    Kirsche, as someone in the architecture industry, the erosion of classical architecture is drilled into both education and the public (through modern education)
    Example: in design classes, anything that isn't modern or post modern is discouraged and claimed to be 'old fashioned' and 'outdated'. Or claim it is costly, which is both false with cnc technology.
    They remove ornaments, the decorations, pillars, the engravings all of that with the purpose of taking away attachment to buildings. As they provide identity and relatabliltity.
    Doing so, people would be open to the idea of moving around, having no concrete identity to their culture or attachment to it.
    In short, erosion of the self, family and society.
    Yes, cost is a part of it, but it certainly is not a big of a problem as they claim it to be - as evident by any architecture studio or big projects dedicated to unusual designs and shapes that costs billions.
    Also, Raging Loop is my favorite VN 👌

    Common misconception: punishment severity is not the largest factor in crime rates. You can have the death penalty for jay walking and it wont stop people from doing it if they know they wil lnever get caught. The biggest controlling factors are speed and certainty of being caught. The faster people are seen to be apprehended, and the degree of certainty people have that they will be caught are the biggest factors.

    My family actually just bought a single family home that was built in 1910. Not sure how much historical value it has but it does need work. We are living in it while fixing it up. It has a duel fireplace shared between the living room and master bedroom. All hardwood flooring except bathroom and kitchen. Keeping most things original. The upstairs bathroom is straight from the 1930s with an old sink and toilet that still work that have been there probably since the 30s. Apparently the wood they used for the floors is very valuable. I don’t know much about the wood but I figure it’s best to keep that valuable wood floors as they are and just clean them up. Only serious issues is in outdated windows, upstairs floors need repair and a little bit of plumbing issues upstairs. Need new pipes, no central air or heating either. But it’s a 5 bedroom 2 bath home with the upstairs bedroom being an open loft with bathroom. We bought the house for 70k (we got it cheap because we were already renting it before hand and had made the owner died and the daughter who inherited the property sold it to us on the cheap because she liked us. The house is actually valued at around 240k so we got it for a steal at 70k.

    Grade T septic operator here. Septic systems on average last 25ish years but it depends on history of use, how many peole lived in the home prior, and what was run thru it over the years (grease, bleach, wipes other than regular TP) that negatively impact the bacteria in the tank. Get them cleaned regularly, much like getting oil changed regularly on a car, to keep them in good working order. Replace cast iron pipes with PVC if needed. Having septic vs sewer is often determined by geography and distance from a treatment plant.

    My wife is like that. I always tell her to get what she wants when she paints or the floors or whatever. She'll always say she doesn't want the color to be a problem when we sell the place. I tell her stop worrying about that. Most likely they're going to repaint the place when they buy it anyways. Plus, why have a color or floor or whatever you're just sort of OK with instead of a color you actually want.
    Not to say a future buyer won't try to use the color or whatever as a reason to give a lower price. But I'll worry about that then. Plus, I'm not of the opinion of treating the place I live in as an investment. Yeah, I'll be happy to sell it for more than I paid for it. But that's just a bonus.

    Used to do HVAC and let me tell you, those cube homes are shit for central air. There's absolutely nothing stopping cold air from falling into only the bottom half and hot air rising to the very top. They always have issues with even temperature throughout the home and there isn't shit you can do about it.

    • @tigerking8165
      @tigerking8165 2 месяца назад

      Doesn’t hot air go up and cold air go down by physics automatically? When people are in each room, don’t they occupy the lower portion of the room by sitting or standing, so they would be immerse in cold air? I used to install central HVAC too, but I’ll be honest I haven’t worked with these types of houses so I’m genuinely wondering the issue you mentioned.
      If you mean in those great rooms that take up 2 stories and there are indoor balconies, I can see if they complain those balconies could be hot as they are in higher portions of the room, though is that exclusive to these type of homes?

    • @rseven0
      @rseven0 2 месяца назад +1

      @@tigerking8165 That second paragraph. This was in Chicago only but they basically set it up with that big central area/indoor balcony every single time. Even with two separate units (sometimes three) between both floors, it would never stay even. On top of being ugly as sin, those homes weren't even comfortable to live in.

    Modern minimalism likely came about as most of us grew up in cluttered homes with too much stuff and no singular theme. I'm not defending it by any means, but I can understand if you grew up in a home like that. Most people probably default to this as their first option. I think there is a good mix of both, minimalist with warm colors and vintage floors and stone, I think, is the best aesthetic. Think Classic 1920s Art Deco.

    As a single adult male with no children, hearing Kirsche speculate she won't find anyone is tragic. Now, I am under no delusion that being noticed would end up on any sort of match making venture - but it is just tragic. There are plenty of guys here in her audience who would be good candidates, but the process of identifying/vetting them and matching them to her just... Doesn't really exist.
    On the surface, it's frustratingly simple. Any one of us would enjoy and appreciate personal attention and an opportunity. But... Let's just entertain the delusion she picks me out and says I sound like a stable form of her kind of insanity. Distance isn't initially a factor, but quickly becomes one. I am running a growing business and within 5 years will be very atypical as I could afford a house in New England - but just a year ago, I was still just a factory maintenance guy working 6 days a week and probably earning a fraction of what Kirsche does.
    I could seek higher paying jobs in other areas, but that is a huge commitment to make with someone who has mostly been interacting remotely. Is Kirsche going to travel out here to Missouri to see me and do a few streams from apartments or something? I could take time off, but I get two weeks and don't even get regular or full weekends.
    Saying nice things over the internet is easy. Even being nice and entertaining for a weekend is not that hard. How does Kirsche pick a decent guy from among those available without exposing herself to unreasonable risk? Even if she just picks local guys, what happens when they find out she's a streamer and they suddenly have a different currency to trade in the form of 'insider info?'
    Conversely, the very act of introducing herself as Kirsche is a personal exposure and can I, or someone else, be trusted with that? People do weird things in the face and pursuit of publicity and it's not even malicious intent stuff, it's their own ability to mesh with the culture of the people behind V-tubers.
    Even in my own future case where I am able to be the atypical person growing a business and spawning manufacturing investment and the like - Kirsche and I may be able to enjoy each other's company and all that fun stuff - but she clearly has her heart set on living in New england and I simply have zero connection to it or interest in it. If the lives we lead are not along a similar path, and neither of us willing to agree that raising a family is more important than those other goals ... Then it's a wash. I mean - in five years I will probably be able to afford a house in New england and it's not like I would refuse to live there - but by that point, I will be able to travel anywhere and I am very used to that from my time in the military. My "home" where I desire to do the most investment and to raise my own family is here in Missouri. I could make a nice house, a well afforded life anywhere in the world - but it wouldn't be home.... And I would feel a bit like I was treating my family like anchor babies if they lived somewhere else.
    Which... Babies are better than no babies, if that is what it takes - but it it seems dubious for my sense of morals and romance.
    And it's not exactly like I can, at that point, buy Kirsche a husband. Maybe I could do a sort of Trump like thing and have a sort of Mr. America pageant or something and try to vet guys who are responsible and not crazy so the fox woman can meet a match or something.
    The plan needs work. I already have age reversal slated as an investment and fertility treatments to try and save humanity from the birth rate implosion. But not everyone will be interested in such things.

    1:30:00 An important point that's glossed over here is that the real estate market is insane and the cost of any given house has increased by a factor of 10 over as many years. They've sold the home they bought at a 10% increase of value after "4 months of work," which means they've actively reduced its natural escalation of value with their "contributions." Also, they leave out *who* they sold the house to, and I'm willing to bet it's either BlackRock or the family of illegal immigrants that BlackRock was going to sell the house to anyway.

    No we Millenials are NOT all souless minimalists. That house with the grand staircase in my hands would of been refurbished and fixed, not removed. I want a house with CHARACTER no your bland cookie cutter home. Also let me say its not Millenials really doing this, it is but isnt. Its the younger Millenials, post 91/92 and the earlier have of Gen Z that are doing this. Most older millenials have the same taste as our Gen X brothers and sisters or our baby boomer parents. We love wood paneling we love character, we HATE the plane beige modernist/minimalist style.

    So quick question for the experts. Which architecture and design style is more dystopian: minimalist or brutalist?
    Also the buyers are BlackRock and Vanguard. Of course they want homes to be soulless and desired by no one because that's what they are.
