- WHY YOU SHOULD TRY A CHEFS TABLE.
One of the things I love to do on a cruise is the chef's table. Let me show you why.

Allow the splurge. You can get back at it tomorrow. The chef’s table is our favorite thing to do on a cruise ship. We just don’t take the time at home to do these things. Plus, they are far more expensive on land.
The chefs table on Princess Cruises is always outstanding. Remember Don cruise calories DON'T count.🙂
Just got back this morning about 1 am. Was on the Majestic Princess with a sister and brother in law. Had a wonderful time.
Is the Chef's table pricey? Is there anything similar with HAL?
The cheapest I’ve ever paid for it was $75 pp but it depends on the ship. All ships don’t offer the Chef’s Table.
I would like to do that...can u use OBC for it? I would never take my picky eating son tho
I think you can
When we did it several years ago on Princess it was $75. Going on Holland America next month & theirs is $142 but it’s not rated very favorably on Cruise Critic so I’m rethinking whether I’ll do that one or not. I still remember the one on Princess. It was fabulous! No wierd food, just all very well prepared and paired with the perfect wines. It started with cocktails, champagne and appetizers in the galley with the Chef. Then moved to the private table with the Chef explaining all the dishes. The sommelier was there to discuss each wine pairing. At the end of the dinner the ladies all got a red rose and a Princess hardcover cookbook signed by the Chef. I could barely roll myself back to my cabin but it was one of the best cruise ship experiences I’ve ever had.
Yea but so expensive!!!!
You spend $4000 on a cruise. An extra $100 for chefs table is nothing
.
Only problem they start with Elite-and work down closest I have gotten is waitlist #7. I am platinum next cruise fingers crossed
Don't beat yourself up. Glad that you enjoyed the experience. Love to see you so happy and tipsy 🤪 🙃
Tipsy Don is hilarious.
Sounds yummy will do next cruise. Thanks for your advice. Love your stories!
I did a chef's table on Princess years ago and it is still the best experience I have had on a cruise.
You knew it was going to be a tremendous indulgence. If you're going to go big, go really big! You have to be open, adventurous, and willing to suspend your usual eating habits. I soooo hope I can try it. It is my one hope for dining on this cruise.
What he said. Chef's Table is great for the food/wine/conversation pairing. I have seen chefs draw tears with their explanations of the effort and passion they put into their dishes. Bravo Don; you are right on. Good food for thought.
It’s also an additional charge, ranging $75 on up depending on the ship. I love the Chef’s Table. It’s a nice dining experience but I agree, you feel like you need a wheelbarrow to get out of there because you’re so stuffed.
I never did a Chef's Table but it sounds fun.....but Don, you really didn't need to eat everything! Ha Ha!
That food looked 'vantastic' 😁 Will have to try it at least once
I love to cruise! So many different ppl...so many different experiences !
Glad you had such a nice time Don. Never used the Chefs table as I am one of those people who have don’t experiment with different foods. It impressive to me to see the curtains come dow.
Don amazed me when he said “Some like rice, but not risotto.” Wow. And picky about their meat sauce. (I thought only children were picky eaters.)
.
I did it on my 1st cruise on Carnival Breeze. It was my best night. Going on Celebrity Equinox and have booked chef table again. Can't wait to enjoy that experience
Best experience on my Carnival cruise! Every item was wonderful. I even ate the sushi it was great & not fishy. The dessert plate was enormous! I've never been so full in my life!
When Don said the Chef's Table is not for picky eaters, he was talking to me.

I just booked this for the Carnival Miracle for a cruise to Alaska. My second Chef's Table- first was on the Vista in 2016. I am really looking forward to this!
We dined Chef's Table on Panorama. It was fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
I like what you said about passengers on a cruise all feeling like family, enjoying the same thing. And these days, with everyone required to be vaccinated, and tested, and required to use masks I feel that folks who choose to be on a cruise are united in their common embracement of science and healthy good sense and unselfish acts in protection of their fellow man. And the selfish, ignorant, and mask-paranoid who choose not to cruise at this time are thankfully staying home. This was my observation on my 4 cruises this year.
Greg, I really take issue with your characterization of people who choose not to cruise at this time as “selfish, ignorant, and mask-paranoid”. I’m a Canadian physician (retired). I’m obeying public health regulations and travel advisories because I follow the science and I believe it would be foolhardy and selfish of me to put other people and myself at risk by travelling internationally at this time. I’m looking forward to my next cruise a year from now, God willing, and based on Don’s advice, I am going to put the Chef’s Table on my bucket list. Meanwhile, enjoy your cruises, and good health to you.
We’re doing our first chef table on our January Royal Caribbean cruise. Looking forward to it!
Do the calories. Enjoy the experience. Just not too often. We want to try a chef's table on Celebrity, but so often, with their chef, it's heavily French and leans hard toward fish. So not sure if we'll do it.
Hey Don. My husband and I want to take a Princess cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. Can you recommend a place to stay for our night stay before the cruise. Don’t worry about a few calories just walk a little more the next day. Enjoy yourself as long as you can. Life is too short😊 Keep cruising and stay safe. Margaret from Nova Scotia 🇨🇦
You’ll work it off again ! Pleased you enjoyed it though
All of my Princess cruises now include the Chef’s table. You would pay a lot of money to have the same experience on the outside. I’m on a October 31 cruise on the Ruby Princess & I’m going to request a chef’s dinner just for my Internet group. This will be my 4th time that I have requested this & they have agreed to do one for us. Realize that the chef’s have 3 or 4 options that they can select for the chef’s dinner. It’s a meal that you will never forget. Perhaps Don will show us the group photo that they took. Great video😀👍👏
I would love to try it. What if you're a friend of bill?
can you choose not to drink link?
Yes they do have a non drink option. You just need to let them know.
Thank you Don . We will try it on our next cruise with Celebrity Equinox June 2022
The Chef’s Table on Princess is the ultimate cruise food experience!
Glad you enjoyed the Chef’s table and on your recommendation, I will try it at my next opportunity. 😊
What if you only eat seafood (pescatarian) can they substitute?
I am surprised to hear that you were so full after the Chef's Table! Were the portions larger? It's sounds like a lot of fun to me! I would love it.
Heard food on cruises doesn’t have calories that count. Methinks that is fake news. Great and interesting report.
you can feel better knowing that not a single cell in our body uses calories! They only use carbs, fat and protein. So, it might not have been as terrible as it could have 😁
I have too many food allergies and would worry about how I would react to foods/ingredients I hadn't had before. Sounds like a fabulous experience though!
You give them a list of your allergies & they accommodate you
Those portions were way too large got this kind of menu.
Just watch those carbs and you will be just fine!
Sounds amazing, I can’t wait to try it. I’m not a fan of wine but I’ll give it a try lol.
I did the chiefs table on my last cruise before the pandemic shut down Carnival out of Mobile with a kitchen tour. Loved every single minute of it!
Do you stil get the autographed cookbook?
chefs table is a waste of money..
You spend $4000 on a cruise. An extra $100 for chefs table is nothing

@@electrictroy2010 the food sucks....
Did a Chef's table on the Legend to Alaska. It was a fantastic evening.
*SOME OF IT LOOKS GROSS*
I would rather have spaghetti or lasagna and cheeseburgers or hot dogs or filet mignon *(AND NOT 1/2 RAW)*
The meat isn’t served raw if you say “well done” or “medium well”.
Don amazed me when he said “Some like rice, but not risotto.” Wow. And picky about their meat sauce. (I thought only children were picky eaters.)
.
Did a Princess chef’s table mid-transatlantic on my 65th birthday. Amazing experience all the way through, starting with a kitchen tour and ceviche before heading to the table. I would happily do it again.
Don you didn’t mention THE most important thing about “chefs table” … free or how much?… you get selected? Etc
I only know about Sky Princess - it's $115 per guest
We've booked the Chef's Table on our upcoming Celebrity Silhouette cruise. Unlike what you mentioned that you could only book when onboard, Celebrity allows you to book online through your Cruise Planner.
Good to know! We will be on the Edge in December.
@@Keep-on-ok, if you are interested in booking it, you should check the availability now. We're on a B2B in May/22 and in April of this year, I wanted to book it for the 1st leg and it was full but was able to book it for our 2nd leg. When I asked Celebrity if there was a waiting list, I was told that you'd have to check when you board. For my own information, I just checked our 2nd leg cruise and the Chef's Table is full so I'm glad I booked it when I did.
We’ve got to do this one day! Worth the calories 😁
Love the chef's table, can;t wait to do it again
That leg of lamb looks so good
Wish they would offer a vegan chefs table ❤️🌱
They offer vegetarian
I love the chefs table dinners! My daughter and I tried one on one of our first cruises on Carnival and fell in love with it..Yes, it is 'experimental' food, but boy is it good!
What ship??
Is don doing ok
Does anyone know, if you want to use the gym on Princess Cruises, if it’s a extra charge through the Spa for that. Or is it open to cruise patrons at no charge.
Costs extra
Do you think they would be willing/able to accommodate food allergies at a chef's table? I've found that cruise lines in general are really good at it, so I don't want to discount it at face value.
They ask for a list of food allery
If they have a non-alcoholic alternative to the wine, I'd consider it.
They always have non-alcohol as an option
Nice…..
I guess some people think it's worth the totally expensive upcharge.
How much if any iss it? No comment yep, nor from don, as to moneys! Free?
@@silviaeaston $119 per person
For chef’s table that price is low. I’ve seen pricetags of $500 at land-based restaurants
It's pretty pricey, isn't it?
No. Less than $100
We've done the Chef's Table numerous times on Carnival. My youngest daughter does not like fish/seafood but the Chef always comes up with something for her. Been with other cruisers that also are "picky" and the Chef always tries to accommodate, so even if you're picky or have dietary restrictions feel free to give it a shot. At least on Carnival they will call your room a day or two in advance to confirm any preferences/restrictions.

We are hoping to Chefs table maybe next September on the Discovery Princess.
Not for me, too puncee

We booked the Chef's Table on Odyssey of the Seas for Thanksgiving night! Can't wait!
I completely agree about what unites us. Great points, great video. Bon voyage 👍
I can't find pricing on Carnival's Mardi Gras (next month for us) Chef's Table (if we can get a reservation).
Thanks Don! I'm going to try this on my next cruise. European cruises are great for the calorie factor. All the excursions involve steps, walking, climbing of ruins, castles, waterfalls, caves, etc. I lost 10 pounds on my recent 16 day...and I proudly doubled down on dessert every night.

Your on a Cruise , EAT DRINK and be HAPPY ..There is always
time to lose that Weight !!
Hello Don , I really like that shirt you are wearing. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I am glad that you got to experience and enjoy the Chef’s table Although I have not been fortunate to have been chosen yet to be one of the participants I definitely am looking forward to the experience on Princess when I am selected in the future. Thank you for letting people know about this nice experience that is offered.
Just enjoy yourself... there are no calories when you cruise 😋😉
Doing it on the Carnival glory leaving out October 31
Know that feeling. Glad you enjoyed it.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the Chef's Table! We've done 7 Carnival cruises, and 6 Chef's Tables! Only reason we didn't do the 7th was because it got cancelled due to lack of reservations. I was devastated. But it is always so good. If they come out with a dish we don't care for, then so be it, the whole experience is always amazing. 💗
Was the menu the always different?
Been there. Done that. Also left with the meat sweats 🤪🤪🤪
OMG! That looks soooo delicious!
Best culinary experience ever. We do it every time we cruise.
Happy for you Don have fun
Just enjoy! Life is too short!
I agree with you Don thank you
Happy munching!
Have to put this on the to do list
How are you?wow
You liked it? You hate sauce.

It’s $95 with wine & $80 without.

Not difficult with food at all bug I don’t eat meat (yes fish and dairy by occasion) Would that be ok?
They have a meeting with everyone before the night of the dinner & will accommodate any requests that you have.

Is the Chef's Table expensive?
I have the same question.

Chef's Table by Daniel Boulud on my Celebrity Cruise in August 2022 is $139 per person.
@@jenniferw917 Thanks. That is quite a lot for a couple, given it is only one meal
Chef's tables aren't for me. I don't like weird things chefs think people should eat because it's trendy and different. They will serve things like snail eggs served over raw chicken uterus paste , and look at the people eating with a smile to see if they can fake like it, because whoever likes it the most is the best foodie...
Spoken like an idiot. NO chef would serve raw chicken, due to disease risk. It must be well-done. And fish eggs (called caviar) are absolutely delicious. I thought only children were picky eaters, but I guess adults can be close-minded & immature too
