Herp Derp nah Mercedes does have better interiors but the up coming new interiors that have been showcased in the new Panamera are going to be implemented in all vehicles which then I would agree with u
No way i've been in a c63 2013 it was plastic everywhere.. the S class was fully leather though. mercede's new lineup 2016+ have much better interior compared to older models.. if you optioned the full leather
The macan s drives magically. It feels like a raised sports car, very easy to handle and full of fun. It feels more fun than driving lots of sports cars.
The Macan shares less than 30% of it's parts with the Q5. Even the mounting points on the frame have been modified by Porsche for better chassis balance and a lower center of gravity.
I just bought a 17 GTS from a Porsche Dealer last week. They said it's only 14 non-essential parts it shares with the Q5. The rest is of the "shared" is modified and redesigned. So many of these idiot youtubers keep saying it's on the same "platform" when it's barely the case when you break it down.
Andrew beavers Still loving my Macan. One year is about to come up and it’s run beautifully. Zero issues outside of a wheel bearing that had to be replaced, in warranty though so no issue. Outside of that had my dealership put in a tune and lowered air suspension, car absolutely rips.
h0lyhandgrenade which tune did you go with that the Porsche dealer would install. I’m guessing it wasn’t a CPO’d car either or it would void the warranty.
The Macan S and the lower Macans are almost 80 Percent Audi built by them. If you want a Real Porsche you need to buy the higher priced Macan GTS Twin turbo or the Turbo models those models have about 95 percent on to on Porsche built Porsche engineered just letting you know.
Thanks for the porsche video can't ever be upset with something different but amongst the same brand the folks are going to wake up so mad I love macans
GET A PEDAL COMMANDER OMG!!! I have the exact same macan w exact same tune and the pedal commander makes it even more responsive and faster. Not more power just faster pedal response which makes it feel faster. 32 individual adjustments for the commander then couple that w the sport button gives you the ability to exactly adjust the pedal response in our out of sport mode. PERFECTION. I just put a KW stage 3 coilover set on it and dropped it 3" and now it DOES feel like and handle like a car.
What a great car for a daily. I currently have gen1 Cayenne and it's been great. Once these come down in price in the used market I will definitely pick one up and add a Cobb tune.
I've driven a Porsche Panamera diesel, I never expected it to handle so good and to have such a direct steering with a lot of feedback. Porsche isn't fucking around that's for sure!
If I ever win the lottery and choose to continue living in Atlantic Canada, this would be my winter "beater". It really has the perfect blend of winter weather capability, dry weather performance, daily driver comfort and luxury features.
I am seriously looking into purchasing one soon, especially as a daily driver when driving stick in rush hour isn't my favorite option. Very happy you did a video on this!
Thanks for the review Matt! I think the timing of this video is a sure sign for me as I just happen to be placing an order for a S next week :) Love that slim profile Thule box!
Those are AT the wheels... and there's a lot of parasitic loss in the drivetrain for awd vehicles. So 316 AWHP makes sense. Although yeah, it sounds a bit disappointing.
Hey Matt....I think what your trying to say is, the PDK gives the Macan a more sport feel, excitement, and a more intuned interaction, which will make the owner drive it more often.
There is almost no cargo room in the back of that thing with the seats up. The rake on the rear hatch really cuts into the space. But that was the only gripe I had. Great little SUV. Drives like a sports car, until you need it not to.
Well, we took a trip to Mammoth, and with three adults and all our ski gear, (skis and boots in the box, of course), we didn't have to fold the seats down. All our suitcases and backpacks fit in the trunk with the seats up.
no way dude, not a chance. My pelican case takes up more than 50% of the cargo space in the Focus, and it's only about 1/3 of the Macan. I haven't done an actual measurement, but based on looking at the two cars, the Macan is visibly bigger.
They list the Macan as 17.7 cu. ft. and the RS at 24.8. But Edmunds long term test did say the Macan seemed to have more space that advertised on paper. Perhaps I was harsh. The space just didn't work for me, vs a comparable sedan trunk. I needed more depth, less height/width.
wow i have a hard time believing the difference is so big; in the real world it doesn't seem like nearly as much. I wonder if it has to do with the taller greenhouse on the focus, and if you're really stacking the shit to the cieling versus "flat-ish loading space." It's possible that an extra 3 or 4" in the focus trunk height could make up a difference like that. Thanks for finding those numbers, but I think they are misleading in comparison to real world cargo capacity. interesting contradiction there.
@TheSmokingTire It's a ways off, but my friends and I will be in town for car week in Carmel. We run the Concorso Italiano event at Bayonet and Black Horse. If you want to drive a Gallardo Superleggera, MP4-12C, slightly modded C7 Z06, Maserati Ghibli, or just want access to the event let me know. No strings, just happy to have a car guy join us. Looking forward to the upcoming One Take with Mohammad's car!
The Macan 3.0 Twin Turbo GTS is the one I just bought and its a freaking real Porsche and its fast!!!! even without the tune the thing runs 13.0 flat man.
Love your videos Matt. If you guys go to the snow again it would be great to see some footage in the snow or a short review of the Macan in the snow. Thanks T
I wanted to, but honestly, there was so much snow, and the video would have been at like 3 mph through town in Mammoth. There wasn't anywhere really available with fast driving AND snow in the same place unless I drove to like Colorado or something.
a few weeks ago I drove a macan gts to mammoth from LA. I don't know how you got 21mpg. I could only manage 15mpg without a box. yes, sustained high speed driving was a factor but I honestly didn't expect it to have worse MPG than my V8 E92 M3 on the highway.
gothops154 I'm not Matt, but you need to see the f pace in real life. It's quite a lot bigger in comparison to the Macan. As far as the looks go, the R sport in the best looking, the other trims just don't do justice and make the car look oddly round for, some angles. Personally I don't feel it's an apples to apples comparison. Macan has a sportier drive, and honestly feels better inside too. The jag is larger and even then I'd go with a a Porsche. Heck even a used one. Qualitatively and reliability POV, especially after sales just isn't up there like Porsche.
gothops154 Generally reviews say this: the F-Pace is between the Macan and Cayenne in size. The F-Pace feels like a RWD sports vehicle where the Porsches feel AWD. Nothing will beat the driving dynamics and transmission and refined nature of the Macan but the F-Pace feels more like a RWD sports car and is cheaper at the expense of interior quality.
Oh I didn't realize that they started selling the 4 cylinder in the US. I just looked at their website and there it is. 2.0 turbo with 252 hp for $47,500.
Would sidewall flex be the feeling of your car bouncing around back in fourth during high speed cornering? I've been noticing a lot of back and forth swaying feeling on my new bmw 535i when im pushing a highway ramp corner at higher speeds.
How do you think this compares to the F-Pace S you drove? The F-Pace also has a spot on driving position and good communication from the chassis and steering as well. Probably a bit cheaper too?
The F-Pace is great. You get a bit more for your money with the F-Pace, meaning the top-trim F-Pace is the same price as the Macan S, give or take. So you get things like adaptive cruise, and some extra leather and gadgetry for your money with the F-Pace. Dynamically they are similar. F-Pace is quicker out of the box, Macan has the better gearbox and better steering (although F-Pace is very good). FPace has better brakes, and feels a bit lighter on its feet, although they are about the same weight. It's a draw for materials to me, and F-Pace has the better stereo (although I haven't heard a Macan with burmeister, only bose). Honestly I think you'd be very happy with either. The Macan very much feels "like a Porsche." if that's what your looking for.
nice Cat, and I liked the Macan as a size for SUV, but I would be so happy if I could get the Turbo S Macan, even though this is turbo and has perfect power with the tune, but why not throw a bit more money, when you are doing it anyway, and get the Turbo with more CC and still a turbo, maybe bigger...
Porsche has hands down the best interior out of all German manufacturers.. their whole lineup is just filled with leather with no shortcuts
house m8. mate.
To be fair, there's still a bit of plastic in my 911 (I didn't option full leather). But even the plastic bits are really nice.
Herp Derp c63 is a cheap mercedes though. most of them are fully leather.
The macan s drives magically. It feels like a raised sports car, very easy to handle and full of fun. It feels more fun than driving lots of sports cars.
Great platform and a tune really does make the S trim feel all things Porsche.
The Macan shares less than 30% of it's parts with the Q5. Even the mounting points on the frame have been modified by Porsche for better chassis balance and a lower center of gravity.

@@sbfhawk4343 - not true with the 2015-2018 Macan S, which runs the same 3.0 twin turbo the GTS runs.
One of the best all rounders i'd say! (or a turbo)
Thanks for the porsche video can't ever be upset with something different but amongst the same brand the folks are going to wake up so mad I love macans
Tyler Wallace I think they are really nice looking
Colby Perry they are
I've never really paid much attention to the Macan - never realized it was such a torque monster
IMO the Macan is the best SUV because it truely has the S in SUV and it just looks so damn good!
Hell yeah dude for sure they're such a pleasant looking SUV
GET A PEDAL COMMANDER OMG!!! I have the exact same macan w exact same tune and the pedal commander makes it even more responsive and faster. Probably one of the most laidback reviews I've seen - nice one Matt, as usual
in europe we have the turbo performance package and that thing fucking flies!
RazorFX we have that in North America as well.
What a great car for a daily. I currently have gen1 Cayenne and it's been great. Once these come down in price in the used market I will definitely pick one up and add a Cobb tune.

The regular Macan actually comes with a 4 cylinder turbo and the S with the twin turbo V6, nevertheless great video Matt!
This is going to be my family SUV here soon enough. Of course the Turbo version..
this car makes matt look thinner
OscarMaris this video was also shot 2.5 months after the video you saw yesterday. I've probably lost 25 pounds in between the two shoots.
atta boy Matt
TheSmokingTire congrats man, keep up the good work in everything you do.
for the pushin
I know one's Wallet will be skinny as heck if one buys a Macan :D
Can't help but notice the GMT you're wearing. Awesome piece!
Matt, the base/standard Macan has a 2.0L 4-cylinder single turbo, the S has the 3.0L 6-cylinder Twin turbo, as does the GTS.
I am seriously looking into purchasing one soon, especially as a daily driver when driving stick in rush hour isn't my favorite option. Very happy you did a video on this!
Hey congrats on the weight loss Matt. Haven't seen a current video of yours in a bit and you look a lot healthier.
I’ve been looking at one of these instead of my 135i as a daily. This was a great review to hear.
Beautiful car. The exterior color is also beautiful, and that red interior is stunning.
2:49 I love seeing the caution 30 mph signs and youre doing like 70
I love this thing, Id love to daily one. The Porsche one takes are my favorite.
Matt you look great in this video for sure! Congrats on the weight loss:)
Porsche, snow, snow tires, and skiing is pretty dope, on its own!
Thanks for the review Matt! I think the timing of this video is a sure sign for me as I just happen to be placing an order for a S next week :) Love that slim profile Thule box!
If you get a chance, drive a Macan Turbo. It's insanely fast for what it is. The launch control is crazy lol. 400+hp, 4 wheel drive. It's awesome dude
Porsche really needs to make a hatchback, you are 100% right they'd definitely own the hatchback segment!
Did he mean 416 or 316 hp? I thought Cobb on the S was pushing 400+ on 91 oct... either way dope torque curve.
Those are AT the wheels... and there's a lot of parasitic loss in the drivetrain for awd vehicles. So 316 AWHP makes sense. Although yeah, it sounds a bit disappointing.
The HP was 316 at the wheels
Right that confused me
This thing was SO nice inside and it sounds freaking awesome! Tell" the Nicks" I say hi 👍🏼
Correction....the base model Macan comes with a 2L 4 cylinder. Macan S and GTS have the 3L. Fellow california Macan S owner.
That is a nice watch you got there, nothing like a pepsi.
Needs Vtec, how many times do I have to say this?
Scorpio S my nigga
Scorpio S asking the important questions
omg this thing would be out with vtec bro it be hella quick
Variocam.... just saying
Get a Honda, not this unreliable French bullshit car. What is this 1978 without Vtec?
So glad you guys did this!
Hey Matt....I think what your trying to say is, the PDK gives the Macan a more sport feel, excitement, and a more intuned interaction, which will make the owner drive it more often.
I really like the Macan! Thanks for the detailed review Matt!
@thesmokingtire You forgot that the base Macan has a 4-banger, Macan S has the 6.
yeah the 4 just came out this year so we really haven't seen much of it. We got all the sixes first.
Didn't know that, I've driven the S myself and love the engine, upgrade to the "S" seems very worth it IMO
Small correction here, base Macan has the VW corporate EA888 2.0 liter turbo 4 with Porsche-specific tuning. Macan S has the 3.0 liter.
yeah, the 4-cylinder didn't come out until this year and I really haven't seen any of them. it's not in my databasae yet lol.
Totally understandable (part of my job is to know these things, figured I'd pass on)
I think Matt and I have the same taste in everything. Mini's, Rolex GMT's and Macans!
There is almost no cargo room in the back of that thing with the seats up. The rake on the rear hatch really cuts into the space. But that was the only gripe I had. Great little SUV. Drives like a sports car, until you need it not to.

I believe your Focus RS actually has more usable cubic feet in the hatch. Freeing up all that space with the box certainly helps things.
no way dude, not a chance. My pelican case takes up more than 50% of the cargo space in the Focus, and it's only about 1/3 of the Macan. I haven't done an actual measurement, but based on looking at the two cars, the Macan is visibly bigger.

Your housemate has a good selection of Sirius XM stations. BPM and Electric Area!
Now that these can be had for 30ish, this is quite relevant
Actually the base Macan does not have the 3.0. It has a 2.0 I4.
The regular Macan actually gets the same 2.0T from the new "B9" Audi A4. The 3.0TT is only available in the S
Porsche and Tesla are killing it with the design though!
that interior looks delicious
Such a cool looking SUV
The Macan is a excellent all around car
Spot on description of how the Macan drives... esp compared to the more sedate Q5.
Has this guy been on rogan's podcast?
Kiril Zangagolev yes
Kiril Zangagolev yes he has been awhile back maybe twice. Once with sharkwerks guy and one other time
Great stuff Matt!
YESSS!!! The vintage T!!!! I'm getting one asap!
at least it wasnt another 911. What will porsche do next? a hot hatch?
I'd buy it.
the person that was responsible for the last 911 gt3 rs build the last Golf R.
I think they should make a cool front engine coupe, they could easily base one on the Panamera. They would have to ditch some serious weight though.
凹凸凹 this is essentially a hot hatch. It doesn't have the ground clearance.
Do you have a source on that? I'd love to read it.
It does look so nice!!! Only small suv that can compete to certain point is the edition 1 glc
Burgi Jr the sq5 too
can we get a one take on your cat
Winter tires are the best. Pilot Alpin PA4 doing great in CT on a Cayman S.
That car is a long way from home. Connecticut plates?
Vox Nihili nick is from CT and out in LA short term
"We get a little shafted in California.."
and the understatement of the millenia award goes to...
I absolutely love the new Macan Turbo S and Panamera Turbo S
i didnt know they made Macan Turbo S, not yet anyways
Mr La sorry I meant the S only the Panamera Turbo S
Mr La I don't think they have one yet. The newest is the Macan turbo with performance pack.
So the real question: Mecan S with the Cobb tune, or a Mecan Turbo?
I have the Same question
TheWallStreetReaper I had the same question about 3 years ago
@@Bahookers What did you decide Bahooki?
The Macan 3.0 Twin Turbo GTS is the one I just bought and its a freaking real Porsche and its fast!!!! even without the tune the thing runs 13.0 flat man.
That macan look nice

so you didn't wake up this morning because you have class or a job? neat.
Love your videos Matt. If you guys go to the snow again it would be great to see some footage in the snow or a short review of the Macan in the snow.

Thanks Matt for the video.good one.
Matt, the base Macan S is 340hp, not 300, so with the added 38hp, that Macan should be at 378hp.
Good morning everyone!
Every time it shifts it sounds like he hit the rumble strips hard
Fantastic exhaust note.
Forgot he was talking about the Stage 1 Tune when he said 38 HP. Confused me for a bit there
a few weeks ago I drove a macan gts to mammoth from LA. I don't know how you got 21mpg. I could only manage 15mpg without a box. yes, sustained high speed driving was a factor but I honestly didn't expect it to have worse MPG than my V8 E92 M3 on the highway.
Come on Mat, your turning your great show into one long Advertisement.
don't be dramatic. I'm selling merchandise to people who want to buy it in order to remain independent.
How does a SUV sound so good?! Thanks for the review Matt!
noiiaz96 bc a cars exhaust note comes from the engine not the looks of it
Ooooo I saw that 370z.. Cant wait to see that one.
I stuck a corn Cobb in the exhaust of a macan s. No increase in performance noted!
Is there a vid of this thing eating snow in Mammoth?
Dope whip
hey Matt, im in Northholly wood and would love to shoot some photos of one of your cars if you have the time, im here for a bout another week !
You make me want one - I'd love to know why you insinuated that the Cayenne had lost its shine ?? Top video!!
bruno condello - Macan is dynamically superior. Looks better and faster
Great take I’m Looking to get a used 2016 how’s the reliability?... let me know your thoughts
Nice commentary in the video. Can anyone confirm the model of Thule top box on the Macan? Perhaps the Flow model? Looks great!
damn.here in the UK we get up to 99 high octane
US/european octane ratings are dirrefent.
US 91 octane is EU 95, US 93 is EU 98 (And in some cases 95 US which is 99 EU)
How the hell can the rating be different. How long is a US metre?
Ron and octane are different I get that!
I really hope your gunna drive that Scion in the back too!
This thing sounds dope
Matt, I know it's a bit apples to pears, but for the money, would you take the top spec F-Pace or this Macan?
gothops154 fpace.
gothops154 I'm not Matt, but you need to see the f pace in real life. It's quite a lot bigger in comparison to the Macan.
As far as the looks go, the R sport in the best looking, the other trims just don't do justice and make the car look oddly round for, some angles.

X6M
If Matt would have sold his RS, he said he wanted an F-Pace so there's your answer
Nice review, thinking of getting Thule Box.
The base Macan is not a V6 . It has an Audi sourced four cylinders 2.0 liters engine.
hahahahaha loved the quick slip in of the cat!!
What about the cayenne as a fun/useful SUV that can also tow the track car?
I'm ordering that car right away! :D
order one for all of us^^
Wait... He is carving up the canyons in snow tires?
Actually the regular Macan has a four cylinder. Why is the car on ct plates but in ca? Is this legal?
Ervin Wu its more legal than driving with no plates like most people in LA Matts corvette when he had it had Georgia plates
Oh I didn't realize that they started selling the 4 cylinder in the US. I just looked at their website and there it is. 2.0 turbo with 252 hp for $47,500.
haha do they run others states' plates because the police can impound your car in ca? :D
Because Nick lives in CT and is in California for a short-term work gig. He's not required to move the registration for the short period of time.
Does the tune VOID THE WARRANTY?
Yes
Only if you don’t uninstall it before trips to the dealer, which the Cobb Accessport does if you want.
Would sidewall flex be the feeling of your car bouncing around back in fourth during high speed cornering? I've been noticing a lot of back and forth swaying feeling on my new bmw 535i when im pushing a highway ramp corner at higher speeds.

At Mammoth huh? I would love to see Matt Snowboard or Ski.
Did anyone ever find out what exhaust this is? I know he said it was eBay but it sounds amazing and I'm interested lol.
nice Cat, and I liked the Macan as a size for SUV, but I would be so happy if I could get the Turbo S Macan, even though this is turbo and has perfect power with the tune, but why not throw a bit more money, when you are doing it anyway, and get the Turbo with more CC and still a turbo, maybe bigger...
