No one had ever made such an explanatory video of the ES-5 in history. Never! This video is the best you can find on youtube. You keep making content for the ES-5 that there are many owners but there is not much information. You have a new subscriber. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Greetings!
That was a fantastic video. You explained the process perfectly. The song was good also. I'm tying to get my strymon pedals working on midi. Keeps turning on the looper on the timeline. Thanks for your help.
Sorry for the late reply. Strymon on has very clear midi commands in their manuals. I think it should be pretty easy to figure out your issue. Remember to take your time and take each step slowly. Good luck!
@@wrashchild I Found it. After setting all the MIDI slots (1-8) from Ctrl1 = 80 to Ctrl1 = OFF I hit the > right arrow and there was another Ctrl2 = 81. I set that to OFF for all MIDI slots (1-8) and it solved it. Evidently 80 & 81 is the default on the ES-8 for all patches. Thanks for your reply..🎸🎸🎸🎸👌👌
Is it possible to auto shift a whammy using JUST a Boss ES-5, like Muse's Map of The Problematique, or not? Would love a video on how to do auto pitch shifting with a digitech whammy and an ES5, with or without a computer... Thanks for the great content!
@@wrashchild I did thanks! After owning an ES-5 for 5 years, never thought about joining the FB group, duh ha. Turns out not possible really, think I'm gonna shell out for the Riff Step Whammy Enhancer and have some fun...
Good Video but I'm still having a hard time controlling my Nemesis Delay pedal over midi connection , never had issue with my previous Boss DD-500 .Basically I'm unable to recall delay effect after programming it ...
Source Audio midi is usually straightforward. Connect the Nemesis to a computer and check which midi channel it’s on. It should be as simple as Midi Channel and then PC command
what midi cable are you using to connect all 5 pedals as well as the amp. Im stumped on how I'm going to connect the midi pedals and amp midi channel input. I also have a 50w 5150iii
You’ll need a midi box. A cable on midi out from the ES-5. Into a midi box. Then from there out to the pedals. You can chain them together too. As long as they’re on individual channels it will work fine.
As a new owner of an ES-8, I’m assuming the ES-5’a MIDI is the same or substantially so, as the ES-8, correct? Also, really basic but important question: when you show how it changes your MIDI pedal to a preset/program change, does that program change number, 57 for example, directly correlate to a preset number that either is a default on the pedal or one you have set up?
I’m very confident the midi works the same yes. Ah good question! So for example on the Whammy DT. All the midi programs are built into the unit. So 57 would always be whatever 57 would be. But for some pedals, such as the Ventris where you can move your presets around wherever you want, then whatever you’ve put on preset 57 will be what it’s changed to. That’s a good question and I hope my answer helps.
Is there any why to use the wah using this method?? I did all of this and work for my delay reports and reveb delay, but cant make it work on my Mobius with sending midi via es 5
Hi Oscar. There shouldn’t be any reason why it wouldn’t work. If you need more help I advise going to the ES Facebook group or even the Mobius one. But there shouldn’t be any reason why it shouldn’t work.

your channel quality is great for the short channel's period of time , you deserve the best, congratz!
Thank you! I’m a little busy at the moment but will be uploading more videos soon.

I think it might be the possible. I recommend joining the ES-5 Facebook group to enquire about this.

awesome vid - where did you get the pedal toppers from?
Thanks Christian. I think they’re Mooer brand ones. Very reasonable price I think you can get on Amazon.
Question: all midi changes you have to make manualy? Can you program and put the midi command on a footknob?
What do you mean exactly? Do you mean entering the command? You can program a knob to change only a midi command if you like.

Why no talk about the Strymon Conduit?
I didn’t talk about a lot of things. This is just what I own and what I use.
I have no idea what just happened. You explained it, I didn’t understand.
Do you own the ES-5? What are you trying to control?
If your using a pedal outside of a loop on the Es5, is it just a case of using the CC and a value?
Yes but only if the pedal has midi capability.
Can you use your expression pedal for using with 2 pedals trough the es-5?
Yes you can!
@wrashchild would that just be putting 2 assigns on the same bank/preset both with EXP as the source? 😮
Nice👍👍👍👍

Hi, can i save the preset parameters of the boss sy-200 to boss ms-3 via midi?
I’m not sure about MS-3. This is the ES-5
@@wrashchild so the es-5 can?
The background music makes this otherwise informative session almost impossible to listen to, especially when demoing the patch changes.
