    Hi guys. It is indeed a Cooperman frame drum. The Glen Velez 20 inch. I Recommend it. They are very good drums, sound beautiful and keep their tuning very nicely. All the best.

      Zahir Dezhbord Frame drums have many names, depending which part of the world. Typically.......a Daf has the rings on the inside of the frame, and a Bendir has some type of snares, modern bendir have monofilament or fishing lines, 3.To give it a real buzzing sound. Simple frame drums like this are referred to as Tars or Daf, sometimes duff, again it depends where in the world you are.

    Tar, frame drum - no accent sound additions// Daf, frame drum - rings or shells around the interior rim of head// Bendir, frame drum - gut or metal "snare" accent additions across the interior of the drum head.
    Although there are a multitude of cultural region names for frame drum variations, these 3 examples are widely accepted.

    there is a huge difference between Daaf and Tar and Bodhran. this instrument is very close to Bodhran but gets played differently. Persian Daaf has chain inside and the body depth is smaller. please correct the information

    Excellent tutorial. Do you think that 20-inch Daff could easily be tuned to D#?

    This is called Tar and no Daf, Daf has a shallower frame and come’s with rings inside the frame.

    This is not Daff. Daff has metal rings on inside of the rim and it is played differently.

    This is not a daff

    • @shaalis
      @shaalis 7 лет назад +3

      it is and it isn't. the name may be the same but the style changes all over the middle eastern and orient. most daff I see today are thin framed with the Persian rings. in most cases ya I'd say it isn't what we normally see as a daff.

      @@shaalis Shalliborhran, totally wrong information. Iranian daaf is original in shape and sound and there is no other versions. please search before speak. the chain inside the persian daaf and the depth makes it totally different from this video's instrument
