- Heat Replay of Jack Robinson vs Nathan Hedge at the Outerknown Tahiti Pro - Round of 16
The most critical wave in the world is now somehow more extreme than ever. Added to the mutant barrels, committed drops, and razor-sharp reef is the fact that Teahupo’o serves as the last fight for the WSL Final 5. The women get their first shot at the famed barrel in 16 years and the world’s best surfers get one last chance to lay it all on the line for a spot in the Rip Curl WSL Finals.

Hedge kicked number 1 and 2 on the rankings, that's all. What insane heat. Jack Rob my favorite non-Brazilian is turning into a monster.
Aussie tears Robbo needs an Ambo Jerkin the Gherkin
Robbo King of the Gronks 😆
Surfa de mais mesmo! Tem uma técnica diferenciada. Mas que nesse ano teve MUITA ajuda dos juízes, sim ele teve. O novo queridinho da WSL
@@pablodagamamoreira619 beat it kook, no brazzo comes close to robbo when the waves are good. stick to ya tricks kkkkkk
@@sandmonkey1243 is there a such thing as a favorite brazzo? I mean there is ugly, and less ugly, surfing wise, but no faves, thats for sure.... you know who rips as hard as the brazzos but with style? the locals from bali/indo.... they would absolutly WRECK the brazzos in a contest.
@@xisotopex Yago rips, Bali locals shred.
Best heat of the year
Definitely on the leaderboards of great heats, JJF v Slater 2014 taking the crown
Taj vs JJF cloud break
Already become legend this heat. One for the ages. How Robbo lost after such mesmerising top end surfing from him is incredible in itself. But Hog had other ideas and he resurrected full on old school gung ho to bludgeon his way to an astonishing come back win. He simply wouldn't be denied.
HEAT OF THE FCKIN YEAR!!!
Na João all fuggin day
Stunning to watch as both surfers gave a riveting performance.
Wow. Great heat. Hedge’s one drop was insane though followed by the shock of “how did he make it out of that tube?”
Hedge may have won but I was more impressed with Robinson's performance.
@@josephwiard6695 of course you wasn't , he had clothes on ya pillow biter
Jack proved he had the best barrel riding on a technical level, hands down. Hedgy proved he can turn sketchiness around in a pinch to survive a massive wipeout. So what’s better? A guy who can recover from what should be a wipeout and make a wave? Or a guy who is so good that he makes insane barrels look like nothing because he takes off and rides so perfectly it looks like nothing? Personally I think Jack was robbed. No one, not even Kelly, demonstrated the kind of precision out there that Jack did. It wasn’t even close. When everyone else was hanging on for life and hoping they made it through, Jack put himself in the perfect place at every split second to ensure nothing was left to chance and he maximized the coverup on every wave until the very end.
Only other guys on the planet with backside barrel riding like Jack’s is John John and Kelly. At least in competitive surfing
Robinson definitely surfed better , but the scores are right , hedge had the best scoring waves
Wayyyy tldr
@@calebm2805 you definitely cannot take Medina off the list. Otherwise, I agree.
@@calebm2805 agreed. But I think what Jack did was so good the judges were too stupid to understand.
I remember watching hedge surf as a kid, stills surfs as good as ever what a legend
That should be a bloody 10
Judges always trying to push robbo
Hedgey showed once again how to tame this beast
Aussie tears get fugged
Que bateria espectacular foi está??? 😲
Parabéns aos dois surfistas, por este espetáculo!!! 🤩😍
Uma das melhores baterias‼️✅🇧🇷
The 9.87 was a 10 and the last one was 9+. Hedge was absolutely great in this heat. JR was pushed in many heats this year and I was chearing for FT to win this year but after FT shame heat today I just don't care. Whoever wins but him will be a deserving Champ.
This is absolute facts but he will still however because without griffin and Medina he is the best surfer at trestles 😂

Amazing
Robinson surfed flawlessly. I’m not even one of his fans but shame someone had to lose here
Tons of amazing barrels by all. the progression is incredible. I think Nathan H took this contest in a way though. Most amazing waves overall - though so many by everyone. It's a war out there.
Ano que vem com Medina cheio de vontade, JJF renovado e Yago como Samuel 100%, esse Jack vai sentir o peso de competir com os melhores.
Awesomeness alwwwaaayyys yeeeaaahhh!!!!!!!!!
Nates waves were better, doesnt matter if jack was smoother
incredible surfing
Holy crap!
Nathan my new Hero...
JR was deeper than hedge on better and hollower waves, showing objectively more technical skill, but when you watch the guy surf its almost boring as you can just see that no matter what hes coming out. Hedge had the wow factor in this heat, his waves were insane to watch but only because of the imperfections. It says a lot about the way the sports judged that he won.
deeper than hedge on better and hollower waves? u trpping... is just the opposite
No claims
old school schooled the new school!!!!!
Too close to call but Robinson was in control and barreled as deep. I give Robbo the nod.
Super sick for Hedgey, but Jack was my power surfer :( hahahaha
What a heat
wow!
Amazing heat Nathan Hedge being the party pooper. Better keep that champagne on ice.
Should have been a 10
Anyone that thinks this wasn't the best heat of the year is dreaming.
Hedge Rukes!!!! middle agees up! showing how is done!
Peak competitive surfing right here
Air drop to big spitter, gnar!
Nathan didn't just get SpitOut he got LOOGIED!!
I completely disagree, although I will admit jack surfed an amazing heat and put on a technical barrel riding clinic (which is well reflected in the scores), Hedge’s 9.87 was well deserved and I would argue even underscored, you write as if hedge made that drop off of pure luck, as if he just stumbled into that gapping chopes pit while being ingulfed in the largest plume of spit most mortal has laid eyes on. What Hedge displayed was experience, only a human who has spent hundreds of sessions dialing in that break can do what he did. Somehow taming an elevator drop, setting the rail and gliding out after what felt like an eternity to the roar of every surfer in the channel. Peter Mel and Kaipo said it best “he was blind in that barrel traveling off of braille”. Although you could say he almost wiped out he didn’t he made a near wipe out look controlled and buttery, he turned what could have been a roll through the reef into a near 10. Jack deservedly got to excellent scores, but Hedge displayed how experience a ,few minutes and two perfect waves can turn a heat. But neither of us should really argue about this to much, Surfing is subjective, ultimately it’s in the eyes of the beholder, and we are all biased towards our favorite surfers. That’s what makes it fun to watch you can live through your hero’s experiencing their victories along side them, and unfortunately also there loses. Everyone hates when there favorite surfer loses and sometimes the judges get it wrong. Shoot when John John lost in Portugal this year I blamed it on the commissioner for running it in shitty conditions. Surfing is surfing, contests are contests, heats are heats. Let’s just have fun, admire the sport and its athletes, and simply be thankful we get to see two surfers duke it out in the best waves in the world.
The HOG !!!
If anyone had to knock robbo out I'm glad it was hedgey
HEDGE putting up some fierce competition…showing those youngins whos boss lol
Jack didn't even get a reach around from the judges
2:39 This one was worth a 10 all day and every day... Hedgy is still the master, here. Kids need to grow !
@Mike, You have no idea, we are sick of seeing Jack being favoured, and if he is as good as you say, what happened in Bells against Italo, in wez oz against Jonjon, etc. Here today Nathan has proven to be much better than him, and that 1st wave was a 10. And what is Robo doing gesturing to the judges, maybe asking for another push for Trestles?

OMG best hog
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 wsl . You caught in your own trap. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😢
Don't know why hacks are even competing, these old blokes need to be moved aside in their own comp.
Aussie tears Robbo needs an Ambo Jerkin the Gherkin
Robbo King of the Gronks 😆
The Hog was charging , but obviously the Judging Panel can’t comprehend the difference between Hedgy’s great surfing , and Jack’s pure mastery of backhand barrels. Judge the surfing - not the wave.
In Teahupoo waves are most important, obviously.
Both 9th are similar, and Nathan¨s 8.. is cearly better than Jack´s
@@sambaman The wave always counts everywhere- but no one was doing the brilliant technical surfing Jack was doing out there, and the judging needs to progress to reflect this.It was an epic heat any way 👌👌
Woulda loved to have seen Toledo vs Robinson. Trestles? Lmfao. The wave is soft. One of the softest waves in Cali
