I was quite young during Frank Burnside's tenure as Detective Inspector, leading to Chris Ellison leaving the show in 1993, but I still have memories of it. His return to The Bill in 1999 and 2000 as a recurring character, initially thought to now be on the wrong side of the law but now a full-fledged Detective Chief Inspector, temporarily back at Sun Hill station, much to the frustration of former boss Jack Meadows, was a great time in television for me, including the ongoing storyline about Jim Carver's Alcoholism. Ellison had left the show by then, but I thought making Don Beach a villain was unnecessary, and the same goes for new Superintendent Tom Chandler. The show changed after Burnside left for good, but I'll always love ❤️ the old days of The Bill
I think it went downhill in the noughties, with the soap style, over the top storylines, plus every other week a character was getting killed off! I stopped watching by then. The late 80s, and early 90s were the best. This is one of my favourite episodes. Loved the Roach and particular Burnside characters😊
Loved how Kim Reid was cool, calm and collected during that interview. She had all the qualities of a brilliant D.C.I so it came as no surprise when she moved on to become Detective Superintendent. She was definitely one of the show's vastly underrated characters in my opinion.
