dude i played a game a couple of hours ago and we had this level 32 33 hecarim jgl, me and my adc were talking about hitting grandmaster and he just said "and here i am in the same lobby as u guys when I'm a gold 1 platter" and we 2v8d that game so i guess he's just realy lucky :D
for reference I was d3 99lp during that game and my duo was d2 60 lp
Calling a 28-1 player in smurf queue a gold player is like calling the first sprouts of a new tree just a leaf.
Something changed recently. For example I'm being put into silver matches on my iron account, and gold matches on my bronze. I know, someone's gonna say they have always done that, but in the last 3 years I never see 9 players 2 full ranks above my account like lately I am seeing lately

yeah i've been having that happen a bunch lately, in my iron games i'll randomly get silvers is it because iron has too few players and the matchmaking has to loosen the brackets so much that they have to do that to keep matchmaking times in acceptable bounds (3-5 minutes in theory) over the course of the day
@@kuugagaming6446 BUT, I'd rather wait 10 mins rather than having extremely unfair games. It's like, the opponent gets sliver and high bronzes, and my team, we get a Iron 4 out of nowhere, several times, it's not a iron that's trying to win, it's an iron 4 that is at below 40% win rate with over 300 games played in the last 3 months. Average cs of the team is around 150 at 25mins while the iron 4 is at 60 to 80. It completely ruins the experience. You can't even dodge these games too.
Riot reworked the "smurf queue" system this year. So instead of the smurf being in smurf queue silver they just get put into plat/dia games. Its actually really nice.
@@w3asel98 how the fucking tables have turned. Instead of letting 1 high elo person ruin the experience of 9 low elo people. They send 1 low elo person to ruin the experience of 9 higher elo people.
Heh, I used to blame my 200+ms ping. But now that I moved to SEA and have 24ms ping I can safely say it was a skill issue all along

What i dont get about riots system and what i hate with a passion is this massive delay between MMR and actual Rank catching up to it. This goes both ways. If he has a challenger MMR, then give that guy fking challenger already. If someone loses game after game, get that guy demoted already. Don't let him sit at his rank forever. The whole ranked system should be way more fluid. Nothing is more infuriating than knowing you have great MMR, but you don't get promoted for random reasons like losing those 2 games that are arbitrary more important than the other ranked games you play. Same goes for sitting on shit MMR and knowing that no matter what you do, your next 3-4 wins won't do shit to make you climb anyway, so why bother playing them? Just get rid of the stupid LP system, display actual MMR and maybe award some shiny borders to some arbitrary numbers, idc. But LP system has to go away.
I mean, at least its placing him in high elo instead of silver games.

@@ChaosImmortal It's true though, I climbed several fresh accounts to diamond easily, but if I even tried playing in an old account is basically almost impossible to climb out of gold, no matter how much you try. You can eventually stabilize the MMR but it isn't worth it. My advice for anyone that isn't memeing the "actually guys I'm silver but I deserve Challenger" just start on a fresh account and everything will be 100 times easier.

@@LongClawzHidden Exactly this. Riot changed the algorythm and puting you into games where your other stats match each other. But it happens to be the case that it is what you said. An iron player pops off and the get placed into silver games and ruins that for everyone.

it's normal game so why does it matter. In the contrary playing vs better player will make you a better player, then go watch your vod to understand why they did better than you in the game and try to imporve based on that conclusion.

My account is over 10 years old. I'm in bronze. I constantly get matched up against plat and diamond. Makes this game absolutely infuriating.
From the plat-dia side, yes, getting a lot of bronze here. I usually don't say a word until 15. I mean, you probably didn't ask to be here, and you're probably doing your bronze best, I get it.
But why do you bronzies just always seem to do that bronziest thing ever - pulling surrender votes that start 3/0 from all the dia and high plat players into 3/2 failed ff? That happens all the fking time, and its flipping me. Ok, you got poorly matched, I get it, I feel somewhat same when I get screwed into a GM/Challenger game. All I fking ask is that despite you feeling that you're going pretty good, when higher ranked players in your team disagree with your evaluation 3 to 1, don't you fking dare join the 1. Please?
In normal games though, right? Normal and Ranked have different MMR

As soon as I get to ranked I start by facing low gold and quickly get matched with plat players even though that is my peak on other accounts

@@dislexyc I only play ranked. I don't play enough games to really climb the ranks. Hence why I'm in bronze. Overall I have a 65% win rate playing top lane. Top lane Udyr I'm currently putting up 90% win rate.

So a bit of quick reference, usually a gold player like this would be put into some kind of smurf queue, paired with other gold and plat elo smurfs, but after decoupling matchmaking from rank level, it's now based exclusively on MMR. This allows players like this gold player into a challenger level lobby.
Tl;Dr right changed shit so giga smurf gold player can pair with Dantes.
I think I've gotten the worst out of this when my ass stays in silver because I don't care about climbing or anything and just vibe most of the time, yet I got tossed against all diamonds and a master jungle while my teams all high Plat low diamond. Got a Graves who just stuck his finger in my amumu bandaged butt every time I walked into jungle or near a brush
I also experienced this but there were normal bronze players put in plat game for no reason and they got destroyed
my literal placement games back in 2020 when I tried Ranked for the first time was exactly this.

Imma be honest, if you truly think that Riot's matchmaking system is even remotely balanced, than I want your supply of copium, because it most be some strong stuff. I feel like the whole community recognizes that it's absolute trash nearly all of the time. Getting a fair, balanced match that is an exciting, down-to-the-wire game is, most of the time, like finding a unicorn
It makes more sense when you realize they're not trying to make "fair" or "fun" games. If your win rate is around 50% at the end of the season, to them they did a perfect job. It doesn't matter if you got stomped 50% and then steamrolled the other 50% never having a fun game.

It is because of MMR. Riot made these LP changes because people don't understand MMR and cry about unfair matchmaking. After LP changes it is more common for your rank to match with your MMR. Anyways, if you have really high winrate your rank will still be lower than your MMR.

Ah yes, I am currently in my promos still and went into flex queue with some drones for the first time. According to League I would‘ve been Iron 2 at the time.
I went Thresh Top and got put up against a Master player Sett. The Sett managed to somehow lose lane 0/3 and I have no idea what it was but either I was so bad that he did not know what to do or Sett is such a brainless champ that you can get into Master with it if you have 3 total braincells.

The matchmaking system in ranked is an absolute nightmare fr. It's either stomp or get stomped. Throw some smurfs/boosters and literal trash players into the mix. I just got demoted to b4 after getting stomped by an "iron 2" adc with an avg of 10 cs/min. The game before that was actually pretty balanced but the jungler had main character syndrome and griefed. I don't even know why i play ranked anymore

Me and my friends are silver-plat. We get masters and challenger players on the enemy ream every 3-4 games.... We sometimes beat them, but it's never fun, it always feels like I'm fighting for my life against that 1v9 dude.

I started playing league in 2016, 7 years ago. I was a terrible wukong jungle 1 trick. I was gold4. Fast forward thousands of games, after watching thousands of hours of games/strategy, and now I'm drastically better than I once was. I do not lose top lane, I either win, win hard, or stalemate, in that order. I'm Bronze 3. That's the bottom 20% of the playerbase. I've been a sweaty gamer since N64 days and I've never been in the bottom 20% of anything. I love competition, it's probably the #1 reason I play but I don't take the "official" rankings seriously, at least not for myself.

@@ragegaze3482 I don't play hypercarry champs; I often wonder if I put a ton of practice into a scaling beast like jax, or fiora if it would make a difference but I don't think it would ultimately be better than my current strat of dominating split push. I try to make the win condition that there's so much pressure in my lane, say inhib before 20m, that even if I have terrible teammates they'll still be able to catch up a bit as the enemy is forced to cover me. Typically my team goes semi-afk and backs despite having free farm to progress on, or I just don't win ultra-hard, maybe I only get first tower, push onto second while invading enemy jg, but the enemy team gap is huge so I end up in a stalemate overall. I have no cause to lie, and frankly I've come to terms with the leage MM system. I don't think it's legit for my personal skill level.
They should just add Wild Rift's ranked system. It's way more fair and if you don't belong in a rank, it's faster demotion, but if you're smurfing you quickly get to a higher rank.
I lost my motivation to play ranked because of the matchmaking.
Yout get sorted in bonze, but paired against high silver and gold, and if you lose because of the MMR you lose tons of points, but if you win you somehow don't get many.
This is some time ago, not sure if anything changed, but that was just infuriating.
If the game thinks you belong in Silver/gold, and matches you against those, why does it sort you into bronze, and make it actually hard to get where it thinks you are supposed to be at the same time.

Yea that is pretty backwards, I don't have much experience in league ranked but in Rocket league which I do have a lot of experience it does what you are referring too. If you have a really high winrate your gains are insane, so making smurf accounts you can get to the highest ranks in a single day, but rocket league doesn't have hidden mmr in ranked, so when smurfing you don't get put in higher lobbies, you just destroy the lower ranked lobbies you are ranked at.

im unranked for since i started the game (4 years ago) and i decided to do my first Game Ranked after i won around 23 or 24 games with morde and chogath support( i abuse that part). i was in a plat lobby as a fkn iron, everybody was like "bro, you a smurf?" im like "i promise you, im just a bro"
i proceed to die 15 times but in the end, mordekaiser supp was able to help my team get 4 drakes, 1 herald, killed midlaner and jungler around 8 times in total, and my adc carried the game.
ever since i didnt play ranked again. it was so Stressful i had to use every active braincell to their fullest and ended up being hungry.

yeah, i notice strange things like this too. If a have some winstreak even like 5 games, suddenly i got the worst teammate and when i check their profile, at least 3 of them are in a 5 to 8 lose streak. lol and it's happening many times, i feel like the system is trying to balance/or fucked the winning streak.

@@inanilmazhavaliyim i was plat III 2 seasons ago, last season i played only 50 games and was like s1, i maybe troll a bit playing only off meta pick for fun, this season i got bronze 2 at the end of the placement (last month) until gold 4 (i m jungler) with more than 70 wr on ekko with their shitty +15/-15 points. PAtch 13.4 drop, and i just don't win anymore lol, i get a tone of shitty afk and low teammate wr (it's liek all the shittiest player came back to play on 13.4 cause the system of 15/-15 point made them go play haram) and just playing in silver and low gold is really not fun, just ppl die constantly, always haram mid for no reason. So i just started on a fresh account 3 days ago and 25 games on the account i'm already gold 3 with plat mmr. It's obvious the system make ppl get stuck if they don't play 500 games to just reach a new rank (especially when it was -15/+15).

My team was all bronze and silver. The enemy team had 3 bronze, 1 iron and a platinum 2 jungler. We literally got 1v5 by their jungler. Thanks riot, you guys suck

Take it from a lover of old games whose player based dried up... This wreaks of just that, a drying up player base. When you simply don't have enough players to match up then someone is gonna have to be "close enough" and shoehorned in. Not a good look.

@@jameshunt7129 yes, but a smurf isn't necessarily what I was referring to. I've heard this complained about a lot recently and thinking more big picture. It also doesn't mean league is dead, simply could mean less folks are playing ranked is all. Under normal circumstances there's no way 2 players that far in rank should be matched up together.

I get you want his actual rank to magically go from gold to challenger but even if it did that changes nothing, if he already is getting in challenger games. The rank would just be symbolic at that point, when his mmr is all that matters. And this isn't as common as you think, I was actually there in dantes stream when that game happened, and he said it was his first time ever seeing a gold player in challenger, he has seen plat many times but never a gold.
