That’s exciting!! What color did you get?! Also, super good question. You don’t have to have both laid down. We just left the old one from the old floor and figure 2 moisture barriers are maybe better than one. Im sure it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference. You’ll have to let us know how it goes. Thanks a bunch for the question. Hope you have a good night
They do come with an underlayment pad. When we pulled up our old floor, we just left the underlayment that was underneath it to give double protection toward moisture. I’m sure you would be just fine using what is under each board.
I have been trying to install a Mohawk laminate floor for 2 days now. It is impossible to snapping/locking the planks in! They don't move when using a block and hammer! Any tips or hints?
I wish I had a specific way to do it. I remember we would latch the long side first by maneuvering the piece in at about 45* and would push down and in and it would latch. Then joining the end pieces required us to hammer against a scrap piece being careful to not damage the piece we were placing….so hard to explain in words. I wish you were a neighbor and I would try to come over to help.
What did you do for the transitions (laminate to kitchen, fireplace tile, etc.)? Were you able to get the Mohawk pieces of the same finish, or did you have to come up with another solution? I've got the same Mohawk flooring in a different finish and I'm having a hell of a time finding the quarter round and multifunction transitions for it
Yeah, We looked everywhere for transitional pieces and ended up having to go with the more expensive way, which was ordering through costco.com. That was the only way to find a perfect match. We ended up using quarter round pieces next to our back door and the T-shaped transitional pieces going from the wood floor to the tile. We ended up doing a rubberized caulk around the fireplace tile that looks really nice. I wish I could attach pictures so you could get an idea of what I’m talking about
I just bought 1200 sqft of it... have to do 15 stairs too and I am not looking forward to it but oh well. I am putting it in the whole upstairs.. kitchen bathrooms bedrooms... should be fun.... did you leave the 3/8 space along the walls? We got the same color... nice work
That’s awesome! We have loved it so far and it is holding up really well. The only thing that has disappointed us so far is that the trim pieces that we placed in between the flooring and our tile has seem to have shrunk about 1/8 of an inch on each piece. Around the door that goes to our basement I snugged it up right against the edges. In the bigger living area I did leave a space for it be able to move. I wasn’t too particular about leaving exactly 3/8 of an inch though
Absolutely! It was a ton of work! It’s one of those jobs that you feel like you can get done so quick and then when you are in the middle of it, you wonder why you didn’t pay somebody else to do it ha ha
It is now coming up on 10 months and we have three crazy boys that ravage that room regularly. The floor has held up excellently. Liquids have been spilled on it with no issues at all and many toys and things have slid across it with no problems at all. We absolutely love it! My wife always says this is her favorite room in the house now.
@@MECsnow we did look good feel the texture under foot so that is nice. Still have not installed transition around fire place tile.... the tile and floor are not the same height and I have to figure it out
@@tommytfaa That was one of the more difficult parts for me as well. I ended up just using a rubberized caulk in between the tile and the new flooring. It works out really well.
It’s as good as new! That is also the room that my five-year-old spends most of his time, watching cartoons and playing with toy cars. The floor has been great! We have loved it. thanks a bunch for the comment! I hope you have a great day :-)

Glad you liked it! What color did you get?

Looks great ! The paint goes perfect with it! What color is on your walls?

How is the flooring holding up 1 year later? We are concerned about newer reviews saying its not waterproof at all and chips easily.

Why are you adding a moister barrier down, since the planks have a moister barrier built in? We'll be installing soon and were curious. Thanks!

@@MECsnow thanks you for the info! We went with "Mohawk Home Millport Hickory Laminate Floor." Our project begins in about 2 months. Thanks again!
I am trying to do the same. Do they need an underlayment? I though they do come with an underlayment pad. Can you please suggest?
