i never thought this day will come. Mojang added a feature that convinced me to make jumpboost potions
If only rabbit feet weren't as frustrating to collect as they are.
@@outcast4087Could be easily fixed if they gave rabbits the unique trait of having exceptionally large litters when breeding. Might also give them a niche as an early game food source.
Or wind charges
@@TwilightChomperEnthusiast could be upgraded to more than just an early game food sources (if they just make soups and potions stackable grumble grumble)
@@sovielovesyou3991 Don’t worry, those combat snapshots will be remembered _some time_ this century!
The mace is gonna be so funny when the dragon throws you up, and you just slam down and one shot him
Oh wow, I didn’t think of that. Depending on how easy it is to do (which is unlikely), they may want to fix that! Either way, I doubt patching out a cheese strategy is at the top of Mojang’s list as long as the bed method exists.
Bro you're genius😂
good luck with that one...
Put water below the portal, tower up from the center, wait for the dragon fly to there and insta kill it.
Edit: Well, you don't even need water because it negates fall damage...
I don't think the dragon can throw you high enough for that. You need some pretty insane height.
Really excited about the mace! I do feel it needs a 3d model like the trident has, as such a large cluster of pixels looks kind of weird on a weapon.
I also would love to see the heavy core get anvil-like gravity mechanics! With the mace being centered around gravity-based attacks, it'd be cool to see the core able to be used in the same way to drop onto enemies heads
Yeah it's weird looking on 2d
I’m not excited it’s such an odd weapon with odd abilities like what are the devs thinking? They added breeze rods to breeze mobs and all of a sudden had an impulse to make a new weapon with such random abilities
I think it wouldn’t look vanilla with a 3D model
@@kiz__Think about it from this angle, it's a new weapon that adds an entirely new combat style. Minecraft has never really had many 'class' options regarding combat. Outside of Swords and Axes, the only differing combat styles would be Bows, Potions, Pets, or I guess End Crystals? There's not too much variation.
The mace can be paired with jump boost potions and wind charges to deal a lot of damage while also engaging in a unique fighting style, I think it'll be really entertaining to see mace 1v1s on PvP servers.
I will admit it feels a little underdeveloped, and I think it could use some exclusive enchantments like what the crossbow got. But I do feel like this could be a good new addition if fleshed out
@@1TooManyToonsand I feel like it looks modded with the 2D texture xD
It reminds me a lot of something I'd see in Tinkers Construct or something.
Though, at the end of the day, whichever one we end up with will eventually feel vanilla. Just like with all the concretes and terracottas
Riptide + Elytra + Rain + Mace is gonna be so much fun
The mace removing fall damage upon hitting a mob makes me immediately think of the assassination achievement in Halo, which will most likely become a map design if this sticks around
The synergy with the wind charge reminds me of rocket jumping and market gardening in TF2
If they came to hear me beg
Say did they really remove that achievement from MCC? At least I did get my mister chief helmet...
It will stick around, it’s meant to be a combo weapon with a Wind Charge launch
...Minecraft Grifball...
note: the mace (currently) also works with elytra velocity
First we had Hot Guy. Soon: Scor
So the mace works with momentum or only fall height? Because if it's the former, you could just propel yourself with a rocket and then one shot stuff with the mace
Tbf if you manage to land a hit while using an elytra you deserve the high damage
@@rayquarizard2911 reminds me that x did do that wither fight that reached 2k blocks in the air, which shown it's a pinch difficult to hit things while zooming with rockets
@@daridon2483that’s exactly what i’ve been wondering all the time now, if it is momentum, it should be capped at terminal velocity when falling, idk the exact value of that
This feels like the air version of the trident. Would be cool to see a blaze/breeze equivalent mob that drops the ingredient for a trident, and unique enchantments for the mace.
The fact that you can't craft a trident is a tragedy. Maybe they could introduce an aquatic version of the Breeze that creates whirlpools that drag the player down (they could only spawn in deep ocean biomes and drop 'Benthic Rods').
if they did this, then there's also a chance of blaze getting a fire weapon
@@cheesymeatball174 that'd be awesome for PVE but for pvp i'm not sure if it'd make a huge difference considering fire resistence is a thing
Trident + Mace is a god combo by the way. If it’s raining, launching yourself in the air with a Riptide III Trident and striking down at mobs with the Mace is extremely OP and fun. You can 3 shot the warden without needing to build up 143 blocks.
@@IronDino the bathe
Waiting for players (GTWScar) to start naming their Maces 'Mace Windu'.
They added rocket jumping and the market gardener!
If God had wanted you to live he would not have created me!
Poot dispenser here
And a while back they also added buckets.
Mantreads when
@@UncleDavetf2I mean it’s kind of mantreads and market gardener in one.
With that mace, Etho is about to BECOME THE ANVIL.
Oh no.
Oh yes.
Oh no
*crashes through wall*
OH YEAH
then he only needs an anvil skin
This reminds me a lot of the Market Gardener weapon in Team Fortress 2.
You have to be launched by an explosive, then hit an opponent at just the right time to deal massive damage.
Just like tridents the mace will also end up as a gimmick which very few people actually uses but another cool weapon for us completionists is always appreciated
yes i dont see anyone replacing their sword or a use up a hotbar slot
I am more concerned that they added two new resources that will be useless outside of one craft, again
@@byeMauriceAlot. Mace is way better than sword. It won't be gimmick weapon.
You can divebomb one hit a player with no resistance, so it is kinda good, just that anvils fucking suck with repairing items.
I definitely feel like the mace not being enchantable is more of it just being unfinished, rather than a balancing thing. (like they even let you put Mending on a carrot on a stick) I do hope they add unique enchantments for it, and maybe make it a little easier to get (I don't want this to be another trident scenario where it feels too hard to get to be used as a viable weapon)
balancing is definitely an afterthought here at the moment yeah, the damage from the mace is completely uncapped at the moment lol
@@shmovinnn actually I think they should keep the uncapped damage, I think it's funny that you can just one hit kill the dragon if you fall from high enough
Tridents are easy to get in bedrock so they are viable on bedrock, java is another story. You have to either make a farm or look for underground ruins.
Yeah I hope this is not the final form. The concept is nice, but not beeing able to enchant it and put Mending or other enchantments on it would be a bummer and I would straight up not use it as much if at all. I'm not going to repair it every few hits if i jump really high with just 200 or so durapoints. Also with Mending it could potentially be really nice for new farm designs. Without mending, it would not be viable at all
@@anonymgamer3416 they could keep it unenchantable but then fix anvils so that they dont progressively use more materials to repair, i like that its unenchantable but it needs a way to repair that doesnt get to the point where you cant repair it
Personally I think the mace should be a 3D model like the trident
It would just look nicer
Same
Well it's still on snapshot so it will probably change
I get the feeling they’ll do that, this is probably just a placeholder texture.
Agreed, I think they could still be working on it though
Agreed!
Personally, I would've allowed the mace to "charge up" an attack to bonk with extra force. You could also make it a useful tool if the charged-up swing broke (most) blocks in a single strike. Sledgehammers WERE often used while mining, after all!
The mace is going to be so much fun. And I'm glad that they're making it so that you can only get 1 unstackable item in the trial chambers. Ps, those new banners and pottery shards are so cool!
Oh, the beacon particle tweak is clever, too.
The mace needs to be 3D. Tridents have a models, so should maces, especially when the heavy core is a cube. This does however make it more likely Mojang will add more unique weapons in the future and I'm here for it!
i have a feeling it's temporary, seems weird they'd add a 3d model for the core and have the weapon be a sprite
@@nohollawill defininetly get some sort of rework
A 3d model may take up too much screen space, unless they do it well.
@@Ethan13371 I dont think it would be quite and issue, itd probably only take up as much space as a block
I feel like they'd do it for Bedrock, but not Java.
I tested a few things for you!
Warden has 500 health points
and if you drop from a height of 143 blocks in the air and successfully hit it you can one shot the Warden!
Same logic works for the Wither!
Drop from a height of 86 blocks in the air and you can one shot the Wither!
I tried the ender dragon as well but I couldn't make it work.
That's really cool!
You only need to fall 100 blocks to kill the Warden in my experience
I managed to hit the enderdragon but I didn’t fall far enough, it’s definitely possible to one shot it however…
mojang is gonna regret adding such an op weapon
Only about 97 blocks to oneshot the Warden, though 143 also works I suppose
Thanks for your in-depth analysis of the mace and new trial chamber sections!
Thanks for making these videos so quickly! ❤

The wind charge already negates fall damage.
To be more specific, it only counts fall damage below the Y level at which the charge was shot.
Imagine the Mace with the Channeling enchantment. It'll be kind of reminiscent of Thor's Mjolnir
You mean mjolnir's hammer..
Ay!
Oooh. At the very least with the new selector changes it should be feasible to code a datapack that allows you to summon lightning with every hit (like they did last year for April Fool's).

I was initially hesitant about how the update was shaping up, and now I'm conflicted.
Imagine the cluches with the mace, like you see a sheep like 70 blocks below the ridge you are on and you go and yeet it out of existence to negate fall damage, pretty cool. And if your fast enough, there is a possibility of an armor stand clutch as well
The damage calculation for the mace is 7 * (1 + 0.5 * distance) * 1.5 (got by looking through code)
that makes a fall from 3 blocks 26 damage. christ

@@mehdithezer0_985 right now it doesnt, you can one shot warden from enough height.
it would be fun if the heavy core as an item had a fun interaction with weighted pressure plates
Now you’re thinking with portals
5:18 it actually did more damage cause you did a crit , only over the jump hight of the player does the maces effect work , so just jumping doesnt do anything
I feel like a new enchantment only for the Mace might make sense. Some thing like "Weight" that manes the damage increase faster with height but also increases your fall damage, makes you fall faster or makes the Mace take more damage from hits
Aha, this is smart, because it introduces a risk/reward situation
The mace is so cool! I bet there will be an advancement for doing the smash attack 100 or so blocks in the air.

i hope we see different types of "cores" found in different dungeons in future updates!
it would be cool if we got elemental heavy cores to make different elemental weapons, like a magma mace of frozen mace
different cores, but also using different rods! maybe a blaze rod one would light mobs on fire in an aoe instead of needing to hit each individually. maybe a "light core" to match with it cause haha "light" like "light on fire" but also to explain how it wouldnt have the same damage ramp up as the breeze mace
We already have the conduit, which is an ocean core, so maybe we'll have more head sized blocks that do fun stuff
this thing can deal over 84 damage from a wind charge launch...
Hopefully it gets nerfed, that's way too much,

the mace is an amazing addition, but it should definitely be 3d in my opinion, or at least 2.5d (half and half). great snapshot nonetheless!
I see what you mean, but I think that would look *too* modded-like
Eh, disagree. I feel like while the texture could maybe use some adjustment, making it 3d would feel funky and kinda "break" Minecraft's established style.

Heavy core reminds me alot of the conduit with how its looks and can be placed, would be cool if it had a interesting effect like the conduit
It does! You can craft it into a new weapon; the mace. It does more damage the farther you fall before hitting something, uncapped rn so it can oneshot withers and wardens. Also no fall damage after doing that.
@@iDrinkRaid_no they mean like placing the block itself cause otherwise it could just be an item
Its called a heavy core, so I assume that the copper civilization either used it because it was heavy, making an object with gravity, or, they used it for Redstone, as it makes you think of nuclear cores, especially with the copper feel of the trial chambers, or to do magic like whatever was in the ancient city, because in those days magic was common
Things I expect:
- the heavy core getting gravity, like an anvil
- someone to find a weird interaction between the mace and slowfalling or elytra
Already did, I tested it with an elytra. Doesn't work with velocity, but if you put yourself in a nosedive, you absolutely can make it deal huge damage. And I'm glad it is that way. Full protection IV netherite armour absorbs 95% of damage, so I'm extremely glad we FINALLY have something that mixes up the boring slap fight meta.
I am very glad aswell, slap fight meta look like 30 minutes to kill one dude when you're both full prot 4 neth@@jaskryn3316
It would be cool if banner patterns and pottery sherds could be crafter into each other.
Pattern+clay makes _stamped clay_ which you then smelt into a sherd. You keep the original pattern.
Sherd+paper makes a banner pattern as if you used the sherd as a stencil to cut it out. You keep the original sherd.
Maybe designs that are currently exclusive to one cannot be copied off the other? As in "if you have a Thing design on a sherd you can't use it to make the pattern, but if you have a Thing pattern you can make as many Thing sherds as you have the resources for."
I really like this, anything to give sherds more functions
Rekrap is gonna love this, with even more armor trims

Y E S
Y E E E E E S
At least you can go Riptide Trident + Mace in a thunderstorm ;)
you have the correct priorities
If a tool has durability then unbreaking and mending should apply by default. Then looting should apply because it’s a weapon. Other than that, if they don’t want enchants for the mace, then they don’t need anything beyond those three.
some others that makes sense is knockback , bane of arthropods, smite, knockback cuz its a hammer, boa because hammers squish bugs, and smite because like holy hammer (me thinking about dnd right now)
Looting would not work cuz it is not a sword, same as axes. But I do expect Unbreaking, Mending and the damage increasing enchants
@@NeedForMotivationnSharpness doesn't make sense for a mace because it is a blunt weapon. Smite/Bane should work well though
Hoping for channeling 🙏
agreed. Without enchants it is completely not worth getting, especially since the cores aren't renewable.
Mace damage scales by falling speed and it ALSO work with ELYTRA
Personal opinion that the mace should have a 3D model similar to the trident.
Like in bedrock?
@minestar2247 does the Java trident not have a 3D model?
One thing I do wish you could do is use banners on item frames- so you could have them flush to the wall (or air w/e) to avoid the "swaying" you get- would make decorating surfaces much nicer looking IMO!
Like in the quark mod!
If you can be bothered, make map art wallpaper
It would be dope if they made it so that breeze rods and blaze rods were interchangeable with sticks in crafting recipes of tools and weapons and give them a different effect
Yeah, at the very least for certain weapons where it would make sense. A blaze rod based wooden sword wouldn't exactly be a sensible option, but having a breeze rod based bow and a blaze rod based crossbow for example would be a nice expansion on this concept.
Try the tetra mod
@@remor698 It could be used to replace the flame and fire aspect enchantments maybe.. or knockback and punch... Hopefully with something additional though, maybe like an extra ability per weapon
Hey X, I just wanna thank you again for making these snapshot videos, especially near the start of this new hermitcraft season. Other channels cover the snapshot, but either fail to be as thorough or move on from interesting moments to quickly for the sake of pumping out a short video. 5:12 That was a Critical Hit (doable with any melee weapon), which deals 1.5x the damage whenever you fall while striking something.
the mace is cool but there should definitely be some enchantments for it, which would make it into a more specialist weapon like a trident. Maybe something that increases knockback to other mobs?

I think you should take reduced damaged instead of just straight up tanking it (like 80% less damage), and considering that the mace's head is a *Heavy* Core it should have a slower attack speed.
Aha, here is someone really thinking it on how to balance it, thats a pretty great idea
You should send that as feedback to mojang!
You should be able to add a chain to the crafting recipe to make it a flail. Gives it longer reach but more time between swings perhaps?
Should be more like a fishing rod in usage. Though unlike a fishing rod have a cool down.

I've been a little unsure on this update so far - the same thing happened with 1.19 and 1.20, where something didn't feel quite right, but with those updates, there was an aha moment, where it finally started feeling better. I think this snapshot is giving that moment for me. Before, the trial chambers kind of felt like a pointless addition that just added a "minigame" to Minecraft, but these recent changes are so, so cool. I love how they're fitting it all together with previous features and the mace is such a cool concept (if a little overpowered for now). I do also love how the breeze rods mirror the blaze and I look forwards to any more features the heavy core might get.
Its true, the past updates have been lacking support, and 1.21 i think is finally another pretty good update like 1.18 (well not as good). Also AHA! *Points spyglass*
Cries in inventory
Very neat idea, weapons and items that interact and change behavior based on player action while holding or using the item is neat.
i think the mace needs a texture tweak. it just looks odd IMO. maybe making it a 3d model like the trident would work
.
also, this update is building up to be so awesome! tbh I was kinda underwhelmed when they announced it, but after all the stuff they've added since, I'm super hyped for it.
I agree with making it 3d. As is, it looks too much like an axe
FINALLY SOMEONE. It's ugly as hell.
I’m quite enjoying how things are shaping up here as well. Mojang certainly has gotten better at delivering the updates with more than what we expected, however I feel like that’s only half the package. I feel that they should announce a bit more initially, because right now Minecraft Live is a whole lot of nothing. Add it to the fact that it’s always announced shortly after the mob vote results, everyone is pretty riled up anyways, making a much tougher crowd.
I think the simple shape of the triedent works very well and has to be 3D when thrown. But i find 3D weapons in mods for the most part very goofy looking. So i hope they dont go too far with the mace.
Im gonna be honest i was happy with this update as soon as i got my hands on autocrafting and copper bulbs. I even liked the changes they gave to the copper bulbs as then the builds i tried to make with them actually functioned the way i wanted them too.
@@helmenhjelmen1955 PheonixSC actually uploaded a video where he made a custom 3d model for the mace, and it definitely looks odd there. maybe it could work with a few adjustments, but I think mojang actually made the right call now

TF2 Rocket jumping
when the wind charge I expected something like this
but I thought what would happen is that what the mace does is just given to the shovel
Would be cool if you could craft Heavy Core with a Blaze Rod to create a different weapon (maybe a tool with auto smelting)
What would take the Mace to the next level would be if you could right-click with it to shoot a wind charge projectile (it would consume one from your inventory like a bow consumes an arrow)
That way you can do some awesome combo attack by launching yourself in the air to slam dunk on a mob/player
You can already do that by putting the wind charge in your off hand though
As the other guy said, you can just do this with the off hand
But I appreciate the thought for those unlucky of us that can only play bedrock :)

I don't know how I feel about the mace being enchantmentless. Maybe exclusive entchantments like for the trident and something to makes you choose between mending or not like with the bow. I like the risk reward of having to basically clutch a jump by hitting or taking fall damage.
Still in development
trolldier mains eating good next update
I suppose the kinetic energy is taken into account when using the new weapon. That is probably why you do not take fall damage, you supposedly transfer all your energy into the mob.
I kinda hope the Heavy Core is added to Trial Spawners, or has a low chance to spawn in mob hands.
That way the Mace is renewable and has a higher chance.
Because Vaults are still one shots, we don't need a player mobbed by the server to steal their Mace.
Xiuma showed you can get it from using a key on the spawner thing. Those loot tables are separate for each player right? So no scarcity problem for the server.
@@grandmoffjake6871 Vaults are one use per vault per player. It's entirely chance to get a Heavy Core, so if a few players are lucky in a server they could be hunted.
Or you can just use some other lootboxes. Trial Chambers probably won't be the hardest thing to find and finish. Especially if you have enough resources to hunt other players - you probably have enough resources to just make one extra Vault.

The last couple of snapshots are really great, love the new mace
You should be able to hit the ground with the Mace and create an impact radius which knocks back all nearby mobs and entities.
It does that, but nerfed version, meaning to hit an entity to get the shockwave
I wouldn’t call that nerfed, since you’re simultaneously inflicting quite a lot of damage to a particular mob while inducing Knockback, it’s actually a more powerful action. I think separating it into a different action with different result would make it a more interesting and dynamic weapon. best update since 1.16, might even be better than 1.16
@@aetheriox463 Nah it's nowhere remotely close to 1.16
it adds variation to weapon choices for sure, but in normal day to day survival gameplay, it is kind of a niche that you use once because it is cool
Very cool! Nice video ❤
