Jake Garratt's Hammer & Anvil at The Roman Baths for Bath IRON Civic Reception June 2018

This is the score composed by Bath Spa Uni graduate composer Jake Garratt for the National Heritage Ironwork Group competition to create a score for the new balustrade for Parade Gardens bandstand in Bath. This was created by many blacksmiths working across the UK in the build up to Bath IRON - festival of ironwork which was held in the World Heritage City of Bath over four days in June 2018. Alongside the creation of the score in iron there were also 8 unique musical themed panels designed by Master blacksmiths - Andy Rowe, Brian Russell, Gerard Loughran, Pete Clutterbuck, David James, Sam Pearce, Andrew Hall and Shona Johnson which were live forged during the event by the Masters and their teams, formed of blacksmiths from across the UK including student blacksmiths from Hereford College. It was a remarkable and unique event which inspired the community locally and across the UK whilst being supported and observed through social media across the world.
