yeah, we desperately need a new version of DS1 and 2. Although I think the graphics in DS2 aged quite well because of a distinct style. @click4gameplay: wait, until you open up an MP session in DS1 and realise there is a complete SECOND game world to explore in Multiplayer (which should also work in SP).
My love for DS2 is immeasurable, game was made by pure love for the genre. All the puzzles, secrets that big easter egg questline leading to the meeting with devs... chef kiss
Actually in Dungeon siege 2 you don't have to run back to your corpse when you die. You can just talk to the guy near the town teleporter who will return all your things back to you minus the amount gold you droped on death. Now if you go back on your own you can retrieve all your items without loosing any gold altough it is of course risky. Edit: You can open all inventory at once in DS 2 there is button for it.
for an ARPG there is a lot of hidden story content in DS2 with all those little personal quests, dialogue and banter that make many of your companions more lively. Also there are giant level complexes hidden besides the linear path. There is so much side content modern Devs would fill a complete game with. Also: the expansion!
Make sure to get your hands on Broken World expansion for DS2, which adds formations and new content to DS2. It actually wraps up the DS2 base-game's story, since DS2-base left on a cliffhanger.
Picking things up for resurrected DS1 characters for your next playthrough: Position them on their loot pile, select only them, press the bag-like icon in the downright corner. Also CTRL+F1-8 creates groups, selectable by F-Keys. Nice video, i love these games!
The first game is an undisputed masterpiece. I remember playing it as a kid, and the adventure you set upon is second to none, it left quite the impression on little old me. Great retrospective, thank you!
@@Fragenzeichenplatte More or less. I understand that the game may be outdated by todays standards, I also understand that it may've been infested with bugs as well, like @Alex-ii5pm mentioned. But at the end of the day, it was one of those classic games that are worth spending your time on undoubtedly even today. Consider the time it released, 2002. Back then having an RPG like this, that is very similar to the original Baldur Gate games and in some ways even improved, was a very big deal. There weren't many like this, and especially not as interesting as Dungeon Siege 1, I suppose Neverwinter Nights 1 was the closest "rival" . I strongly suggest you guys re-install it and maybe you will enjoy that adventure, many games (even today) pale in comparison, creative effort in the gaming industry has become a very rare thing....
While DS 3 is not much like the great first two games, I still had a good time with it because of the writing of the story/characters and the gorgeous look of the game. Obsidian always manages to pull me in with there writing, even when its my least favorite game from them with DS3, I still enjoyed it for what it was. Combat was clunky and it didn't have much replay value, but even Obsidian's worst game was still enjoyable for me. While DS1/2 are more about fun gameplay and replay value for me, DS3 was more about the writing and the great visuals/art design.
The soundtrack for DS3 was good, but it was so drastically different from Dungeon Siege 1 i absolutely hated it by the time i got to Stonebridge in 3. I just installed it at the point lol. Im glad someone got some mileage out of the game.
Its heartwarming to see you review this underrated series. IMO, DS1 and 2 were like as if Diablo and Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale had a love child that turned out pretty good and unique in its own way. I agree with most of your critique points about Dungeon Siege 1 but regarding the point where certain enemies can blend in with environment making it harder to see them, I think that's a good thing not a bad thing because, it added lots to immersion specially when you factor in the game's lore of said monsters like the white wolves. I remember certain NPCs and books in the game mentioning that the creatures in the snowy area were hard to detect and as harder as this made the game, I appreciated how it matched with lore and gave the enemies a smart and lively feel that enemies are using tactics against you like natural camouflage. I'd also love to add that Dungeon Siege 1 is one of my favorite childhood games if not the most favorite alongside Warcraft 3 (The RTS game not WoW) I still remember to this day how scared I was as a kid of that chapel/shrine within the graveyard in the swamps level area and as soon as I picked the artifact within the chapel, headless zombies and crawlers started zerging me from everywhere. Took me a good while to muster my courage to get past this place as a kid. I also remember how fast my heart was beating when I finally beat the final boss in DS 1 and how fascinated I was with how weird the Droog race was in the game and with the big dragon fight or those tunnels early in the game in Wisren Cross where you'd find those mucosa mobs who looked like huge humanoid roaches as well as huge spiders that ambushed my party. tl;dr Dungeon Siege 1 is lots of nostalgia and fond memories for me personally. But the best thing about that game, IMO are the secrets. This game was full of secret areas and treasures and hidden areas you'd find off the beaten path which sometimes included interesting elites and items and so on. I understand why Dungeon Siege 3 was ill received by the series fanbase. I was kind of disappointed by them changing the series genre like that as well and would have preferred if 3 was a spinoff series instead. But credit where its due, I found 3 to be a fun couch coop ARPG. I was also pleased to see how it pays homage to some of the companions and factions you meet in Dungeon Siege 1 but I disliked how they decided that Dungeon Siege 1's MC was "Lady Montbarron" instead of keeping it as a nameless hero courtesy of the main character we customized and named in Dungeon Siege 1 Also, while 3's lore was not the worst thing, I didn't find it as good as neither 1 nor 2 Dungeon Siege 1 had best lore, IMO out of the trilogy but I could be biased due to nostalgia. I honestly just loved the parts with the droog and the seck's conspiracy.
Looking at Dungeon Siege 2's UI feels like retrieving a memory very deep in my psyche, it feels really weird, it's like I've only just seen it and clicking it yesterday, even though I haven't played the game in years.
Make sure to play all expansions, now that you are thinking to return to this series some day. Legends of Aranna, Broken World and Treasures of the Sun. There is also a spinoff, or whatever people are think about it, Space Siege, a sci-fi version of DS. Keep up the good work!
I wonder if you already found any item for secret Mysterious Mystery quest in DS2, which doesn't even named in your journal. Wonderful game with one of the best side quests with funny dialogues, really good for that time period, and not only, to be honest)
@@bulthaosen1169 They're cheap in small amounts but crippling in the early game when you'll be chugging the things constantly. Putting everyone on autocast healing means that you'll still gave healers in play no matter who goes down, plus I think it helps spread out the mana drain a bit

Great pick. DS is one of the foundational 3d RPGs for sure. Just a minor point - "That's going to change as soon as you start the game. Yeah, very convenient." Well, of course it is. Would you rather play a farming simulator until the actual adventure just randomly begins? Edit - "the tutorial is 4th wall breaking..." Character name? C4G lol.

Wow, I just started replaying DS1 just yesterday. I have the original CD, on Steam and GoG, but had to "find it" online if I wanted to play the expansion. Edit: I had strong Morrowind/Obliivion/Guild Wars 1 vibes regarding the music in DS1. I quick google confirmed that Jeremy Soule was the composer.
Suillad mellonamin! I have played these games a lot, particularly ds2. This video brings back so many good memories, its great you covered theese games!
Yeh I remember modding the hell out of these games :D... Those were the days. Played a few years ago COOP with a friend on the open world map. Multiplayer map is open world !. We had fun.
What a coinkidink, I just so happen to going through DS2 and played through the first one year or so ago. It's good to see some love to be given to these games. As a side note for DS2: Z to auto-collect items and necromancer by the town portal will get you your gear if you TPK.
The first one was truly a unique little gem, one i have very fond memories of. The second sadly, i never finished, it departed too much from what made the first one be what it was .
You have to do the DLC's for the original, you can also transfer your character to online play too, which the server isn't up anymore, though still fun to play the missions, and run through the levels. You can get better weapons, and armor as well. I've played this game since release, still one of my top childhood games of all times that I still return to play now, and then.
Ah DS1 was my hangover game. Absolutely loved it and especially the multiplayer map which you can play in single player. oh and legends of arana dlc was awesome. Loved both DS1/2 but sadly not so much 3, sad.
Sacred 1 and especially 2. but no classic companion system. Amazing and basically made for multiplayer though. One class can summon undead companions. But otherwise multiplayer is the way to play it And Champions Return to Arms. Has local coop. Plays like dungeon siege and has same atmosphere but you can play as panther or lizardman too
When i see the first pixels in dungeon siege 1 running towards the bridge - i wanna play it. Music amazing - areas amazing the loot is really really good. The environment 😂❤
Just an fyi - the less characters you have, the faster they lvl up. If you farm enough, you can finish the game with a solo char. I remember going through the first zone in DS2 at least 6 times with my warrior giving myself a headstart and then just making an easy work of upcoming chapters haha. Btw, i wonder if there is anyone who remembers the chicken level in DS1? 😁
Bro I love the psp version of dungeon seige and this video lead me to find your awesome channel, I will definitely watch more of your videos, but if you are planning in checking rpgs on PSP definitely check Lord of Arcana, there is an improved version called Lord of Apocalypse that only came out of japan with more content, there is an english patch however, I have never tried it myself but apparently is even better. Anyway, awesome video I liked and subscried after the first 10 minutes.
Good video! I liked the first game though I never finished it. The third game was so much different that it was difficult to believe that it was the same series. I did manage to beat the third one on hard, which was sort of interesting, but consisted in a lot of dodge rolling.
Nice! You can use upscaled tectures for DS 1 and 2. And both games have tonts of cool mods for quality of life and more lile axtebdet inventory, new or modified spells or play as any creature from the game and many more.
7:19 there is a button for automatic loot collection (little bag near the party management options) or hotkey (check hotkey section in options, there is a lot of QoL). I have more than 1000 hours in DS1 (95% comes from single player campaign), the party is highly customisable (for example pressing F1 can selsct all of your melee characters) and a little bit of game knowledge helps. For me DS1 is the best of all two DS games (DS3 is not DS in my world) ;)
Big thanks to you matey, you make the night shifts at my creepy hotel go much faster! Is dungeon seige 3 worth playing at all? Ive seen the xbox360 verson on sale on xbox sales sometimes and it looks alright.
Yk I remember watching a video where you mentioned having the need to play game series from start to latest release or sm like that. I think I’m the Witcher 1 video. I’d love to hear more about jt cuz it sm I deal with too.
When you retry DS 1 you should really try its extension Legend of Aranna, it is really good. Though I think the only way to play it now is the pirate way since it isn't available anywhere, or maybe there is some way to mod it back into the game. There were also two smaller official addons called Yesterhaven and Return to Arhok that you can dowload on Nexus.
Really loved the idea of a party based action dungeon crawler, basically just Diablo with a group. Feels so much more realistic, a group of adventurers. Still hate pause combat, though.
I know there Was a addon for dungeon siege 1. But i cannot find it anywhere. Do you know something about it? The addon Was great and i highly recommend it if you enjoyed dungeon siege 1. If i remember correctly it Was called something like "legends aus aranca" something like that
Here's a fun Fact you can play couch co-op in Dungeon Siege 3 so grab a friend and an Extra controller and share the adventure!! It's a fun game i know im in the minority but i really like the story and combat is not bad.
Never ever put your party on 'Rampage' in Dungeon Siege 2 *unless* it's to deal with the chaff enemies that die within 1-3 hits, the AI isn't smart enough to be left alone in combat (Like what happens at 16:53 with a total needless KO that just made the fight harder for no reason) You should almost never be leaving 'Mirror' mode Swapping between different weapon types mid combat also drastically weakens your characters for the long run. Choose a weapon and stick to it exclusively
Don’t worry, I didn’t play these games either when they first came out. (Played Blizzard games in their heyday instead) I remember reading pcgamer about them though and always wanted to try! Good to see they mostly all hold up even 20 + years later
always wanted to play dungeon siege but when i actually decided to jump on it the 3rd was coming out and i figured id wait on the review and everyone was bashing it so i never got to try the serie but from what ive seen it looks like a predecessor of dragon age
Wow you played with dynamic character shadows in the first game without tanking your fps? Also check out Ross's Game Dungeon episode on Dungeon Siege ;)
Dungeon siege 1 and 2 were those games I never finish myself. So long and repetetive. But the mechanic for new spells in defeated enemies are actually cool

Multiplayer map is open world !. We had fun.
playing the first dungeon siege was an eye opening experience
Ah, there's a nice nostalgia trip. It's a shame the expansions for DS1 and DS2, Legends of Aranna and Broken World, are so hard to obtain.
Love DS1 especially from childhood
What a coincidence, I was thinking about playing it too
I'll never forget Healing Wind sound
DS 1 Soundtrack is top tier
Эта серия рпг всегда будет у меня на первом месте. Каждый год нахожу время чтобы перепройти все три части, и, иногда, псп версию.
dungeon siege 1 is such a fantastic game... The definition of comfy hack and slash. The fact you have 0 loading screens is so fucking good.
A video about PSP ARPGs would be amazing
What a coinkidink, I just so happen to going through DS2 and played through the first one year or so ago.
It's good to see some love to be given to these games.
As a side note for DS2: Z to auto-collect items and necromancer by the town portal will get you your gear if you TPK.
Hello there my Click4Gameplay youtube personality
Creepy.
i always loved the music of dungeon siege!! i can still listen to it today and it's as epic as the first time i heard it ^^
The first one was truly a unique little gem, one i have very fond memories of. The second sadly, i never finished, it departed too much from what made the first one be what it was .
23:00 yes you can open all inventorys at once in DS2 there was a hotkey for it mm shift+B ? I honestly cant remember
You have to do the DLC's for the original, you can also transfer your character to online play too, which the server isn't up anymore, though still fun to play the missions, and run through the levels. You can get better weapons, and armor as well. I've played this game since release, still one of my top childhood games of all times that I still return to play now, and then.
I've always loved this game series. With the exception 3 though.
These are neat games. Thanks.
Ah DS1 was my hangover game. Absolutely loved it and especially the multiplayer map which you can play in single player. oh and legends of arana dlc was awesome. Loved both DS1/2 but sadly not so much 3, sad.
You gotta play the DS1 expansion Legends of Aranna!
Dungeon Siege 2 is still my favorite game we need Dungeon siege 4 similiar to ds1 and 2
Really need a proper sequel for dungeon siege 2. It was sooooo good.
I love Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 were amazing. Is there anything out there like it.
Sacred 1 and especially 2. but no classic companion system. Amazing and basically made for multiplayer though. One class can summon undead companions. But otherwise multiplayer is the way to play it
And Champions Return to Arms. Has local coop. Plays like dungeon siege and has same atmosphere but you can play as panther or lizardman too
Nice @@AbuHajarAlBugatti
@@creatioexnihilo7080 nice
Many an hour and multiple playthroughs have been had with DS2
Love Dungeon Siege II !!!!
I think i still have the orignal 4 cd's somewhere :)
When i see the first pixels in dungeon siege 1 running towards the bridge - i wanna play it. Music amazing - areas amazing the loot is really really good. The environment 😂❤
Did you know there's also a Space Siege game from Gaspowered Games. Also check out the concept for Wildman. I wish they would have made that game.
Iv been meaning to finish 2 for a while now, these games are really good but I do hear 3 is...eh haha.
Thanks for this! Ill be sure to dive in soon ^^
For DS1, the expansion needs to be modded in separately.
Dungeon Sage has an adaptation by Uwe Boll. This is some serious shit!
Nice! You can use upscaled tectures for DS 1 and 2. And both games have tonts of cool mods for quality of life and more lile axtebdet inventory, new or modified spells or play as any creature from the game and many more.
Video #4 of asking for Siege of Avalon please 🙏🏻
Don't worry m8, I'll cover it eventually in my hidden gems or trash videos.
Haha - 'The Dunkey.'
I love the accent!
Played the third one some time ago, and enjoyed it.
One of my favorite rpg !
In DS1 you can toggle on health bars by pressing z or x
7:19 there is a button for automatic loot collection (little bag near the party management options) or hotkey (check hotkey section in options, there is a lot of QoL).
I have more than 1000 hours in DS1 (95% comes from single player campaign), the party is highly customisable (for example pressing F1 can selsct all of your melee characters) and a little bit of game knowledge helps.
For me DS1 is the best of all two DS games (DS3 is not DS in my world) ;)
I loved Dungeon Siege back in the day, watching the PSP version, I remembered several PS Vita arpg games. Could you make a video about them ;)
Shame the GOG collection doesn’t have legends of Aranna. Has anyone found it?
Big thanks to you matey, you make the night shifts at my creepy hotel go much faster! Is dungeon seige 3 worth playing at all? Ive seen the xbox360 verson on sale on xbox sales sometimes and it looks alright.
Yk I remember watching a video where you mentioned having the need to play game series from start to latest release or sm like that. I think I’m the Witcher 1 video. I’d love to hear more about jt cuz it sm I deal with too.
The collection is $3.69 right now at cdkeys
He doesn't miss....HE DOESN'T MISS!
A moment of respect and admiration to the guy that modeled all female characters in dungeon siege 3 with only one hand
It's reverse starcraft. Instead of an rts with one on one combat elements, it's Diablo with rts elements.
I know there Was a addon for dungeon siege 1. But i cannot find it anywhere. Do you know something about it? The addon Was great and i highly recommend it if you enjoyed dungeon siege 1. If i remember correctly it Was called something like "legends aus aranca" something like that
* "legends of arancar"
@@DDxSTYLEDungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna , it's like a DLC
Yup. But it is not available in digital re-releases.
You have to mod it in.
Here's a fun Fact you can play couch co-op in Dungeon Siege 3 so grab a friend and an Extra controller and share the adventure!! It's a fun game i know im in the minority but i really like the story and combat is not bad.
Never ever put your party on 'Rampage' in Dungeon Siege 2 *unless* it's to deal with the chaff enemies that die within 1-3 hits, the AI isn't smart enough to be left alone in combat (Like what happens at 16:53 with a total needless KO that just made the fight harder for no reason) You should almost never be leaving 'Mirror' mode
Swapping between different weapon types mid combat also drastically weakens your characters for the long run.
