Back in 2020 i decided to change my eating habits and try to lose some weight. Whithin that year i went from a size 20/22 to a size 12. When i had lost that weight i felt brave enough to show my grown up sons (I'm 51, by the way) a pair of my old jeans....that looked like they could fit two of me in and my sons ( all three of them) said....they never remembered me looking that big. I knew i had a weight problem and its amazing how it just creeps up on you, but, its not until you look back that you realise how far you have come and how well you have done because its not easy. Like you i didn't go on a diet, i didn't even exercise for personal reasons, it's everything in moderation and a lifestyle change otherwise its too unrealistic to stick to and just becomes a vicious circle of regaining and losing weight again and again. Im more lenient with myself now but have managed to stay at a size 12 even going through the menopause, i think eventually our body settles where its supposed to be....if that makes sense. Anyway ....you are looking great jess, ive followed your journey trying different methods and this way has definitely worked for you and i hope you are feeling good about it xx

🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻 yessss Jess! Absolutely love everything you have said in this video, 👌🏻it’s hard when you’re posting your foods for the day open for the public to critic and comment on, but you’re so right - when you bring it back to yourself, and do what ever it is that works for you, it starts to click. I’m totally on the train of listening more to my body too and not a huge fan of breakfast also but I always felt like I “needed” to eat breakfast and show that to be “healthy” and “balanced” so I totally relate to that. Well done you! I know it can be a bit 👀 to comment and support someone’s weight loss success but as someone who struggles with it, - I just want to say, you’re glowing, look amazing - and well bloody done 👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻❤️

Yesss Jess! Completely agree with the sentiment of this video. I’m going through therapy for a binge eating disorder and have yo-yo dieted for years. Im 39 years old and finally feel like I’m free of diets! I actually said to my therapist that I wish all teens were taught this stuff in school. Loving yourself from within is the first step and one I’m still trying to work on.

Love your new positivity about your life and weight. My problem with Slimming World is they teach you how to lose weight but not how to maintain it. I lost 3.5 stone with them in about a year and when I asked about maintaining they didn't really have an answer. I guess it's not good business for their members to keep the weight off!! Had to learn how to do it myself. I'm about half a stone heavier than my lowest weight but have maintained this for about 2 years now. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your journey 🥰😸

You look fab. I read fast like a girl a month ago nearly and have lost over half a stone. Theres so much excellent science about fasting especially following your monthly cycle. Ive realised i need a lot less of food then i think and i really listen to my body now. And realising how dangerous sugar is. I cut out alcohol as well which was big game changer. Really good video and well done.

Iv been in gym for 25 years and anybody looks compliments my body and drive but I myself have been through gym addiction food addiction, body dysmorphia ortharexia terrible self esteem . You never know know why people are there and what they are going through . I try encourage my friends to go gym if they want to go . Nobody cares .well done you really have improved your health and life the healthy way .at 50 Iv finally stopped tracking food and steps ect , I eat what I want when I want but 90% healthy as it makes me feel nice and I enjoy it I still go gym daily but sometimes walk . Walk in water , walk outside . But look after my muscles . I’m trusting myself and my body not watches and other people ! Intuition is amazing if we can tune in and listen to our body ❤

I've been on and off on a few diets over the years. I did keto and it did work. Until you get bored of the same foods and quit. Then end up piling the weight back on. Not good. I agree with everything u said as this is exactly how I think now. Diets are restrictive and don't last. Telling you to quit the gym was terrible advice too. They seem more bothered about numbers than actually being healthy and fit. Now I just keep as natural as possible. I enjoy walking the dog and bike riding. The gym is too boring for me. And I try and eat more fruit and veggies now with more protein to fill me up and will treat myself to lots of ice cream if I want to.

I’ve been on a similar journey to you Jess, and I think my piece of advice for anyone reading is that you have to do it for yourself, and it needs to come from a place of love rather than hate. Don’t lose weight because you hate your body or yourself (for having poor will power and that negative self talk of ‘worthlessness’). You will fail if your goal is to punish yourself.
Reframe the narrative: healthy eating and exercise because you deserve to look after yourself, you deserve to feel good in your skin, you deserve to feel strong, etc.
It is tricky but positive self talk is key!

I learned through therapy that body dysmorphia works both ways - it’s not just smaller people thinking they’re big. It’s the overall difficulty you have with seeing yourself realistically, your reality is skewed. It helped me so much to realise that because always felt guilty for not realising that I was larger than I thought 🥰

I've been a member of SW and got the exact response from joining a gym and upping my exercise and I would be a millionaire the number of times I got told drink more water I would have and always drink appropriately 4 litres a day . In the end it was so soul destroying I've not gone back and doing my own thing. I eat what or want live a normal life with no regrets. So thankyou again and take care jen xx

I believe body dismormphia goes both ways. Being a big person I also have no real idea how big I am until I see my reflection in public places and certain candid pictures. Since I tried losing weight I actually seek out those moments cause it keeps me motivated and reminds me to keep going. It always brings the public’s fat shaming back into context.

Hi Jess. I've been following you for a few years & love all your videos. Well done on your 3 stone+ weight loss, you look fabulous ❤. I hope you don't mind me making a couple of points. Weight Watchers do not "shame" members if they don't lose weight or gain weight. The whole ethos of Weight Watchers is about supporting our fellow members. I think you are fortunate that your lovely fiancé is very health conscious (& gorgeous 🤩🥰) & I'm sure is super supportive of your journey. A lot of us don't have that at home so we join a group. On WW you can eat anything & if you go to the gym or exercise you can eat more. All the proteins & fruits, veg aren't even counted so it's all about healthy eating. It's basically what you are doing at home already 😀. Fortunately you have someone who is there for you, & psychology is a big part of weight loss. Sending much love & love your videos (& seeing your handsome fiancé xxx)

I am also very lucky to have a supportive partner, though don’t get it confused he doesn’t eat healthy in the slightest 😂 it actually annoys me how he’s not the size of a house! 😂😂 I think if what you’re doing with WW is working for you then that’s amazing, keep doing it, a lot of people aren’t that fortunate ♥️♥️ thank you for the comment

Slimming World has definitely caused me so many food issues. I can’t ever get past the point of “it’s all or nothing”. I still remember how many syns things are, I still find it so hard to have milk/ cheese more than twice 😂 and bread ?? Forget about it !!! I’ll get there but it’s a slow healing process !!
My old leader asked a man who had hit target what his tips and tricks were, and he said that exercise helped. She whipped her head round like the exorcist and listed bullet points as to why that simply wasn’t true. This man was in the best shape he’d ever been, had ran several marathons, was the fittest of us all. That was the moment for me. It’s not about health for them, it’s simply what it says on the scales.

I felt the same about slimming world! Lost a lot of weight but got to a point where I was maintaining/ gaining a couple of pounds. The shame culture was awful, encouraged not to eat out, had to ‘book’ sessions off if on holiday, encouraged to buy the sugary slimming world bars and eat quark lol! It works short term but isn’t feasible!

This video is so great! And I've said those exact words put loud opposite body dysmorphia. And I'm sure I've heard similar advice before but it hasn't landed and felt real before. You've really planted a seed in me thank you. And you do look great and are inspiring!
If you ever do a follow up video, I've got questions: things like buying a large bar of chocolate or a box of 4 doughnuts are you able to save it til later if other half doesn't want to share or will you just finish it still? Or throw it away? Are you strong enough to keep "junk food" in the house and not have it? Or do you just buy a bit when you fancy it and then use it all and chuck the rest. I'm sure you get that I'm not trying to pry but these are things I struggle with...
    Well done! 😊 X

I love the honesty of this video. I feel exactly the same.....I keep buying bigger size clothes and not registering im actually getting bigger. Its madness. This video just shows that "diets" are utter crap unless you're willing to stick with them forever. Smart choices are the way forward. We're all human ❤❤❤

I know how you feel when it comes to gym anxiety. I jjoined the gym last week and I bought new clothes for it on Saturday and had plneed to go on Sunda.y. Sunday came I kept saying I will go in an hour I will go another hour, .I eventually left the house and started walking I got about half way and then started to feel ill and got a headache and so went back home so I never made it to the gym,. So tomorrow is another day and hopefully I will make it all the way to the gym. But I am anxious for all the same reasons you said and I just know I have to go either earlier or later times to help with getting used to it.

Get my fitness pal- put in the amount of protein you want to weigh- so say 130lbs. Put in 130g protein.
    Find a calorie calculator
And get your daily calorie intake - so say 1400calories. Protein and carbs are 4 cals and fat is 9. Carbs are not needed, fat is essential. So 1400-(520 protein) 880 cals left) 55g fat (women need at least 35g a day)(495cals)+(520 cals protein)=1015
So remaining cals 385/4 (cals per gram of carb) 96g
So your macros would be 1400 cals 130g protein, 55g fat and 96g carbs
You’ll lose weight easy by prioritizing your protein - I swear!❤

You've done really well and I'm glad you got something that works for you, 24 hour gyms are so good. but I'm surprised SW told you to stop exercising, your leader needs reporting tbh so she is retrained as it sounds like she is running a different place. I always heard them explain you can gain fluid and to just chill and it will catch up with the weight losses etc. SW consoles when you gain and offers help not shames, so that too is a red flag you got a rogue one. I did a few different classes in different places over the years after having my kids, and found it most supportive. Just a shame copious amounts of chocolate wasn't a diet or I'd be slim for ever.
