Hey everyone! I hope you liked the video. If you did, I'd love to think I earned your subscription. It really helps me to get more of these great games to show off! You can also help by buying me a Coffee or 1/10th of a wargame at ko-fi.com/wargaminghansen OR subscribing to my Patreon: www.patreon.com/wargaminghansen OR making a one-time donation: paypal.me/wargaminghansen
A good overview of the rules and a clear demonstration of a first turn! I have the game now and will be playing it soon. I came searching for a video and found this one.
This looks very cool, and is right up my alley. I try to check out every game I can that covers the Great Patriotic War, and I love a good solo game. Thanks for the video, you have gained a fan
I think you did everything correct. I've watched others that miss things and get rules wrong. I saw nothing wrong here. Excellent job of explaining this game.
That's good news Johnny! Honestly, I expect to make *some* mistakes, and maybe there are still a few lurking in this video. But as always, I do my best to limit mistakes, and anything people find I appreciate being pointed out so others who watch the video in the future can be aware of.
Playthrough was a great depiction of how the game works. I really enjoy this one. Would be interested to hear your review if you do one. Mike Rinella mentioned on BGG that there will be more games coming in this series and the next one already in development will cover Manila 1945 with U.S. as attacker and Japan as the defender. So more good games like this one to look forward to.
The Manila game just went to the printers. It will be released in early 2024 along with a reprint of Stalingrad which went out of stock in October 2023 after barely nine months.
A nice solo wargame and it becomes nicer with your video. For reminding the Attack Total of both sides, you can also use two dedicated counters and the morale track.
Thanks Wayne, this was helpful. Interesting that the control markers/track are superfluous. Are you sure there is never a need to mark them? Seems odd they would be included at all.
@@michaelrinella6384I've now played the game and I can see why they are included. Although not really necessary, they provide a nice visual aid of what areas are controlled by who when scanning the board. I would not want to play without them, at this point (but could just as easily use a penny if they were not included).

Thanks Wayne! Someone that is new to wargaming your videos help a lot in the play through to better understand the rules.
That's great to hear, that is definitely one of my goals with my videos.

Just got the game and this really helped me get my first game played. Thank you!
Hell yeah! Get after it
Using this exact copy to learn and play the game. Thank you!
Have fun with it!

My review will be going up in a day or two. I am looking forward to seeing what else Rinella does with the system and how he improves it.

Great news Mike. Definitely will be a must purchase for me.
Great video mate :) :) Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
Thanks, you too!

Thank you Remi, and also that's an excellent idea to use the morale track!
Great how to video! BTW, really enjoyed your insights on solo wargames on Mentioned in Dispatches!
I appreciate that Michael. It was a lot of fun talking with the boys, and they humored my tendency to go on rants... or so it feels sometimes!
Volume 2 in the solitaire area movement series, Manila, is now out! I hope you'll do a video on it.
Hey Michael! Absolutely, got my copy, already working on videos. They will start going up on Thursday.
Well done sir! The next game in the system will be Manila, 1945.
Looking forward to it, Richard. I'm glad the game is doing so well for you guys.
Thanks for the video!. How much is the maximum reinforcements that an area can receive?
After playing and enjoy AH's Turning Point Stalingad it reminds me of it. I think that being the case I think it would be an easy transition
Having experience with other area-impulse/area-activation type games will definitely give you a leg up on learning and playing this one.
you need more sub/likes, great video
I appreciate that!
How long does it take for you to learn the rules of a game before you do your play through videos?
If you ask my wife, she would say too long 😁

Because they look cool and you get the tactile enjoyment of putting the control marker into the hard-won area.
