  • With starting to work on our 1943 Case tractor, we will have lots of parts to clean. We need to make that process a little easier! We set up and test a Harbor Freight parts washer and we hope this is the answer for our part cleaning dilemma.

It works great! I just scrubbed out the oil pan on my case today and it made it so much easier. I learned something about it to day too. Scrape out all the sludge you can before you put it in the washer. I thought that the cleaner would dissolve all the sludge but that is not the case. Big clumps of stuff floating in the solution. Oh well I learned!

you could get a bucket heater from a farm supply store and put it in the washer ?

That's a good idea I was just worried about the corrosive nature of the cleaner on the heater

I think I'd take the pump out and bring it in the house. It looks like that wouldn't be hard to do.

That’s a good idea. I’m just not crazy about brining an oily pump filled with corrosive cleaners into the house. That may be what I end up doing anyway. Thanks!

Did you end up changing water ratio? I know it’s says about 1-20 but I feel it’d need more solvent. Than that. Also any issues with freezing in winter?

I did not change the ratio from when I first added it. However that mixture ended up being more like 1-15. I was really happy with how it cleaned. It did freeze solid over the winter and I just brought the pump into the house to keep that from getting damaged. The tub held up fine.

@@JustCaidsDayFarm you might be able to use some heat tape wrapped around the tank and motor... if you decided to start keeping it out all winter
