I have been through something similar with in laws. I'm allergic to many things. However cats, dust mites and plants seem to be the worst. My in laws home is full of cat hair, dust mites and plants galore. I was kind and grinned through it the first few times, but now we stay at a hotel because it takes around two months to recover. Anyways, always thought maybe I was just being extra so it's nice to hear of other folks who have allergies have similar experiences.

That was a pretty funny story. When I went from Bradford (yeah Yorkshire) to the US I had horrible allergies. Thank God for the Allergy shots I had for a couple of years. I'm so much better today. I would be a little concerned about the throat closing since that can become serious. Keep up the stories. I can so relate to you coming to America stories.

This story reminds me of when I took my boyfriend (he's American) back to Singapore to meet my parents for the first time last year. Except we did have to use his epipen and there was a trip to the ER the day before we were scheduled to return to the US... He's okay though but it is quite a story to tell.
Haha! My son is SUPER allergic to dogs and wild grass, like break out in hives instantly sort of thing so when we’ve had family visit with a dog, basically my son has to be on two allergy meds and constant changing of clothes, wet wash cloth on the eyes. He’s basically a mess from March-july (yay PNW high pollen counts!). Thankfully we have forced air with filters so he spends time inside when the pollen count is super high. Allergies are no joke!
Fun story, when I was in middle school I went to a not super close friends house to (ironically) have an Agents of Shield marathon and spend the night, and we hung out outside and I’m UNBELIEVABLY allergic to pollen, so by that evening I was sneezing nonstop and couldn’t open my eyes and all my facial orifices were leaking and oozing and it was VERY unpleasant and her older brother had to go out and buy me allergy meds lol, not the in-laws but it was still very awkward!
