The tuning is a little bit lower than Eb, i used Eb at 430 Hz rather than 440
- Playing Technique: Very round sound, try playing next to the neck. All knobs at full (you can lower the tone too)
- Gear Sound: Lots of bass and lower treble. Add some mid to get some warmness.
- About The Song: Really easy, nothing much to say. Even so, be careful with maintaining the sound through the entire line. THIS SONG IS ALL ABOUT RESPECTING THE SILENCES, THEY ARE PART OF A GOOD PLAYER TOO.

I've been playing music for a while, I'll let you in on a secret. There is really no difference in sound or playability between a properly set up squire and a properly set up fender. You're honestly just paying for better build quality and a fancy logo.

You really get to appreciate the animation of the music video when you get to see how accurate it is to real life with the bass.

Yeah the song is played in one area of the neck but Murdoc is sliding all over it
technically it is accurate since you can also play the same bassline on only the e string and it sounds the same, the frets used in the mv were the same frets as the method i explained
In the video Murdoc is playing all up and down the neck mostly around the 5th and 7th fret, and on the slides he actually goes to the nut when he should be going to like the 12th fret.

How different is bass from regular guitar?? I play neither (I play trombone, lmao), but bass is also called bass guitar. Then again, some people get really offended when you call a bass and bass _guitar_

@@kottonkandy0962 they mostly differ in the more advanced playing techniques such as slapping, but some guitarists use this too. An important part of being a bass player is knowing when to play melodically with the guitars or rhythmically with the drums. Usually you can tell when a guitarist is just playing a bass because he'll generally be trying to do too much, essentially playing the bass as if it were just another guitar (of course, there are places where this works as well). There are also some physical differences, as basses use much thicker strings and the scale length is longer, which means that the distance between the frets is also longer. In the end, bass and guitar are similar in a lot of ways but also different in a lot of ways. I'd probably die of old age while writing this if I went through every single tiny difference....

I love this song, but there is something that always annoyed me and is the fact that the chorus doesn't have bass. Would be MUCH better if it had.
i think it's better with the guitar alone because as you can see the music video where in murdoc's place is like a secluded place so the bass is needed, while in the chorus it shows noodle in the sky freely playing her guitar. It's like there's a different essence on the places alone.
I feel like it would take away from the heavenly sound that's meant to contrast from the rest of the song
The chorus sounds thin, which works pretty well for that section. I wouldn’t say that it has a heavenly sound, but rather a dream-like quality. Adding a bass in would make it feel less “dreamy”, for lack of a better term, and make the chorus have more of a “whole” sound which would take away from what the chorus is doing.

I agree with the other replies. The music video perfectly showcases a reason for no bass, and the dreamy effect it has contrasted to the rest of the song is what makes this song so special.
At 0:18, after he plays the 2 on the second string, what does the curved line mean? I see it in a lot of bass tab but I don't know what it means
+DanManHamJam :] It's a rhythmic tie. It's used to create new rhythmic figures by joining two notes of the same pitch. In this case is helpful if you don't know the song at all
+DanManHamJam :] Think of it as connecting two notes. If you need to play a note that is two beats long, but one beat is on a 4 on one measure and the other on a 1 of the other, you connect two two. Two quarter notes tied = one half note

It's a tie which basically means carry on the note until you need to play the next one notated

About five months ago, feel good inc made me wanna learn to play the bass guitar. Very little time later, i found this and the feeling only grew stronger. Yesterday I got my first ever bass guitar for my birthday and i've been learning non-stop, i'm in love with the sound of it and i can finally play feel good inc.
This one song is the main reason I'm starting bass guitar lessons.
That and because I think bass instruments are cool.

When I was very young, I was unaware of the existence of bass in songs so when I hear those I become so intrigued and my dumbass thought it was some kind of drum instrument lol
I eventually learned what they were because my dad bought me one in hopes of teaching me how to play. Never got to actually master it since I lacked the free time to devote myself to it but I learned to really appreciate it and I'm always looking forward to hear it in every song I listen to.
