I may be totally wrong (frequently am!) but I think that may be a self portrait of the artist. It is dated 1944 which is just before he died in 1945. There is a pen drawing self portrait with a very similar piercing stare, fluffy hair and pointed chin. But then again it may be Harry Houdini's Grandmother (he was Hungarian).

I love these videos. It would be amazing to see a day-in-the-life of you in the studio! We could see just how much time you spend on different things throughout the day

How wonderful to have one's own studio and to have been apprenticed by a master of the craft. Getting to touch beautiful artworks everyday and being entrusted with their care...I am very jealous. In today's fast-paced, mass-produced world, these kinds of jobs are rare and precious.

I honestly get so excited when I see that you have put out a new video. I have yet to find a single conservator that not only shows their work step by step, but has such a calming atmosphere as your studio does. I have generalized anxiety, so watching you work is calming, and my mind can focus on it. I truly thank you for your channel, I just wish I didn't have to wait so long between paintings lol. Thank you, truly

The fact that the background of the painting was dark green and not black shocked me and made the painting much more beautiful. Imagine not cleaning the whole painting but only the face, a crime :(

@@fjanson2468 I think that is really unfairly said, you might not find it likeable but another might. It still took time and detail for the artist to create, I’m all for personal preference but it’s kinda disrespectful of you to say so.
This is no harm to you intended but just a sort of reminder, have a nice day! :)

What a powerful , haunting painting. The line drawings in the opening montages were spectacular. And an impeccable conservation. I also think the conservation has added some darkness.
Struggling with a nasty flu myself. Hope you feel better soon Julian.

I can tell you are struggling with a very bad cold and I can feel your throat as you struggle with laryngitis. I hope you're doing much better and are taking care of yourself, put on an extra layer when you go outside into the cold! 💕🙏

At a time when it tangibly feels like so much in our country, our society, our economy even our democracy feel like they are unravelling, tearing, being damaged it is important for the spirit to experience even small moments where things are being repaired, made stronger, made better, reborn. And Julian's calming voice and spirit (his dad's presence is tangibly there too through the son) is like a brief safe harbor from the storms. ❤❤

This is my go-to channel. I’ve learned so much about restoration and conservation integrity. As an artist I completely appreciate your love and respect for every single piece you’ve conserved. I may be one of the few here who love this piece. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for what you do for art and art conservation.

Quick tip for removing glue squeeze out. Use a plastic drinking straw to scoop it up. If it is an inside corner you can cut an angle on the end and use the tip created on the straw. The extra glue just goes inside the straw and saves on the mess. This is assuming plastic drinking straws are available there.

Another amazing restoration and fulfilling to watch it take place. All the Halloween words! If someone had come upon that painting and did not know the artist it could have been passed over and never come alive again. Thank you for sharing your skills.

love it as usual, Julian! I just had my first cold after not being sick since the start of the pandemic (my secret to not getting sick for 2 years is wearing a mask, being a germaphobe, and not leaving my apartment for those curious haha) and it hit me like a freaking 18 wheeler-- i feel you pain.
