In Italy we actually put between each layer of ragù - a layer of béchamel and grated parmigiano. This in the video is the southern Italian version, but lasagna is from Bologna, in northern Italy
My grandma, Veneto region, used to put some ragù on the bottom, then start layers starting with pasta, ragù, pasta, bechamel, pasta, ragù and so on. Might have been a variation but it was delish. Obviously the bechamel was a bit more generous compared to tho vid

This looks like a tasty Italian-American lasagna. I’ve been to Italy and had a traditional lasagna made by a retired chef, who happened to have cooked for 3 different Popes. She made the lasagna with bolognese, bechamel, and freshly grated parmesan. And she made the pasta fresh and didn’t use too much parmesan because traditional lasagna doesn’t have a lot of cheese. It was the most delicious lasagna I have ever had and I have made it only this way ever since.
There was recently a Danish food show where they had an older Italian lady show them how to make lasagna. According to her it is actually suppose to be 11 layers of pasta and a thin bit of meat sauce and bacamel between each. So even a 5 layer is still very much modernized.
I learned from my Italian grandmother. Mine has all the layers, I use mini meatballs instead of meat sauce. I also have way more ricotta, and mozzarella. The last time I made it, I made two trays the size in this video. Each one was a little over 10 pounds.
u all are just americans bitching about true italian lasagna. u need to understand that u are the only place in the world that eat big super jumbo portions of food xd
Looks fire. Although I do prefer my lasagna to have more bechamel, less ricotta/mozz. I find that bechamel interacts with the fresh pasta in a way that amplifies the “melt in your mouth texture”. I usually make my lasagna with only bechamel & parm. But to each their own, I’d still devour this nonetheless!
Bruv was that bechamel? I thought it was garlic infused oil or something because he was a little too generous with it for me. Tastes are different though but if I had not seen it and ate this lasagna it would still beat my own with too much bechamel 😂😂
I'm still waiting for him to add the bechamel 😂
I came here to say this, don't need to now, thanks!
