Congratulations to Billy on the job. And Michelle, please take time to rest. Even if it means no videos for a week or two. We'll understand. Your health is more important. Love u two.
That first month is hitting me like that too and I'm teaching the same curriculum. I'm also super proud of you for putting this up today and not adding more stress by staying up all night to get it up yesterday.
We should not put so many expectations on her. I see people making comments how bummed they were when they didn't see her vlog Saturday. Teaching is stressful. Her body, Billy, and her students are her top priority. RUclips and TPT should not be her number 1 priority. We don't want her burning herself out trying to please us. Seriously girl we all can wait. You come first. Teaching is your passion and it is who you are. If you are not at your best health, you can't be at your best for your kids.
Momma_3 Maestra Yes! 100% agree. I will still follow even if she doesn't post as frequently or as long of videos because I learn so much from them. She needs rest and people have to chill!
In my board we often use traffic lights to help students self regulate their volume. Green means they are at an appropriate volume level. Yellow is a visual cue that if the teacher switches to it they are starting to cusp on being too loud. The students then need to start to get quieter and once they do the teacher will move them back to green. Red means things are far too loud and they need to now work silently until the teacher moves them back to yellow and hopefully finally green. As a fellow teacher, love watching your weekly vlogs on the weekend!
Michelle, please take time to rest . If you don't get enough rest you'll get sick and you will not have the energy to help your kudos and put up your uplifting videos. Congrats to Billy. God bless you both. 😌
I've seen teachers use traffic light symbols as a way to let the kids know what voice levels they should have. Red is for silent. Yellow is for whisper, and green is for loud. I would think green would only be used in maybe group settings where they are working as a team.
Really appreciate all the time and effort that you put into your blogs michelle we all really appreciate and it always brightens up my day and makes me want to be a better teacher 😘
Michelle, balance yo'self, girl! We love you and want you to take care of yourself! Until things get settled, consider what you can do to make more time for you, Billy, and sleep. You guys come first.
Michelle, you are amazing... keep doing you and don't let the haters or complainers bring you down. We love you and we enjoy your videos! Hang in there girl! 😀
I agree with the clean font that you mentioned. It's also important that the font is modelling correct letter formation - for example some cutesy fonts are a mix of lower and upper case letters or has letters with tails standing on the line.
I'm so glad that you're at a school that you LOVE! As someone who's currently going through a shift in schools, I think that having a school where you're co workers and supervisors value you and support you in your teaching is FABULOUS! :)
Yay!!! I love your videos, I look forward to your videos so much. But then I feel guilty because I know you have such a busy schedule, and don't want you to feel obligated to get these videos up, during teacher tired time. So thank you for being you! You rock :)
Omg I can't express to you how excited I was to find learnzillion. Pocketful of Primary is a lifesaver as usual. Yet again I adore when you give us all these useful classroom sites My kids are constantly laughing at how often I trip/fall during the week. I ran into my file cabinet last week, a desk, and literally part of the lunch table. Clumsy teacher unite. Lastly would you be willing to share your slides for morning meeting or template
Thanks for posting! Put you first always! We love your videos but we also want you to stay happy & healthy. If you're stressed, don't worry about us! Lots of love!
Hey Michelle, it seems like this new school (and district) are a good fit for you. That is amazing because it can feel like you are swimming upstream when you are not in a space that suits your energy and creativity. You seem so happy and it looks like you are staying on top of everything. I think being departmentalized helps too. Trying to plan for ALL subject areas in primary grades these days has become more challenging because it seems as if schools are moving away from integrated units. Hopefully eventually there will be a happy medium and teachers will be able to catch our collective breath. Hope this school year continues to go well.
It's definitely just the beginning of the year. I had so many breakdowns this past week. I'm taking night classes to get my masters, tutoring, babysitting, and coaching a girls running team. It's a mess! But it's just something I gotta adjust to. We can do this!!!
Casually listening to your vlog in the background and my head shot up when I heard "with the pumpkin..." When Michelle ordered at Dunkin Donuts.... That flavour change took me out for a few seconds 😂😂 #LongLifeFrenchVanilla

We started school July 31st and August was so hard. I love your videos. I seriously put your videos on and they motivate me to be soooo productive. ❤️❤️❤️ Also about emails, I usually answer them during lunch, and during like warmups. PS I'm so happy for you!!!😍
As teachers, we ALL need to look after ourselves and protect our wellbeing. We work hard because we care- but we won't be of any use to the children exhausted. Good luck to all of the teachers for their new classes.
Hi, I am Tom. I am also an Elementary school teacher. I worked in third grade for several years. This past year I was in 4th grade as well. I am not new at being thrown a curveball but change stresses me out. I have been watching your videos since last summer. I love it. It's therapy. I sometimes feel that I am losing my mind. Thank God I am not alone. I start my school day at 7:00 AM, so I usually wake up at 5:15-5:30 AM. Teachers here begin work in August 1st. Students usually arrive the week after. It doesn't happen every year. Some years, you receive them the same week you come back to work. The beginning of the school year is always a crazy time. I completely understand what you go through. I always want my classroom to look awesome, dynamic, comfortable and clean so it takes me a very long time to get it fully ready. I hope I get enough time for it this year. I am also an insomniac. I have to force myself to bed sometimes. I totally get it. But yeah, something to work on. Hahahaha! However, I love it. I love my life. Teaching is not a job, it's a life. I feel its where I am meant to be. Wow, everyone here is a teacher. This is interesting. It's nice to meet you all !
I’m so glad you put this video up today instead of yesterday! Please, please, please start taking better care of yourself. You’ll end up sick if you don’t start getting more sleep on a regular basis. I speak from experience.
I've been following you for a long time and your vids from last year were always sad around lunchtime was never sure what to expect by the end of the day and it broke my heart to see you in such turmoil - THIS YEAR THOUGH I am so so so so happy to see you happy and to see how much you're loving what you do best! Congrats to Billy on the new job - excited for the rest of the year - love from Senegal x
Yay for Billy!! And I totally feel you about trying to get settled with planning and trying to get a grasp on everything. I'm on week 6 of school and I'm finally feel like I've got things down more.
You make me so excited to be a teacher! I'm only in my sophomore year and I'm already so pumped to get in the classroom because of you. You're so great, thank you for all you do for your students and for teachers everywhere!
Seriously the best video to watch while breast feeding a newborn and trying to stay awake. ❤ Have a feeling I'll be going back to binge watch all the others.
Google drive is life!! i thought i was late going onto the google drive bandwagon as a teacher but im so glad I wasn't the only one! Hope you have a great week this upcoming week!
I'm so excited about the classroom vlogs! I binge watched them all last night. On another note, I love you Michelle, please take care of yourself, and keep taking care of yourself. I wish the absolute best for you and for Billy.
My junior year of high school, I was taught math that way (without the skits and drawings though) and it actually helped me a lot. I had never been good at math, but something about this approach just made a lot more sense to me. I also gained a lot more confidence, because I could figure out a lot of skills on my own/with a small group. I think it's great that your county is starting off with these techniques at a young age.
Omg the all nighter bit had my hand over my mouth lol! I pulled an all nighter Wednesday, but i was off Tuesday and slept in until 3pm. I got off at 3pm Wednesday which was the 24 hr mark that i had been awake. I went home and crashed! Lol! Took a small nap and i was back on track! I feel you girl!
Michelle- I’m an elementary music teacher (15 years under my belt but still feeling like a beginner) on my way to getting my multiple subjects credential (for many reasons). Any way, your vlog is so helpful and inspiring. Your experiences get me so excited for my career change. Like others have said, please don’t hesitate to rest and take a break from RUclips. Teachers, in my experience, tend to over do! ❤️
I love you and your videos! 💚 thank you for taking the time to share your life with us and just doing everything you do for all those kids! Your amazing! They have an awesome teacher!
Congratulations Billy! Michelle I know the beginning of the year is always busy but once you find some sort of balance you'll be set. Remember you'll never get everything done every day. It just can't be done. I have plan book- I have the odd week where I don't use it because the timetable is just alllllll over the place or I've changed our timetable and haven't changed it in planbook yet.
I love your videos!!! They are really helpful and inspiring as I prepare for my first year of teaching! I will be the only 4th-grade teacher at a STEM Magnet school on an Air Force base in Texas for 22 students self-contained. So excited! Thank you and wish me luck!
I teach K-5 music and it’s great because each grade level has a different color set of books so I’ve color coded all of my plans and classroom materials to match the grade level colors. It keeps me on track so well.
Your videos are so inspiring! (What I would've give to be a fly on the wall in your class to see what sorts of awesome things you do to keep your kids engaged!). Thank you so much for sharing so much of your professional life with us!
Michelle - If you love using Google Drive, you should also look into using Google Classroom. It's a great way to have students answer exit tickets on a Google form (if your class has access to a chromebook every day). It's also a great platform to use for the notes like Google Drive but students can also check it when they are absent and do the work. I used it in my middle school classes last year and thought it was FANTASTIC! Great video this week. I can't wait for the next one. :)
I would LOVE to use Google Classroom! Unfortunately we only have Cromebooks for about 50 minutes once a week so it isn't possible. Plus, during that time our students have other programs that they have to access as mandated by our county. Thanks though!
Thank you so much for giving us a peek into your life! I have a degree in cell biology, but I think I want to go back and get my elementary education degree. Your videos are very helpful for getting insight into the life of an elementary school teacher! ❤️
Thanks so much for the video! You are right about the first few weeks. I always just tell myself over and over to get through week six and then things always seem better. I am going to play around with using powerpoints to put everything in one place for my group. I have a very fast paced group this year and I am wanting to be able to get to things more quickly, so that could be a great option. Just a note; when I have done units on flowers in the past, my local florists and nurseries have been great about giving me leftovers and things that they are not going to sell to use in my classroom. This is especially nice when we are doing work where I want lots of plants or flowers. They usually don't give me whole plants, but I can get lots of flowers and leaves that are leftover from arrangements.
Hey Michelle, I just found your channel recently and I am in love with your videos! I have binge watched sooo many of them :) I'm in college and I'm majoring in elementary education! I love that you are sharing your teaching experiences with us and sharing your classroom tips and tricks. I think it's really cool that I'm learning about these great websites and classroom tips now so when I do start teaching I can be a little more prepared. I want to say that you are an amazing teacher and I'm super happy that you are enjoying your new job! Also congrats to Billy for getting the job! I know I will definitely be telling my education friends about your channel! I hope you have a great week💜
I'm always so excited to see your Vlog! I am not a teacher nor do I have children. However this gives me something fun to watch while I take photos of clothing that I sell on eBay. You are a burst of sunshine and I always enjoy hearing what you are up to. Please ask your doctor for something to help you get some sleep. I'm on Ambien and it really helps. I cycle myself off of it every few weeks so I don't build up a tolerance. Just a thought 💙
Aw your hard work is so appreciated 💜 I know you're a perfectionist but please take care of yourself ❤️ everyone understands if the vlogs are not the most important thing right now
I really enjoyed the video, Michelle! Last Sunday I had one of those moments where I was typing but had no clue what errors I was making until I put it on the screen Monday! I hope this week you get some real rest!
I don't want you to take this the wrong way and feel guilty, but I so look forward to your videos. This blog was my "me" for teacher three this week! But, I totally understand if you need to take a break and get some rest. When you have time and have been there longer, I'd love to hear your advice about moving and moving to a new school. It's daunting, but your change is good attitude is admirable.
Yay another video couldn't wait to watch it especially when it's a long video. I can imagine how you feeling tired but Thank You for posting a new video I really do appreciate it. But Please do get some rest your health is way more important. Watching your videos makes me feel happy and I enjoy watching you every week. Love You Michelle and your Channel you're So Awesome!!💕💕
Hang in there! I have moved schools and grade levels too (KINDERGARTEN ahhh) and I teach fitness classes after work hours. It's a really challenging balance but just give it time. Give yourself grace and if RUclips videos don't go up when you want, then that is okay! ❤️
Before you go out and buy binder clips, try placing stickers of the colors that you want on the binder clips. What I do is I place one of those neon colored label stickers on the front and back side of the binder clip with the name of the subject on it (I teach two diff contents). So far it's been working great! They sell the label stickers at Walmart or target next to the round colored stickers.
Enjoy your videos you put out. I wouldn't worry if your videos go up later than planned, they are still good and well worth the wait. Thanks for sharing your ideas and tips.
Is it just me or does any other children watch her cause i want to be a Teacher and want to be like her and be a happy Teacher and keep doing what you do cause you are AW TO THE SOME!!!!
Congratulations to Billy on the job. And Michelle, please take time to rest. Even if it means no videos for a week or two. We'll understand. Your health is more important. Love u two.
Carol Register Tell her please!! No sleep is dangerous!
Carol Register its too not two
Carol Register Agreed!
Marayah T nope it's two for 2 people
Marayah T There are two of them. So I stand by what I wrote. "Love u two"!
I appreciate that you're comfortable with telling us when you and Billy fight.

you should put 2 i can statements in at a time back to back so then you just flip it over and use half of the page protectors!
That's a great idea
Good Idea, Ari!
Michelle, please take time to rest . If you don't get enough rest you'll get sick and you will not have the energy to help your kudos and put up your uplifting videos. Congrats to Billy. God bless you both. 😌

This is what we use!
Christina I use that method and it works great
There is a noise meter under tools in Class Dojo! Everyone needs to know this!
Who else wants Michelle to sell her Powerpoint templates on TPT???? YESSSSS!!!!!!
I love the honesty. Balance is hard to find, keep, and you telling all new, future, long term educators what the power of balance= 😊
Michelle, you are amazing... keep doing you and don't let the haters or complainers bring you down. We love you and we enjoy your videos! Hang in there girl! 😀

OMG! I Kept checking youtube all day yesterday and was about to cry when I didnt see it! Im so excited to watch this
I'm so glad that you're at a school that you LOVE! As someone who's currently going through a shift in schools, I think that having a school where you're co workers and supervisors value you and support you in your teaching is FABULOUS! :)
I was busy all day Saturday, so coffee with Michelle on Sunday was awesome! Former teacher living vicariously through your vlogs!!
Yet again I adore when you give us all these useful classroom sites
My kids are constantly laughing at how often I trip/fall during the week. I ran into my file cabinet last week, a desk, and literally part of the lunch table. Clumsy teacher unite.
Lastly would you be willing to share your slides for morning meeting or template
I am excited to use Leanzillion, also-but I don't see where the printables are that go with the lesson. Can anyone help?
For your I Can posters- you could hang up all five for the week on Monday so you only have to get out the binders once a week instead of daily. ;)
When you are a teacher and get two days to sleep to in but you still wake up to watch Michelle's videos!!!
Accurate!!!
Jackie Nicodemus YASSS me too!
lol same!
D. Bell amen about the happy medium some day!! We can dream right??
It's definitely just the beginning of the year. I had so many breakdowns this past week. I'm taking night classes to get my masters, tutoring, babysitting, and coaching a girls running team. It's a mess! But it's just something I gotta adjust to. We can do this!!!
Tynaiza Mon'e wow! That's amazing - good luck!!
Casually listening to your vlog in the background and my head shot up when I heard "with the pumpkin..." When Michelle ordered at Dunkin Donuts.... That flavour change took me out for a few seconds 😂😂 #LongLifeFrenchVanilla
Aaron Woodward I'm a French vanilla lover too!! Dumb question but I don't like straight up black coffee. I do love the Starbucks vanilla frappuico drinks that you can get at gas stations, I also love French vanilla cappucinos from wherever and then vanilla cafe frappe at actual Starbucks. Is a French vanilla latte the same as a cappucino? Im just scared to buy something and hate it bc money problems.. Do you know of any drinks I could get at Starbucks/dunkin that are similar to vanilla frappe in hot or cold form or cappucinos??
Aaron Woodward I tried the French vanilla because of Michelle and I didn't like it :(
Lol that’s hilarious! It took me by surprise too! #LongLifeFrenchVanilla
Yay thank you for putting the time and effort into these wonderful vlogs 😄
Michelle, it is sooo good to see you so happy and thriving this year. You really look like you've found a great fit for you.
We started school July 31st and August was so hard. I love your videos. I seriously put your videos on and they motivate me to be soooo productive. ❤️❤️❤️ Also about emails, I usually answer them during lunch, and during like warmups.
PS I'm so happy for you!!!😍
You could just use black binder clips but put colored tape or washi tape on the clips in the colors that you want.
so smart!
Easier to just order colors, she doesn't need anymore work
got my coffee I'm so ready, bless Michelle for making my day more positive
Same here!
As teachers, we ALL need to look after ourselves and protect our wellbeing. We work hard because we care- but we won't be of any use to the children exhausted. Good luck to all of the teachers for their new classes.

THIS REALLY GOT ME TO GET SOME SCHOOL STUFF DONE THANK YOU MICHELLE
The amount of resources (time, effort, materials, money) you invest into each lesson is insane! You seem like a great teacher, don’t burn out.

Your block one is your guinea pig class. That's what we call it in secondary. My 1st period laughs about it and they're usually cool about it :)
I was in 1st period math and my teacher called us her guinea pig class
Praying your ankle gets better! You're a gem. Keep up the great work.

Love your classroom style. Your enthusiasm is catching!!!! Love you
I am so thankful I found your channel and I am thankful you have shared so much, even though you are VERY busy :)
Those pink earrings and matching necklace are so cute!
I got the notification while I was sleeping . However it was so worth waking up, grabbing my cup of coffee and watching your video.
Your eyebrows are looking better! Congrats Billy!

I saw the Venus flytrap on your story!!!!!😃😁
Staples has bulk colored binderclip/paperclips, etc. (watching @ 7:00)
The best part about teaching secondary and having two preps is that by the second class I know what works and what doesn't!

Diary of A Mad Black Teacher Yes, she needs to get more sleep. And you re right it can be dangerous.
she dose need more sleep

This Vlog is helping me get motivated for the week. I almost like it better when you upload on Sunday's. I also love how Luna loves the camera!!
You could use the traffic lights for the volume of the class so they can see if they need to be quieter.
Casey Randall That is what I was thinking 🙌🏻
This is exactly what my Sunday night needed!
I always watch these vlogs at night and I get so hungry when you show your food! 😂
You are so organized and prepared I need you to organize my life 😂❤
I don't want you to take this the wrong way and feel guilty, but I so look forward to your videos. This blog was my "me" for teacher three this week! But, I totally understand if you need to take a break and get some rest. When you have time and have been there longer, I'd love to hear your advice about moving and moving to a new school. It's daunting, but your change is good attitude is admirable.
congrats Billy!! I'm so happy for you both!!!!!!!
Hi pocketful of primary you are such a inspiration I almost cried when I did not see your weekly vlog.
Isha Patel She posted on her Instagram. Poor girl was editing Friday night and it got deleted. She wasn't about to overdue it so she took a day off.
I have literally waited till 1 am my time to watch this. Yay! I love watching these videos!
Hey! You've given me a HUGE lightbulb moment!
Thank you!
I love watching your weekly vlogs. Sounds like you are in a great school and good luck with 4th grade.
Hang in there! I have moved schools and grade levels too (KINDERGARTEN ahhh) and I teach fitness classes after work hours. It's a really challenging balance but just give it time. Give yourself grace and if RUclips videos don't go up when you want, then that is okay! ❤️
I really need these hour long videos 😂 helps me do homework
Congratulations, Billy! 😊
Michelle, I think it's funny that you have been teaching for a week and an half and at my school I have been teaching for 4 weeks tomorrow!
If no videos for a bit means you sleep and are more effective overall, then do it.
I love your handwriting so much!!!
So Happy my notifications for your videos is on! Excited to view the video (:
Enjoy your videos you put out. I wouldn't worry if your videos go up later than planned, they are still good and well worth the wait. Thanks for sharing your ideas and tips.
Another awesome video, Michelle!!!! Loved it! So glad you are loving your new job!!
Is it just me or does any other children watch her cause i want to be a Teacher and want to be like her and be a happy Teacher and keep doing what you do cause you are AW TO THE SOME!!!!
Really enjoy your videos....very inspirational!
I love your videos! I just started watching your videos this week! You are an amazing teacher and are doing such an amazing job!
Had same problem with sliding magnets on whiteboard. Put masking tape on back, adds friction but magnets still stick.
That's a great idea! I will try this and see if it works! Thanks!!
WOW. You are so organised.
As an freshman in high school and my mom is a preschool teacher. I understand that first month struggle.
Does anyone notice Michelle says "drawling" with an L instead of "drawing"? Lol, must be a Maryland thing!
It probably is a Maryland thing, ha!
My daughter says it too and she is 25 and were from Arizona. lol. I totally tease my daughter about it too. She keeps on saying it like that.. lol
i say drawring (im in maryland)
I say ‘drawing’
I say drawling too I’m from MD too 😂
Michelle, my desk is waaaaaay worse! I have so many papers on my desk and I'm still trying to get my room organized. So, don't feel bad!
I've been waiting for this video all week!
