Fishing Walleye in Strong Wind with Bottom Bouncers | Kids Fishing Essay Winner

Spencer Deutz from Fargo, North Dakota holds several youth fishing clinics each year that introduce hundreds of kids to fishing. Many of these events are held at the Fargo Scheels location. Kids learn about knots, fish biology, boating safety and aquatic nuisance species.
This past season, in conjunction with the youth fishing clinics, there was an essay contest where the kids wrote essays about what they learned at the clinics and the winner was able to join Jason Mitchell on Devils Lake. Raemi Sayler won the essay contest and caught well over forty walleye in about three hours of fishing.
Up to thirty mile per hour winds this particular day. The fish were caught with bottom bouncers and Northland Tackle Butterfly Blades baited with leeches. The fish were relating to rocks on a submerged road ditch in 9-12 feet of water.
