Love the precision of the pilot’s transmissions and calm attitude. No need of an emergency. Very German. Good job by the ATC as well. Minimal transmissions. Quickly understood the communications and clarified when in doubt. No duplication, nothing unnecessary. 👍🏼👏🏼
I was wondering why that bird was kept here all week. Definitely a nice boost to the daily scenery! But when i drove by where they parked it, I noticed their techs were working on something in the nose. Never saw them touch the engines. Then again, maybe i missed it when they did. Maybe they worked an MEL of some sort too, or something. Was nice to see them do an engine ops check out on the taxiways. Even though they were way out 😂 Yes i work at BOS.
Barely, its soo underpowered if it looses 2 engines better hope its less than 50% loaded as it will crash otherwise. I think from the A340 video i watched years ago climb rate with only 3 engines is like 1000ft/min max (which is low for a jumbo)
Not the birds' fault. They were expecting the plane to fly far above them, but just didn't realize quickly enough that it was an A340-300 and was climbing slower than they were. :P
A340 is way too under powered for that, With just the loss of one engine it struggles to climb properly and is not like a 747 or A380 if it looses 2 engines you better hope its almost empty because it CANNOT fly on only 2 engines when more than 50% loaded.. A340 only just barely has enough power to get airborn when fully loaded (even then they have to turn off Bleed air and AC just to take off when full)
I understand that the airplane position and timing accuracy may be not accurate. But you can at least keep the track directions correct - if there's 180 or 360 deg, let it be vertical on the screen😊. Similar 90 or 270 deg should be horizontal. This note apply not only to this video, and even not only to this channel, but it's very annoying. Regardless of this, it's a great, well done job👍🙂
Most USA maps like this show the country on correct angle and map is not facing true north like other countries. So the 360 heading being on a slight angle to almost 11oclock position makes sense as north is 11 oclock on that map
I mean, Lufthansa's US maintenance hubs are in Florida and Oklahoma XD Also, A340 not the most common aircraft type with it's CFM56-5C engines (which are only on the A340-200 and -300) -> simply switching engines likely not an option and who knows where they got fan blades for it.
they would likely fly parts in from one of there Hubs in the States, if not from Germany... Not as easy as you think Jethro... I work for an airline and when a bird strikes, there is alot more to it than you think
This was not even a PAN PAN ^^. Lufthansa pilots very strictly follow ICAO and company SOPs. Side note: ICAO standard for a MAYDAY is current danger to the airframe / safety of flight / lives on board that requires immediate support and priority.
If I were you, I would delete such a misinformed comment. I wouldn't want to be caught posting such drivel online. And here is a recommendation: If you don't know what you are talking about, then shut up and don't embarrass yourself. Your further steps need to be that you google what those ICAO standards actually are and that you do some emotional development instead of being a misinformed oxygen thief.
@@lyaneris Overly complicated. The trend is to get rid of all that nonsense ...and just use the simplistic EMERGENCY. Whomever authored the ICAO procedures are likely in nursing homes or well into their dirt naps.
Gotta ❤ when they dump literally tons of jet A in the atmosphere. WTF cares about chemtrails when you have this happening every day somewhere in the world 😒
@malahammer you obviously don't understand sarcasm so let me break out the crayons for you. "People should not worry about chemtrails, they should be worried about the amount of jet fuel being dumped out of planes." Let me know if you need help with any of the big words.😂
Lufthansa NOT declaring an emergency will never get old. LOL
Our crazy german bureaucracy in case of an emergency😂
why should they, it doesn't seem urgent to me
@@Xg78 Nah, it's just another 4 engine plane lol
@@lyaneris
I know, it was a joke
losing 1 engine on a plane that has 4 isn't that big of a deal.

The Advantage of an A 340 in such a situation is that it has four Engines!🙂 The poor Bird.😌 Thank you very much for picking this incident up!👍

Yes i work at BOS.
Probably did some other maintenance. Good possibility they had to fly in parts for the engine, since it's A340-200/300 specific
🔥🔥🔥🔥 nice clip
Can an A340-300 even climb on 3 engines?

If you’re dumping fuel and returning after a bird strike…..you have an emergency.
Why?
Not the birds' fault. They were expecting the plane to fly far above them, but just didn't realize quickly enough that it was an A340-300 and was climbing slower than they were. :P
If there were no vibrations he probably would have continued :)

I think the slight offset has something to do with the difference between true north and magnetic north. Just a guess though.

Hello ,it's intressting that the "heavy ",Callsign ,is rarely used in Europe 🤔
Used loads in America though!
another emergency today?
Got to love the Germans, only girly men declare an emergency!
Love accents 😃
👍
Lufthansa does not dial 911!!😅
I don't get how he can refuse ATC instructions to climb, and dump fuel, but no emergency
6 days to hose out the bird guts and replace a fan blade or 2?! What a pit crew they have there at Boston 🙄
Needed a engine replacement perhaps and there are only 207 of the type still flying.

8000...yeah whatever 🤣
Oh my, a European crew not declaring Mayday and disregarding ICAO standards, you don't say. I was informed that never happened
Maybe because it was not a MAYDAY nor even an EMERGENCY but just an INCIDENT.

Should they land overweight and risk the life of hundreds of people? Is that what you prefer?
You probably should delete your post as you have said the wrong thing on so many levels. Chemtrails me bollix!!! There's no such thing.
Chemtrails are amazing
@Xg78 I prefer that they land and refuel if needed or make planes that can land with their takeoff weight or not overload planes to begin with.
