paul sheppard they are great little bikes and all you ever would need for the road, enjoy. There is a great forum on line too which has plenty of useful advice and a little useless advice too!
They are easy to work on. That one ran 73bhp after injection cam swap. stiffer front springs zx6r rear shock, rear sets, home made rear subframe and that was about it. I sold it and now have a CB500 for the track which I'm building at the moment, they are a bundle of fun. I run an aprilia shiver on the road.
I just bought an sv650. my first bike ever. its got gxr forks.....but wow... you were rippin. im just learning and love the way it feels pulling out of corners. not sure if I will ever come into turns as hot as you. but its nice to know the bike is very capable.
I have an sv650 as my first bike. I’ve rode dirt bikes growing up and had a 2002 yz426f. I’m about 5’5”- 5’6” and 120 lbs. can’t fucking wait for my first track day. I’ve only been riding my bike. Can not wait to scratch that itch.
+davegilesuk Good forum that one Dave, learnt a lot from it. Glad you like Cadwell (I don't know any who don't), I'm off there in March, the first track day of the season for me. Maybe see you there one day!
Love this video. Prob about the 5th time ive watched it. Its a real inspiration as im building an sv track bike myself at the mo. Nice riding there fella. Its great how an sv in the right hands can show up much bigger bikes on a tight circuit.
Thanks for the kind words. If you ever have any questions re your build just ask. Hope it all goes well for you and you get as much enjoyment out of it as Ive had out of mine.
+King Noah Thank you, glad you liked it. I really like them, a perfect road bike and lots of fun on track, not superfast on the top end but a real hoot to ride and cheap with lots of parts available (not that they go wrong much) Hope you get one!
Thank you my friend, I now have a mighty CB500 weighing in at about 45 horsepower, amazing the fun you can have on the smaller sports bikes and no expectations!
I wouldn't worry about that, everyone has to start somewhere and you may surprise yourself. Its a trackday, not a race, if you haven't done one before go for it!
UF Racer Thanks, yes I went up a group in the afternoon and now ride in the inters where I can generally hold my own. Still learning technique, I'll get there eventually, the main thing is having fun, I'll never be a racer!
***** i ain't no racer either - not that you would think that from my username lol. Still in thwle novice grouos. Uploaded a vid last month at rockingham. Check itnout in my channel. No as slick in the bends as you...but onwards and upwards :-)
I'm pretty sure it was stock, I remember that bike had chain conversion and slimmer sprockets than a road bike. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful, it was a few years ago. The best mod was swapping the cams and getting it correctly fuelled....ignore a lot of the jetting settings you see on forums, get a pro with a Dyno to do it if you ever go that route. That bike made 73 bhp.
That bike was a 2000 with the "curvy " frame, later models had a more angular frame. They are all about the same to be honest, so as a track bike any are ok.
The bike is far more able than me! Thanks for the kind comments Peter. I'm currently building a CB500 Pizza Delivery bike for the track, we will see how that goes
It's definitely sped up. The group he is in... is a novice maybe intermediate group. You can tell by the lines of everyone. If I sped up my onboard footage like that... I'd only be a second off the superbike lap record 😆
nice ride mate just got my self a track ready sv few questions what end can are you using? baffle in or out? and did you feel the need for a steering dampener? just trying to get a prior idea thats all thanks
Thanks, when I read a stubby can it needed a baffle, the can was well packed. It was still too loud for "quieter" tracks. I now have a full length oval can (a cheap delkekic) and it passes at 97db without baffle, it's amazing how much difference the extra 6" or so in length makes. I don't run a steering damper on my curvy, it's rock steady. Most of the lads who race don't use them either so I would say don't bother. Good luck and enjoy, they really can surprise, these little SV's.
Ákos Szemes zx6r rear shock, heavier front springs and oil, gold emulators. Injection cams, shorai battery next to front cylinder, home made alloy subframe, fireplace race seat, race rearsets. I think that's about it. Great bike.
@@aadenbeauchamp4302 they would have been standard 70s. I built the bike to minitwin spec. Minitwin series is a "budget" racing series run by thundersport in the UK. To keep a level playing field mods are restricted.
@@ryanm.191 It used the OEM SV650 bars. Some SV had regular bars some like clipons. The bike had a simple numberboard over the forks where the front light was. I made it from a road bike. I'll try and find a picture and post a link up.
@@lawmand oh yeah I see it, looks pretty cool. Im wanting to get myself an sv650 soon and I also love cafe racers, have a cafe racer styled 125 at the moment
King Brill. You knew he would bottle it when it got busy ;-)
You are a great rider!Your anticipation and reading of the road and riders,superb.Kudos.
Thanks Paul for your kind comments, yeah, I knew I would get him in the end!
I've bought a 1999 Curvy in great condition,16k miles as a 720 month Birthday present for myself :)

I'm already on the forum and contributing.I have run my own Motorcycle forums before and still have an old CX500 forum running :)

+Akira Cornell Very capable, the corners are it's strength, mine has stock forks resprung with emulators and a ZX636 rear shock.
+Akira Cornell
Haha same it's my first bike ! i never thought it would be that fast in good hands ^^
+Dédé LABINOUZE There are far faster people on these bikes than me! Enjoy
Yeah you will bud, just becareful pulling out of corners, she bites.
@@lawmand but you ride it well mate
The bike sounds awesome! Great piece of riding
nice riding! you are good
I have to agree - he picks great lines and knows how to throw the weight of the bike efficiently into a corner.
Good lines. FAST SV650S!
Regardless of the lack of power, it still sounds amazing!
Stormtrooper is slow AF, holding you up. Nice riding dude
Going well matey, good choice on moving up you were owning that group.
I went in the inters in the afternoon Dan and it felt just right so I'll go for that from now on, until I knock another 10 seconds off!

Enjoy Anthony, they are great fun and your off road experience will help you on the track. Have fun!
i was going to sale my k6 sv650, but my dear sir. you have made me want to keep it as a track weapon.
Excellent news! Enjoy
Good ride that, especially from entering the track with cold tires. Good effort
I saw a link to this on the SV forum. I loved Cadwell Park and was nowhere near that fast on my SV! Great video, thanks for uploading.

Sonofabuck that was cool! ____ Man, you can ride a bike!
The little engine that could !!!
"The little engine that could", I love that :)
Great vid hoping to ride at Cadwell this year
Awesome video and nice riding!
fantastic I miss my sv650
Me too :(
Looking at getting svf 650 for a trip then track it for a laugh smooth riding that
Go for it, you will not be disappointed, the SVF's are a little faster out of the box too.
Like the video great riding to bud!
Ant Cutler Thanks Ant, appreciated!
Great vid! It's a real struggle on the straights with 72bhp. You seem to catch up at the corners though ripping open the throttle.
Thanks glad you like it. The SV loves the corners and that is where the fun is!
Feckin nice one Dave. You owned the stormtroopers.
Come along Matt and do a track day, it's a good buzz,
You're a better rider hands down. He just has way more power on tap, and that's his only advantage.
Steven S. If I had that much power I'd probably crash anyway!
Glory to the sv 650 ! ... nice drive man !
Thank you my friend, I now have a mighty CB500 weighing in at about 45 horsepower, amazing the fun you can have on the smaller sports bikes and no expectations!
Balls were hauled here, especially in the corners where it really counts 😁
Great ride 👍🏻👍🏻 would love to get on track but I would be nervous of holding people up 😂

+lawmand thanks will give it a try in the warmer months 😁
A fun as this looks, why have you sped up the video?
that bike looks the beez neez.
Nice vid man. I'm def gonna do this track this year. Think you could have prob gone up a group tho. Lapping guys that early on!

Hi lawmand just done a couple of track days at Cadwell on curvy sv ,was wondering what gearing you running

Nice! ✊🏻
What did you modify on the bike?
Ákos Szemes zx6r rear shock, heavier front springs and oil, gold emulators. Injection cams, shorai battery next to front cylinder, home made alloy subframe, fireplace race seat, race rearsets. I think that's about it. Great bike.
lawmand brakes?
Ákos Szemes standard with good quality pads, think they were Bendix but other sintered types ok.
lawmand Thanks for the answer! ✌🏻
Ákos Szemes my pleasure
Just read the other comments that you moved up later on the day... Good move :-)
What front you run
I think they were both Bridgestone S20 road tyres at that time from memory Aaden.
@@lawmand do you recall the size ? Just curious. I've been looking at track riders and getting the different people who run the 120/60 or the 70.
Thx

Looks fractionally sped up
walk in the park.
Are you riding in a cafe racer?
The bike was just a simple SV650. It had no fairing. I made the rear subframe and it had a race seat off a Honda fireblade.
