FUN FACT: Koalas are the only non-human occupants of Australia which are ‘frontal’ mammals - it tends to have a face rather than a muzzle. Scientists think their front expression may explain why we find this animal so cute! If you like our vids hit subscribe: ab.co/2YFO4Go
I have heard of a story of an intoxicated person who picked one up and stuck it in his car, they think it had been dazed from a collision or similar.. but it woke up in his car while he was driving and went absolutely mental on him, clawing and biting, and absolutely shredded this poor bloke who had to get taken to hospital. This is the land of everything that kills you, our fluffy cute furry wildlife need defence mechanisms from such too.
In North America we've been making access tunnels and overpasses so wildlife has a way to get to the other side without actually crossing the road. They are built or dug in conjunction with migration trails and are very affective in lowering the number of animals being killed.
We have them too. Also possum bridges. Only trouble is koala are not known for their intelligence and they often don't use them Wombats tend to do better.
The story from the lady who filmed it, was that the bigger one a male kicked the smaller one out of the tree so it could have the tree for mating calling. It kicked the smaller one out of the tree several times, but in the end the smaller one won the tree later in the day.
The way some people think about animals is mystifying to me. Yeh they're cute but they often won't think twice about trying to remove any appendages you feel entitled to stick in their face or scritch that cute little chin with. Often what you interpret as friendliness is more likely abject terror or shock and you are not being kind to that animal at all.
I have recurring nightmares about koalas that slowly make their way into my room at night, while I’m paralysed in bed, and they one by one crawl up and sit on my bed and stare at me.. then they start to growl.. first quietly.. then louder as more sit at the end of my bed.. eventually there are a dozen or more, and a cacophony of grunting and wailing, until they all jump at me at once and I wake up screaming.. maybe i should stop sleeping with eucalyptus leaves under my pillow! Though they smell so good… The leaves… not the koalas.
Fun presentation, even if it included quite a few widely disseminated, previously viewed external clips. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have lived with multiple resident / passing koalas at five different addresses - one of those a 10-hectare native sanctuary on the edge of regional suburbia, part of a major corridor and where we planted 300 food trees. Four other koala-shares were seriously "bush" blocks. There were many nights when our furry friends' honking and screeching - often mere metres from the house! - kept us all awake, but we didn't really mind because we could be noisy "at it" too, LOL I still have a photo of me, age 3 (1954), holding a koala (almost half my size!) at Queensland's Lone Pine Sanctuary. The koala was far cuter than yours truly. Ha! Back then at Lone Pine they kept socially re-engineered German shepherds that ferried the koalas around on their backs - for the amusement of visiting peasants such as us. The poor critters (dogs included) must have been on a daily dose of valium or largactyl to so completely contain their natural animosities and instincts. We can only hope - and help where possible - that our now seriously threatened koalas (thanks to the Black Summer bushfire season) will get over that huge hump and once again thrive - without being made too "human friendly". Cute AF they be, but pets they are NOT. Thanks for the vid!
I watched the one video where the one Koala was crying after being booted from the tree before watching here. IF who I watched was the original video post, they said the one on the ground and cryer, they believed was the juvenile being booted by Mom at weening age!
I agree with the bowl of water suggestion since that would also allow you to place the water where the koala can get to it and you can remain at a safe distance for you and the koala. ❣️
First and Foremost - Dangerous and "Deadly" are two different things. A lion, tiger, Chimpanzee - just a few examples of wild animals that CAN kill you....a koala bear is NOT going to kill you, but it CAN hurt you. Anything with teeth and claws can be dangerious. There is a video here on youtube of a Koala bear biting a girl on the shoulder. She was'nt "seriously" injured....but it did hurt. Hearing her yell "OW!" kinda gave me that impression. I would admire their cuteness, possibly give them food or water, but I ain't picking one of these things up....nope.
I have just completed writing a distance education Discussion Group course 'Wombats, Wattle, Wilderness, World Heritage and Wellbeing' for the Workers Educational Association and the Colong Foundation for Wilderness. . . .so of course I was very interested in your quiz and video about Wombats. My challenge is writing this Discussion Group was how to connect wombats to wattle, wilderness, World Heritage and wellbeing? My most amazing discovery was that one of Australia's most rarest animals - the Hairy-nosed Wombat - is in the Epping Forest Scientific National Park . . which is very close to the Adani mine proposal. Why are we not talking about the Hairy-nosed Wombat more?
Fun fact: Clown from slipknot is actually terrified of Koalas. He said in an interview that those gutteral growls give him the creeps. It's the only thing that actually freaks him out.
Kill us with cuteness. Or chlamydia. But you probably won't die of chlamydia, so it doesn't count. I still wanna know how it got into that guy's car, but.

There is no volume carnt here you of the koala
Fascinating
No even their rear expression is adorable, side , too, bottom too.
They're cute -- from the neck DOWN! Hate their faces.
After hearing that one growl I understand why they were called "bears."
koalas could be great death metal vocalists
\m/ if only. what a marketing ploy it'd be
Underrated comment

Yes agreed, koalas are a danger to the human race.
They let u pet them...but still vicious

Only in Australia. Carjacked by a Koala. Not sure the insurance company covers Koala damage. 😁

Quite a bit of domestic violence going on in that first clip they might want to consider getting some legal advice
right
They look cute however I never forget their double thumb and strong, long claws. Tread with a high level of caution people.
😄😄 the crying koala is looking like, "Did anyone see this! It aint fair"
😀
4:50 It's trying to get away, but there is a weird invisible wall in the way.

SO CUUUUTE - and dangerous, obvs
this video is mindblowing…it helpd refresh my mindset of the "cute, gentle" koala
After an episode of patgeo, this is where I come to heal lol
We Stan Ann! ❤ she’s so knowledgeable and fun to watch!
Ann is the girl next door of the world and we love her (and the animals too) but...combined....intoxicating.
2:03 I’ve always wondered the backstory to that crying koala
Frauds, pathological liars making up animals to deceive people and financially take advantage of them.
Koalas aren’t real.

That female kooala bear is so cute I just wanna pick her up and hug her.
They aren't bears. They are marcipials. They have pouches
Thanks! Learn a lot that I didn’t know about Koalas 👍
Should've told that koalas do spread out klamydia so another reason not to approach them.
I kept expecting the koala's to bite the persons. They are cute. Love these video's with Dr. Ann Jones

My guess is maybe the koala got spooked by something and is trying to find a place to retreat to. The guy needs to leave him alone.
