Fun fact Ojamajo Doremi was insanely popular in Catalonia (part of spain with another language, catalan). I watched the full show (4 seasons) in catalan on TV. When the movie came up the local government of catalonia team up with a dubbing studio and released a super nice special edition of the movie on DVD (dubbed in catalan and spanish). Movie was okay, i really hope for an anime version of the Ojamajo 16 novels.
It was also super popular in Italay we also got all the 4 season + the OVA + the movie. It basicly filled the gap in betwin the Sailor Moon mania of the 90s and the Wix mania of the mid 2000s

Fun fact: An Italian dub of this movie was announced by Anime Factory/Koch Media but to this day it hasn't been distributed nowhere in cinemas, and we're all like ???¿¿¿??
It's kinda sad that the english dub didn't make justice to the movie whatsoever. In Spain, the show might have not been the most known kids anime but it was still pretty big, and that the main cast voice actors were SO good at it was part of the reason why. So it was a big enough deal for the movie to be released on cinemas in both the Spanish and Catalan dub, with the original cast of course!! And you could buy the DVD too. So hearing what happened with the English dub, almost no announcement, no credit to the voice actors, all things that one would consider neccessary for it to be good... It's really a shame :(
Getting a cinema release and a DVD in English sounds so much like a pipe dream I didn't even consider that promotion until now 🥲 Lmao we were so screwed, but I am also happy that Spain got the release done right 💖
The 4kids dub sounds better then movie honestly, it does sound like how a dub back then would sound but oddly enough Doremi was pretty good for back then. But honestly I got to use to the sub version.
It’s so weird the voice actors aren’t credited and the company who actually did the dub didn’t even announce it at all. It makes me feel like nobody actually cared about it but if that were the case then why go through the trouble of dubbing it in the first place? Is Doremi popular enough in Europe to be worth dubbing it with zero promotion? Ah well, I guess it’s better than nothing. 😔 But I really hope the series gets a proper dub someday like Sailor Moon did, I don’t mind the cheesy 4kids dub but I’d love to be able to watch Sharp and the rest of the seasons in English.
Doremi did really well in most European countries it released in (France, Italy, Spain) and they received their own respective native dubs! But the English has suffered so much sadly 🥲 The 4kids dub introduced me to it while it was airing, so I loved it! But it's sad to look at it in retrospect and recognize the problems with it that have kind of put us where we are now 😣
Magical Doremi never aired in the UK. I'm British and it was my special interest as a kid ^^; I know Popgirl did air Mew Mew Power and Pretty Cure but never Doremi.

this whole situation is a lotttt like how it is for fans here in brazil. there was never a proper brazilian dub of doremi afaik, if there was it wasnt properly archived or marketed, and the only portuguese dub is european portuguese which is... very hard to understand for brazilian portuguese speakers. its basically impossible to find doremi content in portuguese, let alone in understandable portuguese for me, so i can relate to wanting so badly to be able to support it in your language and just. being unable to! it also sucks so much that they didnt credit the voice actors, damn, voice actors really get no respect in the industry huh. hopefully though this dub will make way for more doremi stuff in english (and maybe even other languages! i can still dream about a brazilian dub!), maybe even a redub of the original like was done with sailor moon a while back!

Wow I didn’t know that, I’m from Portugal and it’s somewhat easy to understand br-pt. And it’s so odd because usually when I try to find content of shows I used to watch as a kid I only find the br-pt versions and almost nothing or straight up nothing in pt-pt I loved this show so much as a kid, still do, shame that I won’t be able to see it in my language, only DragonBall is popular enough here to get a pt dub for their movies :’((

I'm here because i was searching to find the eng dubbed so i can watch it while i work on stuff, and was very surprised it never got a dub in english, i watched it as a kid in spanish
I... I have had the movie sitting on a USB drive since the fansubs came out. At first I told myself "I don't wanna watch it alone", so I didn't. Then I asked my wife if she wanted to watch it with me, and surprisingly she said yes. I expected her to say no, since she's not really a fan of anime... And then I knew... I actually wanted her to say no, because I need excuses to avoid watching the movie. I... I wanna watch it, but also I don't. If I watch it, then Ojamajo Doremi will be actually over. As long as I don't watch it, it's not over. Kinda pathetic, huh? I know I'll be an emotional wreck if I do watch it. Darn, my wife and her support! She didn't want to watch John Wick. Why couldn't she say no to the Ojamajo Doremi movie like she did with John Wick?

Small correction : the french dub of the movie isn't out yet. Also Pop does have a line by the end, with Doremi, around the tree scene. Yeah, imo Mire was seriously miscasted. But I didn't know there were no credits! We stan Beth.

I’ve never seen any Doremi. But I have heard of it very randomly. Basically I heard about it because I used to buy Naruto manga and in the manga the author does these little note pages about their thoughts. The mangaka on one note page was describing his childhood and how it was traditional to present three objects to a young child and to see which one they select. As kind of an indicator of what career they might be inclined to. I still remember that story because it was so funny. The mangaka he said as a toddler both him and his brother were presented with a paintbrush, money and something else that I don’t remember. His brother apparently was hesitant but chose the paintbrush. But, the mangaka apparently immediately grabbed the money laughing like an evil villain. 😂 But, anyways, in that note section he also mentioned that later on in life he was obsessed with a show and he learned how to draw the character correctly. And it was I think this show. (Don’t kill me if I’m wrong). But, in any case, it is strange to me that some companies aren’t trying to get their hands on an established show. It makes me immediately wonder if there’s something strange with the licensing or something. There must be some red tape somewhere. Because there’s such a huge market for anime you’d think some company, even if small, would be tripping over themselves to get the rights to it. I mean, for example, back in the day Dragonball Z was literally dubbed by a completely unknown studio at the time. Of course the dub ended up being a passion project and extremely successful. Companies are always looking for product. So, I wonder if it’s something more like the Japanese owners won’t sell to a small studio, etc. Or if there’s now more difficulties with international distribution.

The only way i found out was through *ytps*😭 and then a clip of the pre opening scene As a language nerd, I'm really interested in the dubs a show gets around the world and the tweeks they make in adaptation, too sad that they don't get documented as they should Like, did you know almost all pretty cure seasons got dubbed into serbian? They have they're own terms and call cures "warriors" or "girls" in later seasons lmao There are also two voice over dubs (a female voice reading translated dialogues over the original audio), But i can't remember to which languages And so on-

Because to my knowlage there isn't one, the only dub than i know of is a work in progres fun dub from "Re Magi Studio" but I can find nothing about any official Italian dub. If somebody knows anything about it PLEASE let' me know, I would love to be able to watch the movie in my mother language.
I spoke according to the information on Anime News Network. Looking at it now, it does just list an Italian distributor company, so it might have been subbed in Italian and not dubbed. My bad for that mistake if that's the case!
