Yeah I met someone from a leopard country. Absolutely could not understand how we liked or admired big cats like tigers, leopards, lions etc. Said they were absolute murderous monsters.
I would have thought many living in a country with a leopard would have thought that or similarly, and therefore never let their dog sleep alone outside.
Imagine seeing that video the next day...

We had a raccoon as a pet when I was a kid. Can confirm he was an agent of chaos. He used to steal everybody's keys, change, anything shiny and hide it. He harrassed the dog non-stop and enjoyed rearranging cabinets at all hours. I remember when we got a new couch the old one was crammed full of all kinds of treasures. I miss that little menace so much.

My uncle had a raccoon that he would feed his leftovers of the dinner from the night before, every night.
      He named him Spy.
Spy started to come up to the house and watch TV through the window. Eventually my uncle left the window open and then she would come into the couch with my uncle. They watched mostly star trek.
She was awesome. She brought her babies to his house and they'd all share dinner until they got older and gradually left Momma Spy. When my uncle died she came around for weeks looking for him.
I still think about Spy all the time.

ILOVE this woman's sense of humor. Im so pleased I just discovered her yesterday. She sees what's actually going on. She doesn't get overly moralistic, while being totally pro animal. She understands that people make their own choices and is willing to be delighted by human insanity as well as all manner of animal behavior. She also clearly points out any wise actions that actually occur. She's an absolute delight.

My great grandfather had a duck that was bonded to him. It was an alcoholic. I expect they both were. At the end of tge day, he'd bring the duck to the rural Minnesota bar with him where the duck's favorite imbibement was beer. There are so many rules now, and so much hateful cancellation culture. Those were the good old days.
Sure he made his duck an alcoholic, but they had a good time together. They brought joy and fascination to so many Norwegian and German bachelor farmers. And the duck could fly, but he never flew away. He just followed his person around wherever he went.

Here in Wyoming we have just a few simple rules when in bear country....#1. make noise when walking, hikers wear little bells on their boots, bear attacks are 99% you spooking the bear. #2. be aware of your surroundings at all times and carry bear spray. #3 learn the different scat (poop) of animals....see poop on the trail beware, bear scat is easily recognized ....black bear poop will consist of barriers, nuts and bits of fur, grizzly bear poop will contain tiny little bells and smell like pepper spray.....

I'm both someone who freshly found your amazing content *and* a Finn (surprise surprise) so I can roughly translate what the man in the clip at 5:50 is saying, in order:
    - *"Fook off ya ain't touching that devil be damned"*
    - (referring to his dog) "Hugo my boy"
    - "Imma smack ya with this broom 'ere if ya come over 'ere god dammit."
Bears, like us, get spooked by sudden and very loud noises so the initial flight response comes from that. It's possible the bear didn't attack later on because it thought that the noise came from the house/cabin and not the man inside. As for the dog, well, certain breeds of dog were actually bred specifically to fend off bears away from their owner.

no matter what animal experts that say animals don't want to escalate things. there are lot of animals just wants to attack everything. animals aren't perfect just like humans are not perfect. saying a certain animal don't want to escalate or attack human with no reason is pretty arrogant of them to say. just like there are lot of killers that killed human with absolute no reason. animals sometimes kill humans with no reason

07:54 I burst out laughing- this poor mama is JUST. TRYING. TO. CROSS. and the cubs are not making it easy. She has to go back for one, hopes the other stays put but it doesn’t and “OH for goodness’ sake… I’ve only got one set of jaws!” … anyone who’s cared for two or more kids can understand! Except her babies are in more danger!
I kind of saw this yesterday in human form: a man holding his baby son in one arm and lifting his older daughter out of the cart to maneuver her into the seat while being careful to neither squeeze or dangle either kid- it was artful. He was calm and patient, gentle. I told him he was a “super-Dad.”

Something I love is that spiders use the same technique on humans that we try to use on bears. They wave their arms in the air and rear back on their hind legs and are effectively saying in spider language "AAAAAHHHHHHHH IAM VERY BIG AND SCARY!!!! RUN AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE." And it just really endears me to spiders. I had a huntsman I was removing from my sisters bathroom do a threat display at me, and I just thought it was very cute.

Finn here. About bears. One of our nicknames for bears is otso, and bear in spanish is ozo. Also sealion/cow is morsa in spanish and mursu in finnish. Also basil, which is called albahaca in spanish, is called basilika in finnish. Compound of the two.
Also the guy with the broom yelled: "Hugo come here!" (The dog). Then he said f off dogg dnmt.

I had a big tray of scented candles on the floor....didn't stop them. Cedar shavings didn't help. Mothballs are making me sick more than bothering them. I would really appreciate a program with pointers, Ann !.

It is written that the way to tell a black bear from a grizzly is to sneak up and give it kick, then run and climb a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it was a black. If it pushes the tree over and eats you, it was a grizzly.

As a kid, I had a park ranger take me and a bunch of other kids out to his SUV to see the muddy paw prints on the windows. He’d left doughnuts in his SUV overnight. The window was just barely open, so he figured the bear could smell the food and was trying to get it. I saw the size of those prints and knew I’d never want to go up against a bear. Some years later, my biology teacher brought in a black bear skin. It just furthered my resolve.

The only thing that she didn't mention about monkeys being dangerous is something that I don't think most people don't think about - their teeth. Many primates have very dangerous canine teeth and can do great damage or even kill, with or without intentional provocation.

One of my favourite 'When animals attack' vids concerned an older couple going out camping and spotting a mama bear nearby, with her cubs, as they arrived. The husband decided he was going to take some pics and followed them. They found his camera. He did get some great shots, including the ones where it became obvious that mama was leading her cubs to higher ground and swatting their butts to run uphill - before turning around to deal with this pesky human stalker. What cracked me up (because I'm an awful person) was his wife & her flat-toned, nonplussed, voice saying, "I dun tole him not to folla that beah"

With regard to monkeys… contrary to your assumption that’s monkeys are not murderous toward humans, I lived in India where they have often attacked and ripped the limbs off of children playing in the streets. This is NO LAUGHING MATTER despite your giggles. Nor is it funny to see them attacking the elderly, despite your laughter at the fact.

I know we don't have bears where I live but we do still have dangerous animals where I live. Moose are heavy and like bears, they are always ready to protect their kin and will not hesitate to charge you if it feels threatened.
