    Also I've heard that vitamin A is essential for healthy mucus membranes, like in the GI tract. But for those of us with SIBO, be careful not to consume too much vitamin K because we usually have too much already since vitamin K is synthesized by bacteria in the gut and we have too much bacteria. So try to find foods that are high in vitamin A but not super high in vitamin K.

    I agree with your sentiments on the low fodmap diet.. also there’s not enough discussion about the aspects of this diet that aren’t covered and really should be eliminated completely like grains especially wheat and soy, all dairy and all the processed and refined carbs that are supposedly low fodmap.. it just allows people to do a diet of health half assed and wonder why their symptoms don’t improve.

    Nope. Sonnenburg studies showed clearly that diversity DOES NOT increase with extra fiber/foods. It only increases with fermented foods. Also adding fiber on a low microbiome diversity INCREASES inflammation but if you have a healthy gut then it decreases inflammation.
    Also it seems like a lot of carnivores are getting their diversity back and health, so there's something to be said about choline/carnitine/bhb/a ton of zinc/ and i suspect omega 3s that will heal a gut and bring back diversity, so no fiber but still superb health. Also vit A is extremely important and telling people to get vit D without A is reckles

    • @gentleoldmoviefan5680
      @gentleoldmoviefan5680 Год назад

      Also Vitamin K2. Taking Vitamin D without K2 can lead to very serious problems with calcium going to the wrong places, as you probably already knew. On the subject of microbiome diversity, what do you think of probiotic supplements? Any favorite brand, or brands that you recommend? -- P.S., I recently found a good one online, it seems. Although I have not bought it or tried it out yet. (It's rather pricey.) Does eating quality fermented foods, such as Kimchi, result in as much diversity as taking a good multi-strain probiotic supplement? I've often wondered how the 2 approaches compare to each other -- in terms of improving a person's microbiome health. Thanks, for any insights you might have on these questions.

    Great video and helped me understand a bunch of things, thanks! However, I am surprised you've mentioned a vegan diet as part of your list of 'restrictive diets'. I believe it is widely known by nutritional scientists that as long as a person gets enough calories in a day, they've gotten enough protein. I think someone who only eats carrots or broccoli by itself would be restrictive, and that shouldn't be called a vegan diet, it is perhaps more like disordered eating. Whereas a regular whole food plant based (vegan) diet is not a restrictive diet. Would you perhaps agree?
