One word of advice with brand new carburettors - always dismantle them, check them over, and reassemble them before fitting. Never assume that they're ready to run straight from the box. Chances are, you'll find something that wasn't fully tightened at the factory, potentially bits missing, and possibly the float level will need adjusting. Or, as James Condon discovered, parts loose in the float bowl that shouldn't even be there! From the exhaust smoke, it looks like the mixture is too rich. I'd try turning off the petrol tap and keep trying to start the beast. If the float level is too high, you'll eventually draw it down to a point where the engine will attempt to keep running. Now the question is this..... Why are you flogging yourself to death when that generator has electric start?! You must be a glutton for punishment!
Check the rubber fuel line out. The ethanol gasoline fuel eats the rubber lining inside out. And yes you can use those parts if the diameter of the parts are the same. And the same thread pitch to.
Old 60cc syringe bodies make a good small fuel tank for testing - that, some tubing, some cable ties or wire and a bit of stick usually do me. That way I just eliminate any tank/tap/pipe problems from the "why won't you start you ^&&%$£! question. In this case I'd have have just blown through the fuel pipe from the carb end though! That often helps.
Adam, next time you are checking manifold for distortion and rubbing them flat Sellotape your abrasive paper to a piece of glass. It will give you the best flat surface. Cheers Derek
As said, never take it for granted new carbs will run straight out of the box! Check it out first. Try setting the mixtures both to 1 1/2 turns out as a base line and check the throttle stop, it's firing but as it starts could it be trying to set the throttle to tick over and closing the throttle fully? Screw the stop in as if increasing the tick over speed as I don't recall seeing any sort of throttle lever.
Adam I’m a horticultural engineer of 40+ years I might be wrong but I think it’s a ignition problem plug points condenser that’s where I would put my money any way good luck by the way you can fit a later coil cdi and do away with the points much better
Elon could never fix a Brigs, besides, he just makes really big fireworks these days. Maybe Elon should take a few man-cave lessons and his rockets would quit blowing up :-)))))
Nearly fifty eh... I'm nearly sixty-five. I have one hip replacement and the other one is knackered. I also have a heart condition which means that they won't replace my second hip! I would be highly delighted to be nearly fifty...
I can't tell from the angle, how long is that kill wire? I swear every time she coughed into life the kill wire touched the frame and she stopped again.
Always dismantle and check carb over ?spes high end stuff made of chinesium ?you never know what's going on inside .i know someone who bought a knock off SU carb for Harley Davidson it wasn't drilled properly ? You gets what you pays for I suppose ! .
sometimes those manifold will warp. You can sand that manifold on a flat surface to get rid of the warpage takes a lot of sanding.
I used to hand mill machine the old Briggs aluminum heads too that would increase the compression. :-)

heh yeah that fuel hose has those lovely clamps you like so well. (I dont like those clamps either).
Should use a thin layer of grease on the gaskets instead of sealant. Gasket will come right off in the future and are usually reusable.
Good thinking. I never thought of that.
They sell the same ones the US. They take m6 screws in stead of 1/4-20
On some modern chinese carbs the kits are sometimes more than what the carb is worth.

Awesome yeah I do the hillbilly machining too. LOL
I bought the same carb for mine, I was a bit disappointed when I found out that the needle valve had been jammed in I soon sorted it out though.

How I envy you and missus man cave ,,getting out to the rallies and wrenching up classics

Yeah if I got an old I/C engine laying around I might see if the coil fits.
Hello I had a similar problem with one it was the fly wheel key it was not broken just mis shapen new one fitted and it ran fine
yepper I remember you taking that tap apart must still have gunk in it?
Is the plug fouled I remember you squirted Oil into the cylinder.
No I think maybe you ought to check the Float level in the carb it seems it not letting much Fuel in

those wiper switches tend to bend or lose a good ground.
I highly recommend to you replacing that rubber hose out with A new one.,or better one.
16:00 Did he put the carb on with no throttle attached...?
yes you finally removed the manifold, finally. Y es you do the same by getting the manifold flat.
I cannot remember the name but in the USA there are other places you can buy B&S parts
Nearly fifty eh...

Check the sparkplug, is it wet of dry ?
I would check the spark myself .
Yeah. Need to do some more checks. Bloody think. 🤣🤣

VILLIERS "Mk30c Will it run with Chinese carb?
Try changing the fuel pipe because the fuel pipe could be blocked up Adam
Did you have to eat youre spinach to lift that heavy beast. 🙂
dont forget the governor linkage. 😛
Oh M6 different screws yeah those chinese guys tend to change things.
YOU DIDN`T HOOK UP THE THROTLE ROD.
Mine has electric start thru the generator
That horshoe symbol stands for OHMS
well for being a knock of carb it seems okay
those kind of carbs it seems like they always drip fuel
A frend of mine got one carburettor had more lecks than a tea sraner 😂😂
Petroll fuel go juice LOL!

Thats a bowel vent.
What! Like a fart? 😂
@@Herbybandit oops too many vowels
spark issue old chap new points and condenser needed not a fuel issue not dodgy carb
