I had kidney failure , please I beg all of you to eat as little sodium and sugar as possible , walk at least 5000 steps a day and work hard . When yo iWork hard, you sleep at least 8 hours with a clean conscience….I did not take good care my body, grew overweight and could never control my BP with even drugs …I also took milk whey protein supplements to build muscle ….the disease is silent and does not show symptoms till very advanced . I let down my family and my mother who gave me a healthy pair of kidneys that should have lasted a lifetime. Please do no repeat my mistakes 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Need to select your food thoughtfully, dont add extra sauces or salt, avoid any sugarly stuff especially soda, opt for low salt, sugar and oil food and snack. May taste bland initially but once get used to it, you will be ok. Eat homecooked food is better as you can control your food choices and preparation.
I love Singapore, I went there twice when I was working in Indonesia. In both of those countries, I noticed that the street food culture was quite strong with a lot of carbohydrates and fried food. People also consummed a lot of soft drinks, or added sugar in their tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. Added sugar and heated seed oils everywhere. Although those were delicious to eat, I could notice their effects on my physical and mental well-being. I'm French, so we do have our fair share of sweet pastries in my country, but the frequency of eating them was so much higher in Singapore and Indonesia. I didn't meet a single person who liked to drink coffee or tea without sugar. They looked at me like an alien when I told them I enjoyed black coffee and unsweetened tea. And so many people didn't like to walk in Indonesia. They take a motorcycle even if they need to go somewhere 200 meters away.
Probably soft drinks are the main culprit, since they are effectively empty calories. A culture of alot of fried food could also be a factor. Also, Singapore is a hot country and that contributes to kidney disease as well.
Same here in the Philippines, my mom started dialysis treatment last year and while accompanying her to the hospital, I see people my age and even younger being treated for terminal CKD. To see them frustrated, in denial and showing aggression during the first sessions is hard. Removing their financial worries in their thoughts helps a lot. I cried hard when my mom said she was ready to go without going through dialysis so convincing her took all my strength, patience and love for her. So glad she is feeling better now.
For those who are diagnosed from CKD stage 1 to stage 3, let me share with you my experience with CKD. Currently, I have end stage renal failure and I’m on dialysis at the moment. When I was told about my ailing kidneys some years ago, I was already in Stage 3a, a point of no return. I was told to limit my salt, protein and potassium intake to reduce work for my kidneys and prolong their life. Speak to your doctor because each individual case is different. Fortunately, in my case I didn’t have diabetes, so my dietitian told me to increase my carbohydrate intake to make up for the loss of protein, and thus energy. Be careful of hidden salt and protein in food like bone broth, bubble tea (milk) and processed food (e.g. instant noodles). The protein aspect of a CKD diet usually focuses on quality protein like meat and omits beans and milk. But please speak to your doctor. Potassium is a bad thing too. Some fruits and vegetables contain high amount of potassium. Examples include seasonal fruits (durian, rambutan, jackfruit), kale, spinach and beetroot. Processed food such as chocolate and instant noodles is also high in potassium. Some people may be tempted to pursue an alternative way of healing such as using Chinese herbs. However, I would not agree with this. Chinese herbs are a big no no for CKD because they are very high in potassium. I hovered at Stage 3 for about 4 years. Sadly, my kidneys deteriorated to the point of no return. In hindsight, I wished I had paid more attention to my diet during stage 3, so I could have a better chance of prolonging the life of my kidneys. Stage 4 was the shortest, lasting only 5 months. As time went on, I grew sicker and became more exhausted. During this time, I became depressed as I felt like I was stuck in limbo. A healthier version of myself was some distant time ago and I was still not on dialysis yet. The unknown part of my future life on dialysis scared me, and I didn’t know if I was fully ready to accept everything that comes with it. I made plans to arrange my future dialysis with my hospital (I should say I live in Malaysia btw). I also travelled to Thailand in what would be my last overseas trip. Now I’ve been on dialysis (peritoneal) for almost four years and I’m 34 years this year. So exhausted all the time. Need to take many types of medicine. A weekly injection to boost my blood production. When kidneys fail, our body can no longer produce adequate blood. My heart muscles have thickened because it has to work super hard to do simple things like cooking and climbing up the stairs. Have to avoid crowded areas because any mishap I may fall on the ground and break my brittle bones. I still can go jogging (though it’s not very encouraged) but there are many things I can’t do now. Travelling is one of them. I’m essentially homebound because I need to my dialysis every 5-6 hours. I can no longer eat all my favourite food such as beef noodles, instant noodles, ice cream, chocolates, bak kut teh and so on. No more contact sports or lifting moderate to heavy objects. No more swimming or soaking in bathtub. No more body massage because I can’t sleep on my stomach. I can still get body massage if I lie on my side but it’s not very comfortable. It’s all the little I used to take more granted in life -sad face- So people, please take care of your kidneys. They are silent organs which means they won’t tell you if they are hurt. If you have not reached stage 4 yet, there is still time to change things. Speak to a nephrologist and make necessary changes to your diet and lifestyle. If you’re Chinese like me, please limit your soy sauce intake and try to avoid food like salted egg, fermented bean curd and kon lou mee. Noodle soup is ok as long as you are very strict with not drinking the broth. Stage 1, 2 and 3 may not progress any further and you can avoid a future like mine. Wishing everyone the best of health.
You are a hero and no matter what the situation is we can always choose to look at the bright side of things. Many of my relatives including my dad have ckd and my dad is on dialysis now. Since young I have understood this and have been vigilant. Watching diet, exercising, not taking medicine unnecessarily, and doing screening. Pls dun take it lightly.
I believe if all the person eats in a day is a small portion of fermented bean curd OR a small 1/2 portion salted egg, with rice, and nothing else, it should be ok. And then it's only for a day, the next day they probably eat something else, probably in small amounts, or probably also fast intermittently. I think it's more the portions, and avoid highly processed foods and gluten. Also how often eaten than the food itself that hurts the kidney day in day out.
Thank you CNA for spreading the awareness. My late grandfather and father-in-law died during dialysis process. Both are caused by genetic factors and soft drink consumptions. Also, I saw many horrible moments inside the dialysis room with the most notable is child patients. They were doing the dialysis treatment using their school uniform and the image is still stuck in my head for more than a decade. The main cause of the dialysis in my hometown is primarily because of diabetes, and also excessive consumption of energy drinks, which combines awful level of both sugar and caffeine. And guess what? They drink it for fun because they felt that water is not tasty and "boring". Please drink more water and take care of your kidney health more seriously, because your world will never be the same once your kidney refuse to work.

Well, if the government allows Medisave to be used for preventive measures such as a full body medical check-up incl kidney, the numbers could be arrested. Using the medisave to pay is easier for people than out-of-pocket cash.

After dialysis for 20 years. Yes, my Medisave has long depleted years ago but I'm fortunate to have 2 brothers to help cover with they are Medisave instead. My case was I had SLE Lupus since teen and the medication causes hurt to my kidneys but I wouldn't end up dialysis as early as 29. If I had took care of my already weak health. I was a workaholic.......

@miguelofthedark In 3 days not going to dialysis, your body will bloat because there's no kidney to filter the water, you will act like a child because the brain already full of toxic fluid(not harmful if you remove it immediately through dialysis. A week or more then its already time to migrate to the other side.
Almost 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 3B CKD due to an autoimmune condition. I consider myself fortunate to have known about the condition early on because I had a routine blood test at the local clinic. Upon receiving the test results, I was referred to a doctor who informed me that my kidney functions were not good and required further examination at the hospital. Initially, I believed the condition could be cured with medications. However, upon consulting a nephrologist, I learned that autoimmune conditions have no cure. As a result, I was prescribed numerous medications, which I had to take daily (approximately 30 pills per day). During the first three months following the diagnosis, I had to undergo weekly blood tests. Despite taking many medications, my kidney functions did not improve significantly, with my eGFR remaining at around 35-45% in stages 3B and 3A. However, in 2019, my eGFR declined to almost stage 4, which greatly concerned my nephrologist and caused me to panic. Determined to find a solution, I conducted research online and came across the Modified Whole Food Plant-Based Diet, specifically designed to address kidney problems. I decided to adopt this diet, eliminating animal protein, processed food in any form, oil, sugar, and salt entirely. Instead, my diet primarily consists of vegetables, fruits, grains, and legumes, and I make sure to stay well-hydrated with plenty of water. Due to my autoimmune condition, I also avoid certain foods such as gluten and nightshade vegetables. Remarkably, within six months of following this protocol, my eGFR improved from almost stage 4 (eGFR 32) to stage 2 (eGFR nearly 70), and it has remained stable ever since. Adhering to the diet requires effort as I cannot eat outside and must prepare my meals daily. Nevertheless, it's undoubtedly worth it, as it has helped me avoid dialysis and save a significant amount of money. Since my kidneys reversed to stage 2, I now only need to see the doctor once a year, and all medications have been discontinued. This goes to show that there is hope for those with CKD.

Kidney failure is already an advanced state. That’s why yearly exam with blood test is key in early detection.When I was in HS , my father diabetes killed him with kidney failure. I took nursing and learned pathophysiology . It could have been prevented in his case. I understand it could be genetic, anatomical and even caused by an infection but education and regular physical exam and diet plays a huge role in prevention .
People, note that dialysis will leach minerals from the bones. After a long period of time such as a decade the bones will become very brittle. Dialysis may no longer be an option if the bones are too brittle. NKF has the option to withhold dialysis from such patients. A family friend's mother experienced this and the family fought hard to resume her sessions. They lost and she died shortly thereafter.
I notice that there is a lot of mention about things like health care cost and insufficient awareness, they are important but then we also have to look into another very important aspect, which is the food that people are taking on a daily basis. We have been talking about diabetic problem for years, but it only get worse over the years. Sometimes I think that it is really time to treat sugar, salt and oil as similar to cigarettes and alcohol, whereby they are social ills when consumed in large quantity. It is time to tax all these food products, before the healthcare cost becomes overwhelming. There are simply too many food sellers, and too many people who cook at home, who treat these condiments like free and use them in large quantity. If they are expensive, people will have to think twice about adding. Some countries already starting to tax unhealthy food products, and there is no reason why we cannot explore this step.
There's nothing stopping you from going doctor shopping across the border if you are worried. You can also check first if there is a private clinic in your city that will do a renal panel for you.
Me too. They refuse to do the blood tests and urinalysis that would be automatically done by any doc in the US. We must do the best to keep healthy and treat ourselves, no one is going to help. I have brain cancer, and my doctors are pushing me to allow them to suicide me, instead of treating me with chemo and radiation. Its cheaper to suicide me, so thats what they want to do. I am 38 years old.
Even in NY for mental health, there were no doctors, I was told severe shortage. She didn't get a dr until she tried to hang herself in the closet. And only then, she gets a monthly 1/2 hour tele-med (on phone) appt only.

Just letting people know, that sodium alone doesn't give you high blood pressure. All my life my blood pressure is low. I always cook food in salty side because salt is readly available growing up near sea salt farm. My doctor even told me to eat food high in sodium, but i told her that i already eat 2-4pcs of fried chicken almost everyday, she was shocked and told me that is enough. I keep on wondering why is that when almost everyone i know have a difficulty on keeping their blood pressure low, because it is to high. This what i noticed, i drink water almost every hour even just a small sip. Drinking through out the day in not so big of quantity is better than drinking a lot at once. I don't drink juice or eat anything sweet except i puy a little bit of sugar and a good amount of cream/milk in my coffee. I don't eat anything sweet, because i find everything super sweet except for fruits which i also seldom eat, but i eat plenty of vegetables and fish and seafood The main cause of kidney disease is diabetes and high blood pressure/hypertension. - You will not absorb that must sugar is it not accompanied with salt and vice versa. So dont take them together and you will be fine. - learn to eat healthy, it some time getting used to, but once your used to not eating sweet things, you will not have the desire or the cravings
Under EU law, there is strict regulation of declaring a full ingredients list in food and products you use. Be aware, these days with scientists experimenting with food, there are more and more lab-synthesized chemicals added to food and other products. Sometimes it is further up the food chain unbeknownst to general public, such as drugs given to farm animals to promote growth of leaner meat, which present in the slaughtered animal are harmful for humans when ingested. EU bans some of these but there are other developed countries who don't. Notably products from such countries which are bound for export, also may not need to follow the same regulation as those they set for their own consumers. So it is really up to each country's responsibility to safeguard their own population's health.
In SG due to high work stress. The rat race from our school days is ingrained into us. We must always be better at everything, be #1, be the best. Our lives are “sold” to the company. Another factor is the foods we consume in SG. Richer foods, better tastes and flavours, higher quality, premium cuisines… it never ends. Eating rich foods and doing exercise doesn’t equal to a balanced lifestyle. We should eat healthier + exercise + mentally be well. Many factors can make us healthy or make us sick. We have to choose wisely.
I am a Chronic Kidney Disease patient educator and my job is to help patients with CKD understand the disease, talk about what they can do to slow down its progression, and talk about the treatment options available even before needing dialysis. Unfortunately this disease is a silent disease because the signs and symptoms do not show until the later stages. You can be at stage 1 or 3 without even knowing it. Get your blood work checked annually and ask for getting your renal panel checked too. A lot of us might be surprised because we can be at stage 1 already at age 30+.
About three months ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. Through prayers and going plant based, I do have fish sometimes, I have gone back to normal. My efgr went to 90 and creatinine levels went to 57. It's a miracle thank God. I had been low carb before that and still am to a certain extent.

I’ve been a diabetic for about 15 years. Reading the comments below by other audience has made what I control my glucose level totally correct. Dialysis and some other grave complications are the last things that I have been wanting. Basic things: regular exercise, good food and drinks, and always have a good look at your skin and especially your feet. Once in a while you can have whatever you would like to have for your social functions. Move your body whenever you can. Enjoy your relaxing walks whenever you do shopping and use public transportation. Now I live alone and have no time to see other people enjoy their sweets, drinks, or sweets in my house. I can control myself but can’t control other people. 😊
As already mentioned hypertension or high blood pressure is a major risk factor, other than diabetes. I advise everyone to buy a blood pressure monitor and measure your blood pressure, once a year at least. If you have a high reading then you need to lose weight or eat less, or change your lifestyle if you drink or smoke a lot. I am afraid there’s no way other way of keeping yourself healthy.
@@bobafett5757 Boba, the Medical advice is to take your Blood pressure Consistently at the approx Same Time of day. The easiest time for Consistency would be the First thing in the morning, before you do anything else. Since there is No fluctuation in activity, then your BP should accurately reflect your actual health condition.
So often, the focus is always on treatment but not on the causes. We really need to deal with the real underlying causes that leads to kidney failure. If the kidney is responsible for filtering toxins, isn’t it obvious that we should stop the toxins from entering the body in the first place?
lol the toxins in this case aren’t legit toxins that enter your body… they are the by-products of the metabolic processes that occur in our body (basically the essentials of life)… 🙂
I believed "toxins" could also mean chemical, which are presence in most processed food. I tend to read the label of all foods at the supermarket, often hard to find something decent with lower sugar or salt content. If one has to be extremely concerned about health, then almost a food cannot be consumed. As the saying goes, you get what you eat and most tasty and delicious food are not healthy. Healthy foods are not tasty nor delicious, like raw vegetables. Instead of going extreme on diet, eating in moderation is key with plenty of exercise.
I am 59 yrs old. I can still swim 20 laps, cycle and walk. I can also do 108 - 130 ab crunches at one go. I mediate twice a day. I started taking care of my body since I was in my 20s. I don't take my health for granted. But when I look around me, people aren’t so careful when it comes to their health. Most Singaporeans dun take the trouble to learn about health care or do exercises. They simply eat what they want as if there is no tomorrow. Too lazy to exercise. The swimming pools I go to are always not too crowded. I guess you need to take the trouble to learn how to swim first. More need to be done. Have more posters on what to eat in public places. How to eat to prevent diseases. Schools can do more to educate their students on healthcare, start young, cannot wait. Our affluent life isn’t helping too. We have easy access to all kinds of junk food. I am still constantly looking out for health videos. I learnt so much for free. Every morning 30 mins before breakfast I will take either lemon juice in warm water with baking soda and vinegar, or lemon juice in warm water with himalayan salt and apple cider vinegar or lemon juice with extra virgin cold pressed olive oil. I dun eat white bread or white rice or white sugar. I eat fruits of all kinds and sometimes have only boiled sweet potatoes for my meals with coconut oil and cinnamon powder. I eat mainly vegetables with brown rice with a table spoon of chopped garlic and finish off with omega 3 capsules.. If you want your body to take care of you for life, you MUST learn to take good care of your body with the right education and attitude. Good health is a discipline. It does not come automatically. Yes, we only live once, so live it well. No need to enjoy everything you eat. But you can still enjoy everyday of your life. Some of my food taste like medicine. For example, I eat raw aloe vera, raw beet root, raw green/red pepper and raw cloves. As Steve Jobs, who died of cancer, once said: If you don’t eat food as your medicine, someday you will have to eat medicine as your food. Good healthy food need not cost a lot. The above I mentioned are so cheap. So ask yourself what you want, good tasty food or good healthy life? Make your choice. You cannot run away with it. Your body will tell you the truth. Recently I asked someone how old he thinks I am, he said I looked like 50 years old. I am going for my swim now. It’s 6:20am.

I have ESRF stage 5 , im doing HD now, and the first advise i have is to buy insurance..early before any disease sets in especially Chronic kidney disease. Unless you keep a healthy lifestyle,, that being said tmr you will never know what going happen to you. Singaporean foods are typically high in carbohydrates. Rice, noodles, bread and the gravy / broth and condiments that come with them are typically high in salt and / or sugar. The availability of foods that are good tasting but not necessarily nutritious or healthy for the body would be the no 1 root cause of this CKD prevalence. How many Singaporeans practice a low carb, moderate protein diet that focus on more fibre from vegetables, limit salt and sugar and with healthy fats like avocado, butter and olive oil? Instead of bee hoon or fried rice for breakfast one could have eggs and salad, avocado on toast or even just half boiled eggs with v minimal soy sauce. For lunch a tiny amount of brown or mixed rice with fish and veggies. For dinner another serving of vegetables and some protein. It is not easy to eat like this every day yeah but we can all try

People have been eating it for thousands of years and using them to preserve foods. Rather it is the synthetic chemical additives that modern processed food possess and drugs given to farm animals that is causing health problems.
All forms of protein are inflated by 30% since 2019 now. Fried rice isn't the norm for breakfast. Asian food can be very healthy and non-fat if you want it to be such as steamed, boiled wantons/dumplings, rice porridge etc. Rice bran oil or peanut oil are better than olive oil as both have a higher smoke point, a neutral taste and hence flavour profile more suitable for Asian cuisine. Asean countries have the climate suitable to produce good quality peanut oil or rice bran oil. Olive oil benefits are overly hyped because certain producing countries have been pushing it in order to expand into new markets.

I find that strange because when you get a complete blood count in the United States or a metabolic profile, the kidney values are in there don’t they have anything like that in Singapore just a regular blood test that you get every year that’s bizarre for a very modern country
We take a Full Blood Count and Renal Panel regularly for hospitalised patients. But, for individuals who are not hospitalised and appear healthy externally, it is of their own initiative to approach our healthcare institutions for screening.
More, than likely the western Diet made it's way into Singapore, China, Japan basically all countries that have a macdonald's at this point have embraced it, along with the soda companies like Coca-Cola too.
My dad passed away after 2 years of hemodiálysis (water dialysis) treatment. It is a cruel disease. No one should go through this kind of torture. I’m praying that gov will pass euthanasia law to mercifully end the life of end stage patients.
@@bobafett5757 because dialysis patient cannot produce urine. their kidney completely failed. they are basically "peeing" once every 2-3 days during dialysis. if they drink too much, fluid can accumulate in the body, in the lung, affect breathing, and cause swelling

medical care in SG is crazy expensive. My late mum was diagnosed with kidney failure in the early 80s. Each dialysis is about 5k then. My father almost went bankrupt then. Even though it is much cheaper these days, the cost of life isn't. Kidney patients might not be able to work but all these costs are a burden to patients and their family, The saying goes "in SG you can die but you cant fall sick".
Maybe?! Their drinking water is coming from ocean and then get treated through salinization. Who knows how much sodium per ppm in the water. Just saying.
@@slipknot8441 Some of the water is treated with the same chemicals as used in other countries. And some of it is filtered to the point where there is nothing in it except water; in fact, they have to add in stuff to give it a taste.

What make its truly scary is most people in singapore is rich people..they can do kidney surgery without worry much..but when the demand for kidney donor is high..and they have money to pay for it..its make human traficker case rise higer..usually that happen in poorer country.
We eat much more salt and sugar than in previous decades. Perhaps a lot less potassium to balance out the sodium overload. That’s my take on what’s happening and at first I thought was happening only in the US. Stress and lack of quality sleep are also huge factors. I’m from California and struggle to stop my husband from bringing sugary and salty foods into the house. So far, I don’t have kidney problems. I do things to be healthy but I also know that I’m not doing enough. My mother has end stage renal disease.
If these are the causes, then I bet US should be on number 1 position. I somehow feel there must be some genetic cause behind it. How can everyone gets the same disease? I'm not a Doctor, but just a laymen question.

(I have been diagnosed as CKD 2-3 but there is no medication or advice offered on what should I do next by the poly doctors. They say all the other metrics are ok, so nothing to do for now. Hi... When you are in stage 2 or 3, cut down your salt intake. Stage 3 and stage 4 limit the amount of protein you consume everyday. 3 matchbox of meat each day and no other source of protein like beans or milk. Speak to your doctor + dietian if possible.
I should say that I’m on dialysis. When I was told about my ailing kidneys, I was already in Stage 3a. I was told to limit my salt and protein intake. Speak to your doctor because each individual case is different. Fortunately, I didn’t have diabetes so my dietitian told me to increase my carbohydrate intake to make up for the loss of protein. Be careful of hidden salt and protein in food like bone broth, bubble tea (milk) and processed food (e.g. instant noodles). A CKD diet usually focuses on quality protein like meat and omits beans and milk. But please speak to your doctor. I hovered at Stage 3 for about 4 years. Sadly, my kidneys deteriorated to the point of no return. In hindsight, I wished I had taken care of my diet during stage 3 so I could have a better chance of prolonging the life of my kidneys. Stage 4 was the shortest, lasting only 5 months. As time on, I grew sicker and more exhausted. During this time, I made plans to arrange my future dialysis with my hospital (I should say I live in Malaysia). I also travelled to Thailand in what would be my last overseas trip. Now I’ve been on dialysis (peritoneal) for almost four years and I’m 34 years this year. I still can go jogging (though it’s not very encouraged) but there are many things I can’t do now. Travelling is one of them. I’m essentially homebound because I need to my dialysis every 5-6 hours. No more contact sports or lifting moderate to heavy objects. No more swimming or soaking in bathtub. So please take care of yourself. Speak to a nephrologist and make necessary changes to your diet and lifestyle. If you’re Chinese like me, please limit your soy sauce intake and try to avoid food like salted egg and kon lou mee. Noodle soup are ok as long as you are very strict with not drinking the broth. Take care.
Oh I forgot. You need to limit the amount of potassium you consume during stage 3 and 4. Seasonal fruits, dark green vegetables e.g. kale are high in potassium.
Generally blood sugar and blood pressure control. If there is protein detected in the urine, ace-inhibitors are generally given to reduce protein in the urine. New drugs like sglt-2 inhibitors are also useful in retarding ckd in patients with diabetes.
This is unusual. I think of Singaporeans as being well-educated, health conscious people. Has there been a recent change in life style, stress, diet? Is there something that makes the people genetically predisposed to kidney disease? If it’s diabetes, why?
It's a sign of insulin resistance and metabolic symdrome. And the video can't tell people to stop eating and rest their body. This will disrupt the economy. I mean, let's walk down every mall in Singapore, every other food store is selling something sweet, whether it's beverage, dessert, bakery, cakes. There's food 24/7. If the government steps in and say the cause is too much sugar, processed food. These stores are going to close down.
@Pauline's problem, which she should highlight to MOH and the fatcats in heathcare administration, is that they are not making healthcare jobs in SG attractive. They lure them with 15k signing bonuses (new nurses) and tie them down to a bond. After these people are trained and see that all developed countries (or even HK for that matter) have much higher pay (up to double or more), less working hours with lower costs of living they will just move overseas to work on completion of their bond. So SG is only getting the fresh grads and overseas healthcare professionals, training them up and then giving them up for free to other countries. We are like FC Arsenal, training up players and then letting them leave to their competitors who end up winning EPL and UCL, but in our case we don't even collect a transfer fee for them. So I think the topdogs and fatcats are just so stupid...
Look up kidney disease and whole foods plant based diet on RUclips. Many people improve their kidneys this way but if you are very sick you will need to consult a nephrologist who is experienced in using such diets.
My personal observation is, good quality food is not the cheapest options around. Hence, many people turn to hawker centres / coffee shops for meal options and often, the food sold are too salty or tainted with msg. Imagine this for decades. How can the kidneys keep up?

I wonder how much of this is contamination of food, drink and medicine. We know that one bad batch can cause such injuries. A lifetime of smaller exposures can't be harmless.
It's not contaminated food, drink or medicine. It's insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome. On containmination, we should be worry about the phthalates, BPAs, parabens leeching in the plastic bowls and paper cups used in food center and cafe. They are endocrine disruptors.

Just a tip only, if you also eating plenty durians, jackfruit, etc in that same day, repeated a few more times in the week, then you have hi chance diabetes creeping up on you. If every day you eat prata, pizza, sphagetti, pasta, carrot cake, sweet bread, the starchy kinds of gluten based foods, NAFL (non alcoholic fatty liver) conditions(you will notice you look pregnant when you're not) will creep up too. Of course if you go and run a marathon after all that gluten, then it's fine, but how often you go running? Then if you don't run but go to sleep/nap soon after eating, for sure heart disease will also creep up. hope this helps.

I had kidney failure , please I beg all of you to eat as little sodium and sugar as possible , walk at least 5000 steps a day and work hard . When yo iWork hard, you sleep at least 8 hours with a clean conscience….I did not take good care my body, grew overweight and could never control my BP with even drugs …I also took milk whey protein supplements to build muscle ….the disease is silent and does not show symptoms till very advanced . I let down my family and my mother who gave me a healthy pair of kidneys that should have lasted a lifetime. Please do no repeat my mistakes 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Need to select your food thoughtfully, dont add extra sauces or salt, avoid any sugarly stuff especially soda, opt for low salt, sugar and oil food and snack. May taste bland initially but once get used to it, you will be ok. Eat homecooked food is better as you can control your food choices and preparation.
I love Singapore, I went there twice when I was working in Indonesia. In both of those countries, I noticed that the street food culture was quite strong with a lot of carbohydrates and fried food. People also consummed a lot of soft drinks, or added sugar in their tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. Added sugar and heated seed oils everywhere. Although those were delicious to eat, I could notice their effects on my physical and mental well-being. I'm French, so we do have our fair share of sweet pastries in my country, but the frequency of eating them was so much higher in Singapore and Indonesia. I didn't meet a single person who liked to drink coffee or tea without sugar. They looked at me like an alien when I told them I enjoyed black coffee and unsweetened tea. And so many people didn't like to walk in Indonesia. They take a motorcycle even if they need to go somewhere 200 meters away.
Probably soft drinks are the main culprit, since they are effectively empty calories. A culture of alot of fried food could also be a factor.
Also, Singapore is a hot country and that contributes to kidney disease as well.

Same here in the Philippines, my mom started dialysis treatment last year and while accompanying her to the hospital, I see people my age and even younger being treated for terminal CKD. To see them frustrated, in denial and showing aggression during the first sessions is hard. Removing their financial worries in their thoughts helps a lot. I cried hard when my mom said she was ready to go without going through dialysis so convincing her took all my strength, patience and love for her. So glad she is feeling better now.

For those who are diagnosed from CKD stage 1 to stage 3, let me share with you my experience with CKD. Currently, I have end stage renal failure and I’m on dialysis at the moment.

The protein aspect of a CKD diet usually focuses on quality protein like meat and omits beans and milk. But please speak to your doctor. Potassium is a bad thing too. Some fruits and vegetables contain high amount of potassium. Examples include seasonal fruits (durian, rambutan, jackfruit), kale, spinach and beetroot. Processed food such as chocolate and instant noodles is also high in potassium. Some people may be tempted to pursue an alternative way of healing such as using Chinese herbs. However, I would not agree with this. Chinese herbs are a big no no for CKD because they are very high in potassium.
I hovered at Stage 3 for about 4 years. Sadly, my kidneys deteriorated to the point of no return. In hindsight, I wished I had paid more attention to my diet during stage 3, so I could have a better chance of prolonging the life of my kidneys.

A healthier version of myself was some distant time ago and I was still not on dialysis yet. The unknown part of my future life on dialysis scared me, and I didn’t know if I was fully ready to accept everything that comes with it. I made plans to arrange my future dialysis with my hospital (I should say I live in Malaysia btw). I also travelled to Thailand in what would be my last overseas trip.
Now I’ve been on dialysis (peritoneal) for almost four years and I’m 34 years this year. So exhausted all the time. Need to take many types of medicine. A weekly injection to boost my blood production. When kidneys fail, our body can no longer produce adequate blood. My heart muscles have thickened because it has to work super hard to do simple things like cooking and climbing up the stairs. Have to avoid crowded areas because any mishap I may fall on the ground and break my brittle bones.
I still can go jogging (though it’s not very encouraged) but there are many things I can’t do now. Travelling is one of them. I’m essentially homebound because I need to my dialysis every 5-6 hours. I can no longer eat all my favourite food such as beef noodles, instant noodles, ice cream, chocolates, bak kut teh and so on. No more contact sports or lifting moderate to heavy objects. No more swimming or soaking in bathtub. No more body massage because I can’t sleep on my stomach. I can still get body massage if I lie on my side but it’s not very comfortable. It’s all the little I used to take more granted in life -sad face-
So people, please take care of your kidneys. They are silent organs which means they won’t tell you if they are hurt. If you have not reached stage 4 yet, there is still time to change things. Speak to a nephrologist and make necessary changes to your diet and lifestyle. If you’re Chinese like me, please limit your soy sauce intake and try to avoid food like salted egg, fermented bean curd and kon lou mee. Noodle soup is ok as long as you are very strict with not drinking the broth. Stage 1, 2 and 3 may not progress any further and you can avoid a future like mine. Wishing everyone the best of health.

You are a hero and no matter what the situation is we can always choose to look at the bright side of things. Many of my relatives including my dad have ckd and my dad is on dialysis now. Since young I have understood this and have been vigilant. Watching diet, exercising, not taking medicine unnecessarily, and doing screening. Pls dun take it lightly.
I believe if all the person eats in a day is a small portion of fermented bean curd OR a small 1/2 portion salted egg, with rice, and nothing else, it should be ok. And then it's only for a day, the next day they probably eat something else, probably in small amounts, or probably also fast intermittently. I think it's more the portions, and avoid highly processed foods and gluten. Also how often eaten than the food itself that hurts the kidney day in day out.

My late grandfather and father-in-law died during dialysis process. Both are caused by genetic factors and soft drink consumptions. Also, I saw many horrible moments inside the dialysis room with the most notable is child patients. They were doing the dialysis treatment using their school uniform and the image is still stuck in my head for more than a decade.
The main cause of the dialysis in my hometown is primarily because of diabetes, and also excessive consumption of energy drinks, which combines awful level of both sugar and caffeine. And guess what? They drink it for fun because they felt that water is not tasty and "boring". Please drink more water and take care of your kidney health more seriously, because your world will never be the same once your kidney refuse to work.
Be aware that several medications taken for a long time can cause kidney failure so consult your Dr if unsure so dont blame soft drinks

Soft drink consumption is very high in Singapore. And also beer and alcohol. I was shocked to see everyone having a soft drink almost with every other meal in my recent trip.
I agree. When I go shopping I always see people with boxes of fizzy drinks. No vegies, no greens in their cart. Its really sad. Even small children drink it.

Well, if the government allows Medisave to be used for preventive measures such as a full body medical check-up incl kidney, the numbers could be arrested. Using the medisave to pay is easier for people than out-of-pocket cash.

After dialysis for 20 years. Yes, my Medisave has long depleted years ago but I'm fortunate to have 2 brothers to help cover with they are Medisave instead. My case was I had SLE Lupus since teen and the medication causes hurt to my kidneys but I wouldn't end up dialysis as early as 29. If I had took care of my already weak health. I was a workaholic.......

I didn't know that Singapore is dealing with this epidemic disease. Here in the United States the problem is rising among young individuals. Why? Is it because people are not paying attention to their bodies and health?
Yes, many kids when they reach teenage year will be prediabetic. All these are signs of insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome. Dr. Robert Lustig has some good RUclips videos on this subject.

@miguelofthedark In 3 days not going to dialysis, your body will bloat because there's no kidney to filter the water, you will act like a child because the brain already full of toxic fluid(not harmful if you remove it immediately through dialysis. What was your diet before you got diagnosed? Were you eating a lot of meat or drinking little water?
Almost 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 3B CKD due to an autoimmune condition. I consider myself fortunate to have known about the condition early on because I had a routine blood test at the local clinic. Upon receiving the test results, I was referred to a doctor who informed me that my kidney functions were not good and required further examination at the hospital. Initially, I believed the condition could be cured with medications. However, upon consulting a nephrologist, I learned that autoimmune conditions have no cure. As a result, I was prescribed numerous medications, which I had to take daily (approximately 30 pills per day). During the first three months following the diagnosis, I had to undergo weekly blood tests. Despite taking many medications, my kidney functions did not improve significantly, with my eGFR remaining at around 35-45% in stages 3B and 3A.
However, in 2019, my eGFR declined to almost stage 4, which greatly concerned my nephrologist and caused me to panic. Determined to find a solution, I conducted research online and came across the Modified Whole Food Plant-Based Diet, specifically designed to address kidney problems. I decided to adopt this diet, eliminating animal protein, processed food in any form, oil, sugar, and salt entirely. Instead, my diet primarily consists of vegetables, fruits, grains, and legumes, and I make sure to stay well-hydrated with plenty of water. Due to my autoimmune condition, I also avoid certain foods such as gluten and nightshade vegetables. Remarkably, within six months of following this protocol, my eGFR improved from almost stage 4 (eGFR 32) to stage 2 (eGFR nearly 70), and it has remained stable ever since. Adhering to the diet requires effort as I cannot eat outside and must prepare my meals daily. Nevertheless, it's undoubtedly worth it, as it has helped me avoid dialysis and save a significant amount of money. Since my kidneys reversed to stage 2, I now only need to see the doctor once a year, and all medications have been discontinued. This goes to show that there is hope for those with CKD.

Kidney failure is already an advanced state. That’s why yearly exam with blood test is key in early detection.When I was in HS , my father diabetes killed him with kidney failure. I took nursing and learned pathophysiology . It could have been prevented in his case. I understand it could be genetic, anatomical and even caused by an infection but education and regular physical exam and diet plays a huge role in prevention .

People, note that dialysis will leach minerals from the bones. After a long period of time such as a decade the bones will become very brittle. Dialysis may no longer be an option if the bones are too brittle. NKF has the option to withhold dialysis from such patients. A family friend's mother experienced this and the family fought hard to resume her sessions. They lost and she died shortly thereafter.

I notice that there is a lot of mention about things like health care cost and insufficient awareness, they are important but then we also have to look into another very important aspect, which is the food that people are taking on a daily basis. We have been talking about diabetic problem for years, but it only get worse over the years.
Sometimes I think that it is really time to treat sugar, salt and oil as similar to cigarettes and alcohol, whereby they are social ills when consumed in large quantity. It is time to tax all these food products, before the healthcare cost becomes overwhelming. There are simply too many food sellers, and too many people who cook at home, who treat these condiments like free and use them in large quantity. If they are expensive, people will have to think twice about adding. Some countries already starting to tax unhealthy food products, and there is no reason why we cannot explore this step.
Maybe should have advised people how to prevent kidney problems and what to avoid.

There's nothing stopping you from going doctor shopping across the border if you are worried. You can also check first if there is a private clinic in your city that will do a renal panel for you.
Me too. They refuse to do the blood tests and urinalysis that would be automatically done by any doc in the US. We must do the best to keep healthy and treat ourselves, no one is going to help. I have brain cancer, and my doctors are pushing me to allow them to suicide me, instead of treating me with chemo and radiation. Its cheaper to suicide me, so thats what they want to do. I am 38 years old.
Even in NY for mental health, there were no doctors, I was told severe shortage. She didn't get a dr until she tried to hang herself in the closet. And only then, she gets a monthly 1/2 hour tele-med (on phone) appt only.

Just letting people know, that sodium alone doesn't give you high blood pressure. All my life my blood pressure is low. I always cook food in salty side because salt is readly available growing up near sea salt farm. My doctor even told me to eat food high in sodium, but i told her that i already eat 2-4pcs of fried chicken almost everyday, she was shocked and told me that is enough. I keep on wondering why is that when almost everyone i know have a difficulty on keeping their blood pressure low, because it is to high. This what i noticed, i drink water almost every hour even just a small sip. Drinking through out the day in not so big of quantity is better than drinking a lot at once. I don't drink juice or eat anything sweet except i puy a little bit of sugar and a good amount of cream/milk in my coffee. I don't eat anything sweet, because i find everything super sweet except for fruits which i also seldom eat, but i eat plenty of vegetables and fish and seafood
The main cause of kidney disease is diabetes and high blood pressure/hypertension.
- You will not absorb that must sugar is it not accompanied with salt and vice versa. So dont take them together and you will be fine.
- learn to eat healthy, it some time getting used to, but once your used to not eating sweet things, you will not have the desire or the cravings
Under EU law, there is strict regulation of declaring a full ingredients list in food and products you use. Be aware, these days with scientists experimenting with food, there are more and more lab-synthesized chemicals added to food and other products. Sometimes it is further up the food chain unbeknownst to general public, such as drugs given to farm animals to promote growth of leaner meat, which present in the slaughtered animal are harmful for humans when ingested. EU bans some of these but there are other developed countries who don't. Notably products from such countries which are bound for export, also may not need to follow the same regulation as those they set for their own consumers. So it is really up to each country's responsibility to safeguard their own population's health.
In SG due to high work stress. The rat race from our school days is ingrained into us. We must always be better at everything, be #1, be the best. Our lives are “sold” to the company. Another factor is the foods we consume in SG. Richer foods, better tastes and flavours, higher quality, premium cuisines… it never ends.
Eating rich foods and doing exercise doesn’t equal to a balanced lifestyle. We should eat healthier + exercise + mentally be well. Many factors can make us healthy or make us sick. We have to choose wisely.
I am a Chronic Kidney Disease patient educator and my job is to help patients with CKD understand the disease, talk about what they can do to slow down its progression, and talk about the treatment options available even before needing dialysis. Unfortunately this disease is a silent disease because the signs and symptoms do not show until the later stages. You can be at stage 1 or 3 without even knowing it. Get your blood work checked annually and ask for getting your renal panel checked too. A lot of us might be surprised because we can be at stage 1 already at age 30+.
My dad died from this. Keep safe people. Drink a lot of water and do some sport even just little bit. Don't let obesity control us. 😥😥

About three months ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. Through prayers and going plant based, I do have fish sometimes, I have gone back to normal. My efgr went to 90 and creatinine levels went to 57. It's a miracle thank God. I had been low carb before that and still am to a certain extent.

Is is because of lack of water or sedentary lifestyles? If we drink at least 8 glasses of pure water (soda, tea, coffee not water) I guess kidney failure can be avoided. Prayers for Singapore. Only 3 million population and 200K have kidney problems alarming.

I’ve been a diabetic for about 15 years. Reading the comments below by other audience has made what I control my glucose level totally correct. Dialysis and some other grave complications are the last things that I have been wanting. Basic things: regular exercise, good food and drinks, and always have a good look at your skin and especially your feet. Once in a while you can have whatever you would like to have for your social functions. Move your body whenever you can. Enjoy your relaxing walks whenever you do shopping and use public transportation. Now I live alone and have no time to see other people enjoy their sweets, drinks, or sweets in my house. I can control myself but can’t control other people. 😊
As already mentioned hypertension or high blood pressure is a major risk factor, other than diabetes. I advise everyone to buy a blood pressure monitor and measure your blood pressure, once a year at least. If you have a high reading then you need to lose weight or eat less, or change your lifestyle if you drink or smoke a lot. I am afraid there’s no way other way of keeping yourself healthy.

The easiest time for Consistency would be the First thing in the morning, before you do anything else.

So often, the focus is always on treatment but not on the causes. We really need to deal with the real underlying causes that leads to kidney failure. If the kidney is responsible for filtering toxins, isn’t it obvious that we should stop the toxins from entering the body in the first place?

it doesn't matter how healthy you are, your kidney may fail due to other factors (genetic). like how people get sick even when they are not working.

I believed "toxins" could also mean chemical, which are presence in most processed food. I tend to read the label of all foods at the supermarket, often hard to find something decent with lower sugar or salt content. If one has to be extremely concerned about health, then almost a food cannot be consumed. As the saying goes, you get what you eat and most tasty and delicious food are not healthy. Healthy foods are not tasty nor delicious, like raw vegetables. Instead of going extreme on diet, eating in moderation is key with plenty of exercise.
To help with the need for staffing. The dialysis unit can train and hire dialysis technician.

I am 59 yrs old. I can still swim 20 laps, cycle and walk. I can also do 108 - 130 ab crunches at one go. I mediate twice a day. I started taking care of my body since I was in my 20s. I don't take my health for granted. But when I look around me, people aren’t so careful when it comes to their health. Most Singaporeans dun take the trouble to learn about health care or do exercises. They simply eat what they want as if there is no tomorrow. Too lazy to exercise. The swimming pools I go to are always not too crowded. I guess you need to take the trouble to learn how to swim first.
More need to be done. Have more posters on what to eat in public places. How to eat to prevent diseases. Schools can do more to educate their students on healthcare, start young, cannot wait. Our affluent life isn’t helping too. We have easy access to all kinds of junk food.
I am still constantly looking out for health videos. I learnt so much for free. Every morning 30 mins before breakfast I will take either lemon juice in warm water with baking soda and vinegar, or lemon juice in warm water with himalayan salt and apple cider vinegar or lemon juice with extra virgin cold pressed olive oil.
I dun eat white bread or white rice or white sugar. I eat fruits of all kinds and sometimes have only boiled sweet potatoes for my meals with coconut oil and cinnamon powder.
I eat mainly vegetables with brown rice with a table spoon of chopped garlic and finish off with omega 3 capsules..
If you want your body to take care of you for life, you MUST learn to take good care of your body with the right education and attitude. Good health is a discipline. It does not come automatically. Yes, we only live once, so live it well. No need to enjoy everything you eat. But you can still enjoy everyday of your life.
Some of my food taste like medicine. For example, I eat raw aloe vera, raw beet root, raw green/red pepper and raw cloves. As Steve Jobs, who died of cancer, once said: If you don’t eat food as your medicine, someday you will have to eat medicine as your food. Good healthy food need not cost a lot. The above I mentioned are so cheap.
So ask yourself what you want, good tasty food or good healthy life? Make your choice. You cannot run away with it. Your body will tell you the truth. Recently I asked someone how old he thinks I am, he said I looked like 50 years old. I am going for my swim now. It’s 6:20am.

I have ESRF stage 5 , im doing HD now, and the first advise i have is to buy insurance..early before any disease sets in especially Chronic kidney disease. Unless you keep a healthy lifestyle,, that being said tmr you will never know what going happen to you. Singaporean foods are typically high in carbohydrates. Rice, noodles, bread and the gravy / broth and condiments that come with them are typically high in salt and / or sugar.
The availability of foods that are good tasting but not necessarily nutritious or healthy for the body would be the no 1 root cause of this CKD prevalence.
How many Singaporeans practice a low carb, moderate protein diet that focus on more fibre from vegetables, limit salt and sugar and with healthy fats like avocado, butter and olive oil?
Instead of bee hoon or fried rice for breakfast one could have eggs and salad, avocado on toast or even just half boiled eggs with v minimal soy sauce. For lunch a tiny amount of brown or mixed rice with fish and veggies. For dinner another serving of vegetables and some protein.
It is not easy to eat like this every day yeah but we can all try

People have been eating it for thousands of years and using them to preserve foods. Rather it is the synthetic chemical additives that modern processed food possess and drugs given to farm animals that is causing health problems.
All forms of protein are inflated by 30% since 2019 now. Fried rice isn't the norm for breakfast. Asian food can be very healthy and non-fat if you want it to be such as steamed, boiled wantons/dumplings, rice porridge etc.
Rice bran oil or peanut oil are better than olive oil as both have a higher smoke point, a neutral taste and hence flavour profile more suitable for Asian cuisine. Asean countries have the climate suitable to produce good quality peanut oil or rice bran oil. Olive oil benefits are overly hyped because certain producing countries have been pushing it in order to expand into new markets.

I find that strange because when you get a complete blood count in the United States or a metabolic profile, the kidney values are in there don’t they have anything like that in Singapore just a regular blood test that you get every year that’s bizarre for a very modern country
We take a Full Blood Count and Renal Panel regularly for hospitalised patients. But, for individuals who are not hospitalised and appear healthy externally, it is of their own initiative to approach our healthcare institutions for screening.

My dad passed away after 2 years of hemodiálysis (water dialysis) treatment. It is a cruel disease. No one should go through this kind of torture. I’m praying that gov will pass euthanasia law to mercifully end the life of end stage patients.

Not everyone can seek treatments from NKF. The middle income household is strapped to expensive treatments from private dialysis clinics. Medisave claims is fixed only at $450/- per month. Govt must raise the claim amount.

medical care in SG is crazy expensive. My late mum was diagnosed with kidney failure in the early 80s. Each dialysis is about 5k then. My father almost went bankrupt then. Even though it is much cheaper these days, the cost of life isn't. Kidney patients might not be able to work but all these costs are a burden to patients and their family, The saying goes "in SG you can die but you cant fall sick".

We eat much more salt and sugar than in previous decades. Perhaps a lot less potassium to balance out the sodium overload. That’s my take on what’s happening and at first I thought was happening only in the US. Stress and lack of quality sleep are also huge factors. I’m from California and struggle to stop my husband from bringing sugary and salty foods into the house.
So far, I don’t have kidney problems. I do things to be healthy but I also know that I’m not doing enough. My mother has end stage renal disease.

So what should we do if we detect it early? How do we slow it down. What are the solutions? That is where SG doctors can help but from experience they don't. (I have been diagnosed as CKD 2-3 but there is no medication or advice offered on what should I do next by the poly doctors. They say all the other metrics are ok, so nothing to do for now. They just want the disease to progress before doing anything?) What is the government doing to help prevent or slow down the disease? Seems like minimal.
Hi... When you are in stage 2 or 3, cut down your salt intake. Stage 3 and stage 4 limit the amount of protein you consume everyday. 3 matchbox of meat each day and no other source of protein like beans or milk. Speak to your doctor + dietian if possible.
I should say that I’m on dialysis. When I was told about my ailing kidneys, I was already in Stage 3a. I was told to limit my salt and protein intake. Speak to your doctor because each individual case is different. Fortunately, I didn’t have diabetes so my dietitian told me to increase my carbohydrate intake to make up for the loss of protein. Be careful of hidden salt and protein in food like bone broth, bubble tea (milk) and processed food (e.g. instant noodles). A CKD diet usually focuses on quality protein like meat and omits beans and milk. But please speak to your doctor.
I hovered at Stage 3 for about 4 years. Sadly, my kidneys deteriorated to the point of no return. In hindsight, I wished I had taken care of my diet during stage 3 so I could have a better chance of prolonging the life of my kidneys.
Stage 4 was the shortest, lasting only 5 months. As time on, I grew sicker and more exhausted. During this time, I made plans to arrange my future dialysis with my hospital (I should say I live in Malaysia). I also travelled to Thailand in what would be my last overseas trip.
Now I’ve been on dialysis (peritoneal) for almost four years and I’m 34 years this year. I still can go jogging (though it’s not very encouraged) but there are many things I can’t do now. Travelling is one of them. I’m essentially homebound because I need to my dialysis every 5-6 hours. No more contact sports or lifting moderate to heavy objects. No more swimming or soaking in bathtub.
So please take care of yourself. Speak to a nephrologist and make necessary changes to your diet and lifestyle. If you’re Chinese like me, please limit your soy sauce intake and try to avoid food like salted egg and kon lou mee. Noodle soup are ok as long as you are very strict with not drinking the broth. Take care.
Oh I forgot. You need to limit the amount of potassium you consume during stage 3 and 4. Seasonal fruits, dark green vegetables e.g. kale are high in potassium.

@Pauline's problem, which she should highlight to MOH and the fatcats in heathcare administration, is that they are not making healthcare jobs in SG attractive. They lure them with 15k signing bonuses (new nurses) and tie them down to a bond. After these people are trained and see that all developed countries (or even HK for that matter) have much higher pay (up to double or more), less working hours with lower costs of living they will just move overseas to work on completion of their bond.
So SG is only getting the fresh grads and overseas healthcare professionals, training them up and then giving them up for free to other countries. We are like FC Arsenal, training up players and then letting them leave to their competitors who end up winning EPL and UCL, but in our case we don't even collect a transfer fee for them. So I think the topdogs and fatcats are just so stupid...
Look up kidney disease and whole foods plant based diet on RUclips. Many people improve their kidneys this way but if you are very sick you will need to consult a nephrologist who is experienced in using such diets.

Soft drinks, cakes, even white rice are made of simple carbohydrates and will turn into sugar fast in your body. When that happens, your body is riding a yo-yo. People are getting too old for this gymnastic chemical/insulin bouncing, not good for you. Control what you eat, like our ancestor, they didnt have dialysis, and they didnt have this problem. It's not contaminated food, drink or medicine. It's insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome. On containmination, we should be worry about the phthalates, BPAs, parabens leeching in the plastic bowls and paper cups used in food center and cafe. They are endocrine disruptors.

@@bobafett5757 you can try drinking plenty of water if on that day you plan to binge on salty, processed food. Just a tip only, if you also eating plenty durians, jackfruit, etc in that same day, repeated a few more times in the week, then you have hi chance diabetes creeping up on you. If every day you eat prata, pizza, sphagetti, pasta, carrot cake, sweet bread, the starchy kinds of gluten based foods, NAFL (non alcoholic fatty liver) conditions(you will notice you look pregnant when you're not) will creep up too. Of course if you go and run a marathon after all that gluten, then it's fine, but how often you go running? Then if you don't run but go to sleep/nap soon after eating, for sure heart disease will also creep up.
