I just bought these . Have set them up and have started listening. I am liking what I hear. They are definitely a step up from Denton 80th anniversary. They are barely broken in at 4 hours of running.
@@AnalogueInTheUK They have the same charecteristic sound. But sound bigger more detailed . The tweeter is better . Good thing is they are not bright. The bass is more textural. Their vocals are better too. Dentons are smooth and a little less detailed.
I get a chill down my spine when i hear about the 3xp lintons. I bought a pair couple of years ago from one owner. Not a scratch. All they needed was 1 tweeter replacement, which i did finding an exact spare. Gave them away to a homless charity. Bonkers. The wood finish was superb along with the silky brown grille. Sound wasnt amazing but looking back i should have at least replaced the caps with film ones. Ill always regret it. Probably been pissed/shat on now by a tramp using them as a make-shift bed. Sigh😢
@@CM-dw3gh Damn, those poor speakers. I have bought a couple of pairs of them since writing that comment and I find that they sound really rather good. Nice all round sound, capable of some big sound and able to handle my Roksan K2 with ease. Might have to check out those crossovers next.
I'm waiting for the stands that were in the launch video to appear. see if they follow the Linton path and offer both as a deal. seems a bit strange to me to release new speakers without accompanying stands.

You're great at this John. Love your videos. All the way from America. Audiophile porn at its very best.. Imagine the next statement in the best Essex accent..."Quality!" 👍
As a Hi-Fi enthusiast of 45 years experience, I've always believed the source is the most important part of a system. I recall Linn's mantra was, "garbage in, garbage out!" However, Paul McGowan of US firm PS Audio, believes the speakers are the most important part of a system! He's wrong. Start with the source!
😂😂😂 Most important thing is the room. Then position of the speakers. Then the source, BUT!!! Source is the master, no DAC or player. Then the speakers and their directivity. Then the preamplifier and then power amplifier. Or integrated. Then loooooong time nothing and then speaker cables and then interconnects and then looooong time nothing and then power cords and conditioner and then isolating stands for cables and at the same time transport to the madhouse. 😂
Wharfdale speakers used to be cheap back in the day (before you were born). I had a pair of Super Lintons before my mate blew them up at a party. These days how much? I think I'll stick with my Tannoys thanks.
I've not heard the Mission 750 so can't comment, I have owned a few Mission speakers in the past though. I have a real soft spot for the Sonus Faber Lumina II, I think they are wonderful, it is a tough one though. Personally I would happy to own either the Lumina II or Super Denton! Both are a lot of speaker for the money. I'm not choosing, pick if you like a retro looking speaker or Italian furniture.....they both sound excellent in my opinion. - John
Hi, I've not heard the current bookshelf AE speakers so it wouldn't be fair to comment. I have only spent time with the AE Corinium (very nice indeed). - John
For the price, I'm not impressed with the craftsmanship, the front baffle and grill is not better than Denton 80th, soundwise it depend how good your amp is, if you want high fidelity go with some purifi board amplifier, my experience with Denton 85th is it's a bit too bassy and rough on upper midrange, I feel the shape is a bit too fat to me? Well I like the big mid range unit and binding posts though.
Nice, just that tight & risky single layer packaging with these flimsy foam pads...quite annoying as usual with IAG! When parcels like this hit edges exactly "mid sidewall" there's usually a high risk of damage! 'Have had issues like that more then once unfortunately. Q: Quality-wise (crossover components, tweeter...), if I got it right it's a step above the Lintons, so not just a miniaturisation. Am I correct?
@@Peter-TysonYou said You preferred the Super Denton over the Linton. Why could You elaborate. Do they sound noticeably better or do You just prefer them for their smaller size.? Could You share Your thoughts on the sound Quality of Super Denton vs Linton. Thanks
You can if it's good gear. But I agree you should also try a digital source. I think a CD player or digital source will always have better stereo separation.
I have one vinyl record that I couldn't believe I had. "Sounds better than a cd" is what I kept hearing from people. Well out of the hundred or so albums I finally have ONE that does indeed better than a cd. It's my go to album for testing any speaker. So it's possible to test vinyl on today's speaker.
Hi David, I don't blame you for thinking that but this is not endorsed by Wharfedale in any way. I am pretty much free to say whatever I like and we can pick and choose what we sell. I'm not afraid to say I'm not keen on something, for instance the KEF UniQ drivers in my speaker comparison videos. If I REALLY don't like something I tend not to film it, I've had that with a couple of products so far. All the best - John
I have heard him say many times if he is not impressed with anything or if they don't float his boat. It's all subjective anyway. There isn't a "one for all system" what suits you may not necessarily suit me. Only way to know is go and have a listen for yourself. If you disagree that's your prerogative. I remember him reviewing the Bang and Olufsen Beolab 90s and thought he was over praising them. I went to the Manchester shop and heard them myself. Oh my God. He understated them. Can honestly say I've heard nothing like them.
Sorry you didn't enjoy it. Measurements would tell you what my listening room is doing, 'sound demos' over RUclips mean you are listening to my room, recorded on a Rode microphone, put through Premiere Pro, compressed on RUclips and played back on your headphones or speakers. I don't understand what you would gain from that, it has no bearing at all on how the speakers sound when sat in front of them. Maybe this channel is not for you, I will never do 'sound tests'. - Best wishes, - John
Yes so true and sad people want tu judge hifi by listening to them over phones or maybe be other equipments. But the bottom line is the sound is compressed and crap. Sad again we dont have huge showrooms where you can walk in and listen to everything. So in a way the present day is not for hifi unless you have a thorough understanding and knowledge about the equipments. Yes dome tweeters are always better than horns when it comes to analog sound .
@@saikatbose8370 Everyone who enjoys streaming from RUclips know how clean sound they get. Only audiophools think file compression should results sound compression and distortion.
