You’re right Debbie, I think many of us feel that way. I think there’s always going to be someone who has had it worse than us, regardless of what happened to us in our lives. True, maybe we won’t complain about bumps and bruises and a few hardships here and there, but for the big stuff, yeah it would definitely cause mental and emotional trauma for us. I hope that makes sense.
I was humbled years ago when I was actively serving as an EMT/ Firefighter. Whenever I thought I had it bad, I could go on my next call whether it was a house fire and people lost everything or looking into the eyes of a widow who was losing her husband while we were doing CPR. I always called my time on calls a love/hate relationship

I could almost feel the weight lift off of her, what a tough thing to go through, these are all amazing but this one's like watching a miracle happen for someone.

This one brought me to tears. Just losing her husband a few days ago after a painful death. Must have been incredibly hard to watch her husband go through this. Thank you for paying off the funeral expenses. That would have been a worry. I’m glad she has the 8k on top of it. It’s so nice that Secret Santa is helping out people like them. Secret Santa is the reason I keep a box of tissues by my chair. After Nate told us how Heidi helps everyone, a stray cat runs out of the house. My first thought was “she is even helping the little animals”. My prayers go out to this family. Thank you Secret Santa for helping so many families. 🎅

1976 my Dad passed away on Father's Day. He was 44. Mom was 37. I was 16 and the oldest of five siblings. It wasn't particularly close to Christmas but we sure felt it at Christmas and every holiday since. We got some help from a few people but not that much. He died without much life insurance and his wages weren't much so my parents had never saved up much. I think Mom had about $300 in the bank the day he died. He had been sick about two weeks so it was a complete surprise. Word of advice to friends and family. If you ever say "is there anything I can do to help?" mean it or don't bother saying it. Hundreds of people showed up at the wake. Most asked that same question. I think three actually helped us out in any way. I am so glad Secret Santa stepped up and did this for this widow. People forget or just don't think about how difficult it is, not just emotionally but also logistically to be a widow with children to take care of and then to have the rent go up? We didn't have that specific problem but a lot of Dad's creditors had really sucky timing.
Prayers and Strength to you, Miss Heidi. Nice to see such deserving people receive these unexpected blessings and love from their community. Secret Santa is the best part of Christmas. 🎄🎅🏼
