Everything from day 1 has been SO professional ... inspiring and a brilliant learning platform for sure. Good guys.... fun and bring on some great "visitors" on the set to go into more details for wider audience.... geniuses Ian & Matt. Here's some motivation in return ... Matt.... you can NOT wait for cameras to give you the perfect outcome ... cause nothing but a robot will get the same result 2-3+ times in a row.... your swing is pretty much GREAT and more professional than many professional can or ever will be. Biggest part of a great golfer is his FEEL and CREATION from his mind to his body to make this and that type of shot happen... IF your hoping for a swing vision/thought.... feel or creation that wont fail ... your'e gonna be waiting a looooong time buddy. GO for it ... sooner than later... i expect you to learn more on the course in competition and faster then your'e doing on any cameras... 3D or other wise. Cameras make you work for a movement-change when all you probably need is to work on your feel with all aspects of out doors included. Love you guys... Cheers.... Iceland ;)

Information is Power. The more information you get, the powerful it becomes.
You need to get 100s of people on that machine across all handicap ranges and look for commonalities. If you can enter their handicaps and details on the clubs and shafts used, and the machine can do other calculations, then it becomes even more powerful. You'll get a point where the data is so encompassing, that once you collect swing metrics for a player, you can probably predict their handicap within 1-2 strokes.....and of course use all the causal information to make swing changes as well as club head and shaft selections.
    Its exciting to me.

It'll be cool to see the difference between a high torque and low torque shaft on something like gears. Since OEMs measure their torque values differently, it'll be nice to have a constant variable in Gears.

Happy to have contributed via Patron for some time, some time ago. Unfortunately my wife spent too much money on a friend who was in financial need and money was blown away for good. Therefore no support for TXG but y'all had more dedicated patrons.
It will be interesting to follow.
I hope to see shaft differences between stock shafts marked R or S where torque will vary and cause the shafts various movements along the entire shaft. Because the tip stiff may be way too tip stiff for the rest of the shaft viewed from users swing.
Sort if the same thing with differences between a "Tensei orange 50" vs. "Tensei orange 60" vs Tensei blue 60 or Tensei White etc.
Well done. It will be an interesting future.

When I see Matt's 'old' golf swing, it makes me think of McEnroe's Serve - he stood differently so effectively he swung back more inside but then came 'over the top' from being overly inside so effectively is wasn't 'over the top' and it worked perfectly. Matt, take this feedback from someone who could mimic all the top tennis players' serves when I was competing, and used them for desired shots, and add now Tiger reverting back to his 'old' self taught feels, and further Justin Rose now saying the same things, don't overly change 'your' swing to be the 'perfect' swing because it's not your swing - and your swing is perfectly functional. Let GEARS show you things about your swing so you can better understand it - but don't change it. Your 330 yard drives and 215 yard 6 irons are Tour Level consistent already.

Ian, looking forward to your insights about GEARS as your exposure and knowledge grows. Like a few others have posted I have also had a session on GEARS, the big takeaway from my session was how heavily I stress the shaft, although I generate low club head speed. I recorded up to 70mm toe down and 35mm forward kick, with a driver swing generating just 76mph. GEARS also reported a loss of up to 4 mph of kick speed. Data was recorded with a stock Tensei CK Red 50 regular in an M3. While interesting, it is useless in isolation because I don’t know how much stronger to go, plus I don’t know if I would feel comfortable with the ‘right’ strength of shaft. Finally, where in Scotland am I going to find a collection of stable 40 - 50 gram shafts to test. I did take a blind chance on a DF 50 regular and while more stable, I have not seen and distance increases. Perhaps the Diamana X17 or the Speeder diamond would have been better guesses.
By the way I understand the data also highlights issues with my delivery mechanics but I had lots of lessons, loads of training aids (even an Explaner), I even tried superspeed, but nothing has moved the swing speed.
Keep up the good technical content.

Great stuff and can't wait to see the effect of those variables Ian was mentioning. Please do shaft weight first! I see golfers compensate in all kinds of ways to shafts that are the wrong weight (what I can see live or slow motion video), but would love to know exactly what Gears picks up to know exactly what changes in the swing. - Dave

  • @alldayrays7110
    @alldayrays7110 5 лет назад +1

Wow! That’s a ton a data and with only a small portion of data points applied in this premier. How hard will it be Ian, to parse through all this data to come to a conclusion on how to apply it to the fitting? Seems like you could get lost with that many datasets. I am just now getting my head wrapped around spin rates, swing speed, ball speed, angle of attack, launch angle, etc. This certainly seems like the future of player training and club fitting. Amazing work guys!! Enjoyed the first installment. Cheers!,

Great show as always. Even with this short, look see video, just goes to show the complexity of the golf swing. This bit of kit will be great for the physicists among the audience. You mention you will be using it as a research tool so is TXG working with academic institutions or OEM's to enhance knowledge and understanding of the wide variety of golf swings - high to low handicap golfers to College and professionals and how to improve club design?

Once you become accustomed to the body suit as well as the club elements, I think it would be equally interesting to watch a set of putts being made. How still is the body, for example, and which parts move that you didn’t expect? How much of a loop does a player make in the few seconds of a putt? Those sorts of things. Thanks!

I’ve asked this on your Q&A show that aired 4 days ago so in case you only look a few days after, here’s my question. Hi, I had used a SC Newport 2 2012-2017, but was told in a fitting that face-balanced was best for me as i would fight the putter opening at impact. I’ve liked SC Phantom 5 and now use a Piretti Rimini but it feels too heavy at 365g (putting weight in SS grip works to lighten head but overall weight is then heavy). What in your opinion is the best face-balanced blade putter out there that can be around 350g? Thank you for all your great content.
