An in depth how to on replacing a 2002 Ford F350 Super Duty column shifter. If you are tired of band aid fixes I highly recommend completely replacing all your components of your shift assembly. This dashboard is in the 1999-2004 Ford F250 F350 F450 F550 F650 Super Duty and Excursion.

Outstanding video. I'm currently replacing my heater core etc. on my 98 F- 150, what a pain. Yours and mine are very similar trucks. If I might add; both pin directions are critical, and use new pins. Use threadlocker removable on all screws. Use ONLY white lithium grease on both collars. No petroleum grease because it WILL eat up the plastic bushings !!! Great video.

Yea I hate that. Also when they don’t use a tripod and wave their camera all over the place and you can’t see anything anyway.
Very helpful video. Way better than some of the others on the fix. One thing I would add is that once I reassembled everything, it wouldn't shift out of park because the #34 fuse blew as a result of the shifter being jacked up.

Kinda crazy how these go bad, but the one on my 86 F-150 is still working great.
They probably made them out of better metal back then. This cast aluminum looks weak. Also this truck has 345,000 miles and was used as a plow truck for I don’t know how long.
Very well made video. Thank you for taking the time to make it and share it. Any tips on how to make adjustments to the gear indicator? Mine is not properly aligned with the hear letters on the indicator.
I’m not sure if they sell a replace string thing but the mount under the steering column could be damaged. They sell replacement aluminum brackets to hold that gear indicator string onto the column. It is probably stretched out.
Under the column at the end of the gear indicator line is an adjustment wheel. Very easy adjustment to do. Now that you are familiar, replace the plastic connector with an aluminum piece for $9.99 :)

Do you have another link for those torx bolts? I just had one of them shear completely off. One of the ones that connects on the back of the shift tube on my 2000 F350 with the 5.4L engine. The rest of the parts look in good condition, but I can't find those bolts anywhere. Also, thanks for the video. Well done showing the process.

Yes the solenoid locks you into park. So to be able to shift out of park there is like a sweet spot like 80% out of pulling the column shifter towards you. If you pull the column shifter 100% the way back it will not go into reverse. It was deleted off my truck be a previous owner. I assume to make it easier when he was plowing because it had a plow mount when I got it. I like it as I can leave my diesel idle and not worry about it slipping out of park. The jagged metal plate is just what the lever I installed at @12:20 rides on.

I got it from the ford dealership but all the parts are listed in the description.
