The flip is definitely a Matrix reference, SM will often have these "company movie nights" where they'll have the artists and their directors, choreographers even, pick up inspo from sci-fi and action movies. Their soloist U-Know, for example, said he got inspiration for choreography for his song Follow from MCU films, aespa's song Next Level samples a song from the Fast and Furious franchise and aespa, have a series called SMCU, otherwise known as the SM Culture Universe, in which they display their lore, as they have virtual counterparts called "aes" who live in a plane of existence called KWANGYA, which is beyond the FLAT and the REAL WORLD, but, beneath KOSMOS. In it they fight an AI virus called Black Mamba with the help of their guide, Naevis, who'll eventually debut as a soloist, herself. Their songs prior to Drama all revolve around that story and they'll likely come back to it with the next comeback, or, it will be told through Naevis' songs. Drama is a song centered around events portrayed through four individual teasers for each member which are, themselves, cinematic. Appreciate the aespa reaction!

aespa is a 4 member girl group under SM Entertainment. aespa members : Karina (Leader), Giselle, Winter and Ningning (Maknae). They debuted in 2020 with 'Black Mamba' MV. Each aespa member has a digital/virtual counterpart called "æ".
"Black Mamba" was their antagonist or villain. "Black Mamba" was trying to separate aespa members from their "æs". "nævis" is the savior of aespa.
