How’s it doing 4 years later? I’m about to pull the handle and get one. I have Kubota equipment also. Excavator and such. Small trucking company and farm use. $1700 in 2023 now by the way.
I can’t believe how much they’ve went up. Im still very happy with it. I used it a few hours this week for the first time this year. It fired right up and works great. Depending on what you’re doing, I’d recommend buying some oversized tips to you reduce the pressure and keep the high GPM. I use the oversized tips for the house and camper.
@@JaredsShop Thanks for the good review. I put it off because I was going to get a hot washer and like you said they’re upwards of $5000 for a decent one. I think this Stihl will work well for what I need it for 90% of the time. I picked it up yesterday. Haven’t used it yet.

Be very careful with this BEAST and remember to do a test wash before you actually do your wash on the intended VICTIM! Get very familiar with that black torpedo valve adjuster sticking out the top of that orange colored plate and the nozzle used! I HAD a wrap on my UTV and forgot to adjust the torpedo! Long story short, I swept the hood of my UTV with the 40 nozzle and it peeled my wrap from my UTV like you shave corn off a cob with a sharp knife! The RB800 is an absolute beast and I fully intend to wreak havoc when I purchase the rotating nozzle. This thing is an absolute beast of a machine. If you want simple pressure washing, spend less and look onward! If you want to inflict absolute carnage on your intended cleaning surface, this unit is a closer! An absolute Pressure Washer GOD!
I agree. It is a real beast. Just wait until you get a turbo nozzle. It does an unbelievable job at cleaning and the sound it makes is awesome. I use oversized nozzles for a lot of my cleaning. Look up a tip size chart and then pick out some larger nozzles that are meant for something with a higher GPM. Tips are sized for GPM/PSI. For example, look up 4GPM and you’ll see a tip size of 4 is good for up to 4500 PSI. Using that same chart, a tip size of 6 at that same 4 GPM reduces the pressure to between 1500-2000PSI. Since the tip is larger the water flows out faster and the pump doesn’t have the opportunity to build up its max pressure. This is how “low pressure” house washers work. With that said, just because we run a tip size of 4 doesn’t mean the pressure washer will put out 4500PSI. That’s just the max pressure at 4GPM for that tip size. If you put a smaller tip on it that will make the pump work too hard and is hard on it.
Haha that was funny...I got the RB600 which is plenty for driveway and house cleaning. I don't use pressure washers on cars for exactly the reason you said, it can strip ceramic coatings too, or at least thin them
Timothy toolman I have a pivot coupler and an extension wand but need to check the rating on the wand. I bought it before this washer. The pivot coupler is funny because that beast sure makes it hard to hang onto when you have it pivoted. I’ll look into getting the rotating nozzle. Not sure I have a need for a surface cleaner but will research some. Most of my washing is vertical surfaces.
It’s funny that I literally had the same experience. I was kinda set on the Simpson, but the pump wasn’t blowing up my skirt. I had a Dewalt which is just a rebranded Simpson and I liked it pretty good, but again the pump was iffy. When I actually saw the Stihl in person, I was ruined. Nothing else in that price point could compare. I ended up getting the RB600 since I’m just using it for home use, but I couldn’t be happier. You can get away with cheaper tools and do great work, but honestly there is nothing like having tools you love to use because you know they are quality.

All of the pressure washer stores are selling the same size machine at the same price or higher. I couldn’t be happier with mine and still smile every time I fire it up. I’m amazed at how much better the extra gpm helps to clean. The extra psi is nice too, but the volume of water is where it’s really at.

I think you the right decission , i just bought a rb600 and its a great machine so far. Stihl have a much better frame. And the factory hoses are better.
I was able to get my hands on a pressure pro dirt laser 4440 Kohler engine 4 gpm 4400 psi for under 600 on Amazon. Must have been a mistake cause as soon as I checked out price went up to almost 1000.

Hi, Please help me. I am a wife who has a husband been looking for a good pressure washer for residential and also some commercial use. Maybe a powerful residential one will do the job. He is a truck driver and into flip/sell houses...so he would need one to do stuff for house, wash his 18 wheeler(1 truck) and also wash brick walls, concrete, and fence for the flip/sell houses. We thought about hiring people to wash the house for sell but then if we can do that ourselves, we can save money and eventually it will pay for itself and gets to keep it to use around the house too. Also, a bonus if it can do stain/paint the fence too. I know I am asking a lot...lol. I know it will be a lot of money but like the saying goes "quality comes with price". Plan on getting him as Cmas present as he has been a good boy...hehe. Thank you so much for all you do.
Mandie Garrett Are you looking for something on a hand cart such as this or something you can mount to a trailer? Most commercial washers have a unit mounted to a trailer with hose reels, tanks, etc. True commercial units are also usually belt driven, where this is direct drive. If you aren’t planning on doing much commercial work, and most of it is personal, then this would definitely work. The GPM and PSI are definitely on par with commercial units. It also has a commercially built pump with parts readily available. That’s one of the reasons I purchased this unit. I can go to my local Stihl dealer and get any parts for the unit, which you can’t do for other washers offered at local box stores. If you want to do more commercial work and travel around, I’d look at a belt driven unit and mount it to a trailer.
Very nice! How many GPM? If I’m not mistaken they are made by Briggs. Just be careful with that pressure. It can sure damage some stuff! Mine is all metal as well, including the gas tank.

You’ll love it. I have a pressure gauge but never turn mine down. Instead, I’ve purchased larger tips. I have a J-rod with oversized tips. This allows a lot of flow without the pressure being too high. It works great. It’s almost the equivalent of a low pressure high flow system.
Thank you for a good video. First time here. I’ve been thinking about this pressure washer since I saw it at our local Stihl dealer. I want to learn more about it. Is the engine a Honda engine? Is it a commercial unit ? I need it to wash heavy equipment, trucks and sidewalks etc.
El king Juan The engine is Kohler. Honda would not let Stihl put any orange on the engine and they wouldn’t let them stock parts and service it. Kohler was much more understanding and cooperative. I’ve had great luck with Kohler so I was happy about that. The pump is definitely industrial grade. Completely rebuildable with parts available.
Did you have the pressure turned down when using it on the caravan roof , I’m looking at getting one of these and wondering if it would strip the clear coat from the cars ,it didn’t seem like it was that much pressure in the vid . Thanks for posting also 👍
I use oversized tips when washing more delicate stuff. You can buy what’s called a J-Rod that has 4 tips in it and can get them sized to whatever you’d like. For example, a tip that is sized for a 4gpm pressure washer hold back enough flow that it makes the water come out hard. The bigger the hole the easier it is for it to come out so it isn’t as high of pressure. You can google pressure washer tip sizes to see what’s normal for your gpm and spray angle and then jump to tips made for a 6gpm or something like that.
I love my Stihl. Not only is it a beast, I like the fact that I can get parts for it at my local dealer if anything ever goes wrong. I’d say that’s important if you are planning on making money with it.
It is a Kohler engine. They don’t try to hide it or put their name on it. Stihl partnered with them for their motor on these units. Honda was unwilling to let the engine be painted with orange or white.
Travis Kinney How do they do on decks? I don’t have much concrete to clean but I could see how they would do a better job of cleaning decks than fanning back and forth. It’s always so hard to make it look good and not leave corn rows.

I can't believe they said to start it with out water to the pump. I'll have to look that up. My experience is that most dealers don't know what they are talking about. Most salesman rarely use the product it the field or own it, and not mechanically inclined in any since of the imagination.
Swamp Mule This guy isn’t your average sales guy. He can repair and work on just about everything there, owns tons of equipment, etc. I was surprised too so I looked it up. The ceramic pumps can run for a while with no water. You don’t want to run it for long that way but it doesn’t hurt it for short periods.
@@JaredsShop understood, there is wiggle room on just about every thing but you know how it is. You tell people they can have a inch they take a mile. So you tell people you can run it without water, then your guy starts it and runs it for a few seconds. Your guy says it's ok to run it for a few seconds (which truly probably won't hurt it) then the next jackass sees the video and tells someone it doesn't need water to run. This is how stuff like this gets started. In my experience SOME the most educated season mechanics are the hardest on there equipment and others. Remember half the viewers watching the videos are lacking the God giving common sense. That's why half are watching the videos to begin with. I would hate to see someone burn up a pump due to a miss understanding.

@@JaredsShop i got a DeWalt 4200 which came with a Honda motor. I was able to find one years ago with a cat pump on display before they were all changed you general pumps. I am a firm believer in buying a tool once, taking care it the best a man knows how. And hopefully keeping it for life or as long as possible. Even then there will still be problems you can not control. I just do my best to learn as much as possible so that user error isn't one of them. Nothing makes me more sick than to find out I caused the problem or got careless as results of mistake. I may be a little crazy when it comes to this kind of stuff. Sorry

Well the Owners Manual says to never start the pressure washer with out the water supply hooked up and turned on. ( Page 16) This is what's wrong the America to many people getting paid to do jobs they do know how.
Swamp Mule I’ll go review the manual. I researched pumps in general when I found what I did. Another thing a lot of people don’t know is to not let your washer run for very long when not depressing the handle. Leaving the water dead-headed in the pump creates a ton of heat and will eventually dump the valve.
@@JaredsShop Yes I got so paranoid with this, at one point I zip tide my Handel opened. I know not real safe. But what I found is it's easy to loose track of time when moving stuff around to wash. Thats what I would think would happen to someone when they are running it without water. "I'll let this run for a few seconds while I go over there and do that." Next thing you know a few minutes have gone by. Pressure washers are one of the top things that I would never let someone borrow. To many ways to tear it up or hurt themselves.
I am a professional washer and most of my equipment is mounted on my trailer...belt driven and feeds from a buffer tank. However, I need a smaller unit that is portable because there is always something that you can't get the rig close to. I was looking for a new 4gpm unit and saw the Stihll...was really interested until I learned of the Kohler engine...that killed it. The last smaller unit I bought has the Kohler engine...NEVER again will I buy a Kohler...it WILL NOT consistently start...been that way since it was new. In my business, I depend on my equipment to be ready to go all of the time...that Kohler on that unit has never been dependable...it has been a dog since it had about 7hrs on it, thus, that killed my interest in the Stihl. I buy top quality equipment for my business and, for me, Honda is the only choice that I have for pressure washer power. I hope you have great service from yours!
I’ve had it both ways. Here I am 3 years later and the Kohler still starts and runs excellent. The Honda on my other washer? Yeah, it starts but doesn’t run well. Had the same problem with a Honda in the zero turn. I steer clear of them. Honda is just a name and doesn’t have the quality they used to. They’re also hard to get parts and support for. I can go to any Stihl dealer and buy any part for this engine. That’s the biggest reason Stihl used Kohler. Honda refused to partner and offer support and parts but Kohler would. I couldn’t be happier.

It is less than 2yrs old and it is the reason that I am shopping for another small machine. It so disgusted me that I just gave it away...did not feel right about selling it someone...and I told the person that I gave it to about the problem it has been. At any rate...it was enough that I won't take a chance on another one...I need a machine that I can depend on being ready to go and I simply would not trust another one. I wish there were an option for power as I really like the design of that cart...heavy duty and it has to be easier to move around.. Anyway...glad yours is good. God bless!

While it may not damage the pump running it without water it why take the chance also it’s disappointing to see that Stihl uses one of ARs cheaper Chinese made pumps that they brand Made in R.O.C. to fool some consumers.

That’s not a Briggs. 😂😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️ You’re not paying for the name and there isn’t one on the market that’s better for less, especially once you consider the quality of the parts, availability of parts, warranty and service support, etc. It’s not a disposable like the cheap ones you’re describing.

This is made in the USA by Mi-T-M for Stihl. I would buy this washer again today as I’ve been very happy with it.

I bought a Simpson 3.0 gal a minute, added more hose with quick connects and a rotary nozzle. If you do not have a rotary nozzle, get one.

Thank you for a good video. First time here. I’ve been thinking about this pressure washer since I saw it at our local Stihl dealer. I want to learn more about it. Is the engine a Honda engine? Is it a commercial unit ? I need it to wash heavy equipment, trucks and sidewalks etc.

The engine is Kohler. Honda would not let Stihl put any orange on the engine and they wouldn’t let them stock parts and service it. Kohler was much more understanding and cooperative. I’ve had great luck with Kohler so I was happy about that.
The pump is definitely industrial grade. Completely rebuildable with parts available.

Did you have the pressure turned down when using it on the caravan roof , I’m looking at getting one of these and wondering if it would strip the clear coat from the cars ,it didn’t seem like it was that much pressure in the vid . Thanks for posting also 👍
I use oversized tips when washing more delicate stuff. You can buy what’s called a J-Rod that has 4 tips in it and can get them sized to whatever you’d like. For example, a tip that is sized for a 4gpm pressure washer hold back enough flow that it makes the water come out hard. The bigger the hole the easier it is for it to come out so it isn’t as high of pressure. You can google pressure washer tip sizes to see what’s normal for your gpm and spray angle and then jump to tips made for a 6gpm or something like that.

I love my Stihl. Not only is it a beast, I like the fact that I can get parts for it at my local dealer if anything ever goes wrong. I’d say that’s important if you are planning on making money with it.

It is a Kohler engine. They don’t try to hide it or put their name on it. Stihl partnered with them for their motor on these units. Honda was unwilling to let the engine be painted with orange or white.

You need a surface cleaner if you're going to make the most of that thing cleaning concrete.

How do they do on decks? I don’t have much concrete to clean but I could see how they would do a better job of cleaning decks than fanning back and forth. It’s always so hard to make it look good and not leave corn rows.

I can't believe they said to start it with out water to the pump. I'll have to look that up. My experience is that most dealers don't know what they are talking about. Most salesman rarely use the product it the field or own it, and not mechanically inclined in any since of the imagination.

This guy isn’t your average sales guy. He can repair and work on just about everything there, owns tons of equipment, etc.
I was surprised too so I looked it up. The ceramic pumps can run for a while with no water. You don’t want to run it for long that way but it doesn’t hurt it for short periods.
@@JaredsShop understood, there is wiggle room on just about every thing but you know how it is. You tell people they can have a inch they take a mile. So you tell people you can run it without water, then your guy starts it and runs it for a few seconds.
Your guy says it's ok to run it for a few seconds (which truly probably won't hurt it) then the next jackass sees the video and tells someone it doesn't need water to run. This is how stuff like this gets started. In my experience SOME the most educated season mechanics are the hardest on there equipment and others. Remember half the viewers watching the videos are lacking the God giving common sense. That's why half are watching the videos to begin with. I would hate to see someone burn up a pump due to a miss understanding.

You are exactly right and bring up a great point. It’s hard to try and make every video idiot proof. Maybe I give people a little too much credit about having some common sense. I’ll have to start reminding everyone not to blow dry their hair in the shower. 😄 I wish there was a way to edit the video once it was uploaded but there isn’t. @@JaredsShop i got a DeWalt 4200 which came with a Honda motor. I was able to find one years ago with a cat pump on display before they were all changed you general pumps. I am a firm believer in buying a tool once, taking care it the best a man knows how. And hopefully keeping it for life or as long as possible. Even then there will still be problems you can not control. I just do my best to learn as much as possible so that user error isn't one of them. Nothing makes me more sick than to find out I caused the problem or got careless as results of mistake. I may be a little crazy when it comes to this kind of stuff. Sorry

Same here. That’s how I was raised and I believe that’s how I’ve been able to accumulate so many nice tools. If you aren’t buying crap then you aren’t wasting your money replacing it. You can move on and spend your money on your next tool.

Well the Owners Manual says to never start the pressure washer with out the water supply hooked up and turned on. ( Page 16) This is what's wrong the America to many people getting paid to do jobs they do know how.

I’ll go review the manual. I researched pumps in general when I found what I did. Another thing a lot of people don’t know is to not let your washer run for very long when not depressing the handle. Leaving the water dead-headed in the pump creates a ton of heat and will eventually dump the valve.
@@JaredsShop Yes I got so paranoid with this, at one point I zip tide my Handel opened. I know not real safe. But what I found is it's easy to loose track of time when moving stuff around to wash. Thats what I would think would happen to someone when they are running it without water. "I'll let this run for a few seconds while I go over there and do that." Next thing you know a few minutes have gone by. Pressure washers are one of the top things that I would never let someone borrow. To many ways to tear it up or hurt themselves.

I am a professional washer and most of my equipment is mounted on my trailer...belt driven and feeds from a buffer tank. However, I need a smaller unit that is portable because there is always something that you can't get the rig close to. I was looking for a new 4gpm unit and saw the Stihll...was really interested until I learned of the Kohler engine...that killed it. The last smaller unit I bought has the Kohler engine...NEVER again will I buy a Kohler...it WILL NOT consistently start...been that way since it was new. In my business, I depend on my equipment to be ready to go all of the time...that Kohler on that unit has never been dependable...it has been a dog since it had about 7hrs on it, thus, that killed my interest in the Stihl. I buy top quality equipment for my business and, for me, Honda is the only choice that I have for pressure washer power. I hope you have great service from yours!
I’ve had it both ways. Here I am 3 years later and the Kohler still starts and runs excellent. The Honda on my other washer? Yeah, it starts but doesn’t run well. Had the same problem with a Honda in the zero turn. I steer clear of them. Honda is just a name and doesn’t have the quality they used to. They’re also hard to get parts and support for. I can go to any Stihl dealer and buy any part for this engine. That’s the biggest reason Stihl used Kohler. Honda refused to partner and offer support and parts but Kohler would. I couldn’t be happier.
@@JaredsShop Glad that yours has been good. I had every expectation that mine would be...that is the reason I bought it without hesitation. It proved to be nothing but a source of frustration. It is less than 2yrs old and it is the reason that I am shopping for another small machine. It so disgusted me that I just gave it away...did not feel right about selling it someone...and I told the person that I gave it to about the problem it has been. At any rate...it was enough that I won't take a chance on another one...I need a machine that I can depend on being ready to go and I simply would not trust another one. I wish there were an option for power as I really like the design of that cart...heavy duty and it has to be easier to move around.. Anyway...glad yours is good. God bless!

Ha ha. Nope. Not even close.
While it may not damage the pump running it without water it why take the chance also it’s disappointing to see that Stihl uses one of ARs cheaper Chinese made pumps that they brand Made in R.O.C. to fool some consumers.
I’ve been very happy with it and don’t think there’s another pump I’d take over this one.

Na my 4200 psi 4.0gpm dewalt with Honda engine is the the better choice. Don’t take my word for it tho just check out the ratings and reviews it has

You’re not paying for the name and there isn’t one on the market that’s better for less, especially once you consider the quality of the parts, availability of parts, warranty and service support, etc. It’s not a disposable like the cheap ones you’re describing.
