omar khan because most anime and cartoons in the 80s and 90s had more style. They wanted to keep up with a more edgy style so when you hear retro wave, it reminds you of either edginess or the genre itself sounds like an 80s/90s style of music.
Its an amazing, badass, nostalgic show I've seen. It Kept all of its creativity and elements from the first seasons, while incorporating new characters and things along the way.THEY KNOW HOW TO MAKE CARTOONS!
omar khan if you understand time signature of both video and audio you can sync anything you want. Put some music on turn on the tube and hit mute it links up quickly
There is something about the OG 80s animation stuff that modern stuff overlooks. I feel like the old stuff grounds it to reality better by adding detail that the things would leave out. I also feel like the old animators got outside more and added more things that you only really see when your out a lot.
That second point is fair, scene transitions these days are as chaotic an experience of environments as someone scrolling through a feed or moving between areas in a dream
I'm one of the lucky few that own a rare copy of the original Rock & Rule - the first and best, before a studio fire destroyed their masters. Set to this dreamy eclectic music, the visuals spark all manner of wonderful R&R memories! LOVELY!
neros77 Sadly, VHS. I also have a limited edition DVD remastering of both the aforementioned Canadian release and the re-edited American version. Such a great movie, so ahead of its time. SIGH! MEMORIES!
That is awesome! Well I don't think VHS is that bad it's a very cool thing to have in your collection. Yes these visuals are damn good. Also nice to see something else than manga for once ;-)
neros77 Oh, I'm a super anime nerd too, rest assured. Mind, this video made me follow you, my being a weirdo Canadian toonaholic! Love your stuff! Thanks for the crazy time trip! WOO!
@Josh.V not the same... yes, slowed, but different tone, solos and some different accompanying parts. More like a second version Edit: Hence the different title
This song always take me back to when me and my brother smoked in front of our roof window and listened to this song. Now smoking alone, I realize we should enjoy every fking moment
this has been one of my favorite videos on youtube for a long time. I remember coming across this in 2017 and being immediately enraptured... this editing is spectacular, and incredibly well timed to the music. I wasn't alive in 1983 to have seen rock and rule back then, so this video's the entire reason behind how i know it exists at all... and im so glad for it
If i could capture the feeling i got watching this movie for the first time, i would share it with everyone. Such and amazing experience that i can't even begin to describe.
I see this as the soundtrack to a live action version of Rock and Rule.... Million dollar idea for free to anyone paying attention.... All I ask is for a part in the movie 😎
I feel Rock 'n' Rule is vastly underrated, it's one of those things that you see when your a kid, it buries itself into your subconsciousness, and it sticks with you into adulthood, it's easily one my favorite animated films of all time sitting right next to Heavy Metal. I seriously wish this movie would get a Blu ray release along with a legit soundtrack release as well, that final scene with "Send love through" still gets me to this day, I freaking love it.
If "Overdrive" is the song you pop in your cassette deck when you're outrunning the bad guys, this is what you you listen to on your day off when you go out for a late night cruise.
Wow, the animation from Rock N' Rule. The whole futuristic look is very anime-inspired (Macross particularly), though it's likely the other way around during the time period. I gotta look for this movie.
2 days and 11.986 views man this is a real climber!!! :D Thanks for watching I'll keep doing this - I guess you want more anime then ;-) Stay tuned in....!
I remember this cartoon! I rented it on VHS when I was a little kid in the mid-late 80s maybe and distinctively remember renting it twice because I was that mesmerised by it! ... Never forgot about the story but never knew the anime's name. Years later I tried to search for it on the net using the words "my name is Mok thanks a lot" and I discovered it! That song had stuck in my mind! Tried to contact the company that published it and asked whether they were going to release it on DVD (this is probably back in 2008 maybe) and they said no! Eventually, I downloaded it on the net, could not believe that I could actually find it! Thanks for uploading! There is another (similar?) anime that I had on tape as a kid, it was a short one. That one was about a rock musician (in the form of a mouse I think) who sold his guitar because he couldn't make any money from his music and his partner/girlfriend had cooperated with a big company who made her a massive music star, but she completely forgot about the other poor musician guy along the way! In the end it was revealed that the company is the "devil" in disguise and he was behind all this! He was selling music just for the profit but never cared about the ethical and honest work one puts for making good music! The girl decided to break the contract with the profit-making company but demons emanated from the earth and setup a trial where the "devil" boss was defending that she signed an agreement and can't break from it! Eventually the poor musician guy finds one tiny clause in the contract that breaks her free! I don't remember the name of the anime, it was all hand-drawn, if this rings a bell to anyone out there please let me know. I am sure I still have it on tape somewhere, but never bothered to go through my pile of VHS at my house all these years! Many thanks! ------- Edited: you know what? bruh this ain't disney.
Why does anime/old animations go so well with new retro wave ?!

How do you guys feel about the new samurai jack animation?

Yes, i am
I've never seen this movie but the synergy it seems to share with this brilliant song gives me a disconnected sort of nostalgia. I love it
Lazerhawk + neros77 = instant thumbs up

Rock 'n' Rule! Awesome!
"I don't want anything from you!" "I didn't offer you ANYthing, my dear... I offer you EVERYTHING!!"
Best song on the album, maybe his best song period imo!
It's one of Lazerhawks best songs that's for sure.

Damn It's been forever! I forgot just how well animated this movie really was.
basically overdrive, with with a chill vibe
I like it
Lazerhawk is one of the bands that started converting me to the 1980s. Kimagure Orange Road was a major factor too.
Lazerhawk, MN84, Mitch Murder, P101 and Lost Years etc Actually I could go on ;-)
Lazerhawk AND Rock and Rule mashup?! Instant beauty!
Reminds me of Old School HeavyMetal Magazine.
MrTurbowhitey or the movie heavy metal lol
Yes great style!!
Useful Entertainment no... Just Rock n Rule
Yep, that's the movie
That’s funny, because it reminded me of the movie “Goof Troop” on some really bad acid.
Thank you so much for bringing those Memories back! I never would have found that Movie again otherwise. Never stop doing what your doing.
Well the music fits the otherworldlyness of Rock & Rule for sure.
Great and thanks a lot! :-)
Such an underground movie man. People may not know they got a pretty badass musician to do a voice! Thanks for sharing this, I totally dig it.
Troy LeMoine You are very welcome! Spread the word..!
Two in my opinion. Debbie Harry yes but also the lead singer of cheap trick.
