Nah, he probably got most of her feathers wet, we just can tell that well because even non aquatic birds produce oils (from their butts) which they spread on their feathers to keep them clean and insulated, which also makes them not appear wet. It's not as impressive as watching beads of water roll off a duck's back, but it's similar. It's the downy feathers that usually show a bird just had a bath. And yes, I've spent a lot of time watching my budgies bathe.

There's still room for improvement. Prior to the current remodels they had a polar bear that was clearly distressed and would constantly pace. Zoos need adequately sized enclosures for species to thrive in.
Really nice watching this cute bird taking a bath. I think he needs an upgrade to a full-size tub though because he did the best he could with the sparse water - he washed the important parts, LOL!
Aww, a young one. How lovely.. Nothing fancy needed, just a couple of pints of fresh water daily. A bit of copper piping helps to stop green algae & wont harm the wildlife at all.. Thank you for this!! 🦉💚

Did you notice that the shaking of feathers isn't audible at all, just the splashing of water? Owl feathers are so constructed that you don't hear them in flight. That's how they can catch their prey. I've experienced once, in a remote forest, that 3 owls came from behind me, when I walked on a path, flew right over my head, without a noise. I watched them fly into the forest, a magical sight!

I’ve always loved Owls. All sorts of Owls. Wish there were a rehab center nearer to me but I live far away from anyplace that does this where I could volunteer & learn rescue & rehab. Unfortunately I grew up in a very large poor family & realized early on that the few dreams I wanted to grow up & into becoming as an adult, was just not going to happen! But I certainly got to see the few selections that were Native Species in the Appalachian Mtns of Ky! Nothing better than sitting outside on a very dark night & hearing only the sounds of nature!
I always love to see birds bathing. But owls are my favourite. Thank you for sharing this. So cute. Besides birds get never completely wet since they wouldnt be able to fly with wet feathers and couldnt escape.
