Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown launches June 1 as a PS4 console exclusive, and will be available for PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now members right away.

I played the XBOX 360 version about 10 yrs. ONLINE and even bought a SEGA Lindbergh just for VF5R! I ♥ this game!!!

@@robertkemp5362 Arcade hardware, similar to Sega’s previous platforms like the Model 3 and Naomi. It runs on Linux, I believe, and powers games like OutRun 2 SDX.
This is by far the coolest thing Sega has ever done, we've heard Akira and Pai in other media but this personally is the best for me hearing the Bryant's actors. I am so glad Sega is finally branching out with their old IPs than just Sonic and Yakuza over and over.

I could listen to Sarah all day, I still remember the day I got the import VF5 for PS3 launch day. Felt like a really premium experience at the time.
So since Jacky and Sarah has been narrating "suprisingly talking more" as of now. We need a story mode when VF6 comes around in the future.

The game really does need a story. I'm tired of having to read the manuals, playing third party games or looking it up online to see their story.

I love that Sega are showing reverance to Virtua Fighter, it's my favorite fighting game series and a part of my childhood.
Now we need VF6 for 2023 on the PS5, Xbox Series X & PC to celebrate its 30th Anniversary.

VF5 was the first game I bought the same day I bought my Xbox360 as a teenager in middle school, around 2007-2008.
Then I bought VF5 Final Shodown when it released in XBLA when I was in highschool.
Now we need VF5 Ultimate Shodown on Xbox (and PC) too! 💗

I think Sony paid out early access if not exclusivity for fighting games from them
Ultimate Showdown is a permanent exclusive, it will never be released on Xbox.

I played a lot on PlayStation 3, graphic ahead of its time that beats Tekken 6 that came out much later.
I played both VF5 and VF5 Final Showdown.
Can't wait to play this with my friends

VF5 was just too good to the point where I'd argue it hasn't been topped, not by Tekken, Soul Calibur or anything. Amazing game, amazing series!

@@travisgraham3104 You do know how old a fighting game is has nothing to do with how good it is right man?Lol. Just because Tekken 7, DOA 6, and Soul Calibur 6 are newer games it doesn't automatically mean they are better. You mentioned "new gen polish" but VF5's mechanics are definitely more polished and refined than all 3 of those games. Also graphics have nothing to do with how good a fighting game is either.

But i just dont like it when people hate on tekken and say a franchise that might've started the 3d fighting game genre but just couldn't keep up with so many other fighting games is better. I love virtua fighter but the sales numbers speak for themselves. Virtua fighter is NOT and never will be better than tekken. And if you think so, you're a definite loser.
I am someone who owns physical versions of Virtua Fighter 5 on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as well as digital versions of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown on both and I absolutely love everything about all of them.
Hopefully, though, we'll see a physical version of Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown somehow...

Virtua Fighter 5 was one of the first titles when I bought my PS3. I can't wait to play it again tomorrow evening. I hope SEGA releases VF6 on PS5.
@Ijustcametogetsomethingtoeat PS5 is a unicorn. I was lucky to find an XBOXSX and so far, the console has exceeded my expectations. Multiplats play slightly better on XBOXSX. But I hope that by the time VF6 is around, we will all have PS5s.
@@IMAN7THRYLOS really? digital foundry and a lot of websites say that multiplatforms play better on ps5 and Microsoft is scrambling to know why.
@@jamesyu5212 I have also checked df and many other RUclips comparisons. By looking for REVillage, Nier, MassEffect Legendary and Scarlet Nexus Demo, I see that XBOXSX can offer higher resolution on quality mode than PS5. Also on some games, performance mode can offer 120FPS, that is if your TVset supports it.

VF.TV was something that TONS of people in the west missed out on. VF.TV was awesome and definitely not simple as what the narrator said. Simply put, VF.TV was truly a VF TV channel with TV shows, really cool adverts, promos, event showcase. event ads and live segments of the top plays and happening from another arcade from around the country. IT WAS AWESOME. VF.TV NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED INTO VF5:US but I've been asking for this for years and SEGA will fail at delivering that every time. All they need to do is provide English subtitles and nothing more. Who cares if the events only happen in Japan, seeing it provide excitement and inspiration. That's the key thing SEGA lacks, using the simple of things for inspiration. VF.TV is a MUST.

Im glad they mentioned Virtua Fighter 5R, cuz even to this day I still want a home release of VF5R. If VF5 Ultimate Showdown does well (And i have good faith it will be doing VERY well) I hope Sega plans to release an Virtua Fighter Arcade Collection that will even include VF4Evo, VF4 Final Tuned, and VF5R. But that may be asking too much since we are getting VF5 Ultimate Showdown!
Here's a list of things I want in VF6.
Rollback Net Code.
Online Lobbies where you can have more than one battle at the same time.
A Tekken Force Mode. But only take notes from Tekken 3 and 4.
Guest Characters from Shemue and Yakuza.
And a ending clip for all the characters after beating arcade mode. Don't give us a story mode. Just give us an ending after we beat arcade mode + Dural.

This will be my buys tomorrow along with the Sonic PS4 games. So hyped for this, Sonic Colors Ultimate, Sonic Origins, Sonic Movie 2, Sonic Prime and Sonic 2022.
I hope they give Ultimate Shodown every feature the Virtua Fighter 5 entries had and some new stuff.
Thankfully Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is still available and playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility, for people who are interested. Unfortunately, Ultimate Showdown will never be released on Xbox.
I been hearing there's no quest mode, and lack of customization, so final showdown is still superior in ways.
The only downside to the PS3 version of VF5 was it had no online features. It mostly had to do with the PS3 version running an older revision, whereas the 360 ran on a newer one that allowed for online play.

I remember getting VF5 as one of my first PS3 games when the console was brand new. I knew nothing about the franchise, (I still basically know nothing) but something about this game _captivated me._ I never got good at it, could never remember all the tech or moves, straight up failed to perform more than a few of the moves you get taught for each character in practice mode, but all the same, I have this fondness for this ridiculously complex fighting game monstrosity. I just wish I could find more people talking about it like they do with Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.
I absolutely loved VF5 FS when it came out. I stuck with it for a while and I had so much fun even when I got my butt kicked. Super happy this Ultimate Showdown is happening. I hope that ending teases a VF6 coming at some point. It's been far too long.

Does anyone have a problem defending?
My character normally takes around 45 frames to defend and make it hard to defend attacks during matches.
On training, I can see my character slowly raises the arms to defend.
Better run home to momma now!

i have somekind of concept for Virtua Fighter story mode. so i set the Virtua Fighter as a tournament with format like Big Brother Reality Show. all Fighters are isolated in an island or somewhere. everyday the fighters practice, sparing each other and living their life, unaware that they are monitored by Judgement Six. then in every saturday night, the Judgement six held an event of Elimination where they take two fighters to fight each other (the loser must leave the Tournament). well that's my idea.

They aren't very good actors? Or perhaps they were given poor direction? Either way, the voices in the Virtua Fighter series has always been cringey.

I remember I tried to order Virtua Fighter 5 for my arcade cabinet but SEGA wouldn't sell the Lindbergh hardware outside of Japan. SEGA only "leased" the hardware to Japanese arcades and there was no way to acquire the game outside of Japan. Not even if you purchased a full Lindbergh Cabinet...

Well Jacky is definitely a good beginner character for sure. I'd say Brad and Lau aren't too hard to get a hang of either.

@@isaaccooper862 Don't start with Akira fresh out the gate man, lol. He's one of the hardest characters in the game to use properly. Some of the inputs for his moves are a little tough, it's not impossible to learn him of course but i wouldn't START there as a beginner. That being said tho he's probably the best character in the entire game if you master him. He is powerful and has a lot of ways to break through the opponents defense.
Jeffrey is actually pretty easy to learn, he doesn't have a lot of demanding inputs or anything. He's a good beginner character. He does a lot of damage with simple combos and strikes.
Sarah is pretty fast and has a lot of quick kicks. She's agile and is a heavily offensive character, so if you love to be aggressive she's a good pick. She's all about harassing your opponent. She's a pretty good beginner character as well.
Honestly can't say much on Pai since i've never really used her a bunch. I will say that she's fast and has some annoying moves and counters, lol. She can also crouch throw, which most character can't do.

@@djhero0071 It is a japanese video, they just put Sarah's VA to do the voice over for us. All of their videos are like this too Its sad dood, being a fan of SEGA getting rekt on a daily basis. After work tomorrow, I'm all over it. They're gonna slow drip that DLC too. The cosmetics aren't all ready yet.

Not really, when you look at the big picture. VF5FS is still one of the best balanced FG’s still to this day and animation wise since a lot of it was motion captured, looks great even today over a decade later. Final showdown was also released around the height of the first FG resurgence in 09’ thanks to SFIV and Tekken 6. So them releasing it now when FG’s are back to being popular seems to be that Sega was always monitoring trends. I’m sorry if I come off offensive.
