@SabreWolferos Yes in the movie it was great. But if you would be there you would shit your pants even in a russian tank. In reality germans lost far less tanks than soviets. Of course soviets had a lot of them so it was not a problem. For germans it was a defeat.
@CorvusCorpseater Crush the fascists? :D I think you skipped some 65-70 years of history. Now there are no fascists to crush. And by the way, Germany was "nazi", and Italy was "fascist". Soviets used "fascist" to germans because nazi is "national sozialist" and the "soviet sozialist" is far too similar.
Russian fast tanks are not extremely outstanding, other than the fact that the BT series can outrun pretty much every other motor vehicle in the world thank to Walter Christie.
Well they are breakthrough tanks, they perfectly achieve the specific role they were made for. Their gun is actually not bad, but yeah no armor for good speed. Theoretically they dont need armor as in an offensive they had to breakthrough and go deep into enemy lines and destroy everything. In the japan-soviet border conflicts the BT series was however used as a fast response force against Japanese breakthroughs, with great success.
If Hitler did not fuck up the conquer of Caucasian oil rigs by sending most of divisions assigned to them to Stalingrad, this "most powerful tank army" would've easily been overrun by the Panzerwaffe.
