I love your passion for tea. I just took up tea after realizing I was a coffee addict. Made myself a matcha latte today and impressed the whole family to boot. In many Asian grocery stores, they sell a square gold colored tin of jasmine green tea. it is consistently wonderful and scents the room. The price is fair, too. I used to work in a tea room, but that jasmine green tea brand is still one of my favorites.

Thanks for sharing this video - it was very informative. I have never drank alcohol and have found myself jealous of friends who talk about the complex flavours of wines and whisky (my national drink). +chinalife Tea House hi thanks for the reply! I wondered if you could recommend a tea for me? I am a bit of a Neanderthal, I love cola lol Som im looking for a flavoursome tea

    • @MeiLeaf
      @MeiLeaf  8 лет назад +4

Ian Buchanan we would very much recommend you to stay away from anything artificially scented - they may have a strong smell but they are not good quality tea and lack real flavour. For teas that have more of an 'instant appeal' we would recommend you going for Oolongs.
Something like Eastern Beauty (chinalifeweb.com/shop/product/tea-eboc/86/) or Royal Peach Orchid (chinalifeweb.com/shop/product/royal_peach_orchid/86/) are more on the fruity side of things. Superior Iron Goddess (chinalifeweb.com/shop/product/tea-sgoc/86/) and Alishan Cream (chinalifeweb.com/shop/product/tea-acoc/86/) are creamier and more flowery.
We have high quality and all natural blends for more of an instantly aromatic brew and these use the same premium tea as we sell loose so you know it is the best tea (chinalifeweb.com/shop/category/signature-blends/).

This kind of humor is called absurdist humor. That is, if a statement or situation seems absurd, it becomes funny.
But the truly funny thing is that only the ignorant would regard such a statement as absurd,
So, it is those who laughed who gave the foundation to be laughed at.

Thank you for the amazing video. I didn't think I was going to watch such a long video, but when I discovered how calmly and clearly you explained it, I had to watch it all. It was super informative.
I knew that teas were basically from the same plant but that the processing was different, but thanks to you I now have a way better understanding of how these processes are different.
I had never heard of Yellow tea before.
I didn't know how Jasmine tea was made. I bought Jamine tea with flowers in it before and it just didn't taste good. I love the jasmine dragon pearls, just the smell you get from them when you open the bag or box is already so heavenly. But they're definitely not cheap, when I buy them I only drink them occasionally as a treat to myself. Now that I know how labor intensive it is, I'm more okay with spending a bit more money on some good Jasmine tea.
After seeing your explanation, I finally get why I never liked Pu'er tea before, I'm not a super fan of earthy tastes. That being said, I don't think I've ever had a higher-grade Pu'er tea, i think I mainly had the supermarket bought teabag Pu'er tea. So if I ever come across a better quality Pu'er tea, I'll give it another try.

Here are the different tea sorts
White tea - the least processed is not literally that light although it was once investigated for health benefits. Though it is high in antioxidants - it has never been proven the best for health or flavor. Green tea is a bit more fermented - it is stronger than white and actually a healthy tea. Often like raw chocolate once deemed the healthiest - some say black is as good (as is dark chocolate over unprocessed). Black tea is more fermented and puerh the most. Though some are more caffeinated, others are still low in it. Black tea has many health benefits and other beneficial chemicals from the fermentation. Whereas green may be the highest in certain antioxidants, black is healthiest for certain fermentation chemicals not found in the other sorts

I am always confused about white tea, as I have seen many white tea types which look like Pu'Er, rather than Green Tea, and mostly taste extremely flavory in scent. The color is very brown though, and it is best when older, at least 4-6 years old, according to Chinese tea experts. Any thoughts on that?

Instead of naming the color, why not give us the Manufacturer's name...Like chamomile, Orange, Butterscotch and just plain Lipton etc. Also...Why not write the names and generic name next to the white containers for us "Mortal Brain Dead" tea drinkers, so we can go down town and pick it up at our Super Markets! Did this sink in? I sure hope so, because there are only three of so color named teas on the shelves, with the exception of Oolong! Why is that? HELP! And where in the world of Tea does Oolong stand...as a MUTT, Restaurant or Thoroughbred tea? MORE HELP HERE!

So if white tea isn’t baked/steamed then what stops it from quickly oxidizing? I’m assuming there is much care in picking to not bruise it, but that alone still leave that enzyme active. Am I missing something? Green tea sounds just like white except green is baked/steamed quickly to halt oxidization?

I think white tea does continue to oxidize but slowly, so it can be aged.
