Hiya other punky anarchist offspring fans ;) The fact that they've done this song twice, and now they will be able to revisit it again is the absolute worst inheritance we punk offspring loving parents in our 40s and up now are leaving to gen alpha children. Sorry kids. Nothing got better. can put out a third is
This song seems to be one of many predictions that the invasion of Iraq by the United States was coming, but the initial version is Terhan and was changed for the Rock Against Bush album. The movie "Bulworth" by Warren Beatty, released in the 1990's, also referred to "sending children to Iraq to get that oil money." And when it finally happened, the orchestrators initially called the invasion Operation Iraqi Liberation: O.I.L. And they changed it after realizing what the acronym spells...the real reason for the invasion.
its actually the same exact song...dexter and noodles just went back and forth on whether it should be about baghdad or tehran because both would apply when the song was written so the lyrics are vaguly different at some parts but overall its the same song
@xmorbid16x The lyric is: "The president said let it ride! Islam be Damned Make your last stand In Baghdad" Later: "The Captain said Kill or Die! Islam be damned Make your last stand In Baghdad" He's paraphrasing what the government officials are essentially telling our soldiers before they are sent out to die.
@dexterbadahmad ummm... no. Yes, the words "Islam be damned" are in the song, but in making sense of them you need to put it in the context of the song. This song isn't exactly a celebration of ideas like "our flags are burning" or "our casualty is just a number" or "Islam be damned." The song is, by my interpretation, a statement against those ideas by exposing them as repellant. Come on now. Let's use our heads and not our hypersensitive gut reactions in the absence of thought.
I think they never changed anything. This album went out in 1989 and the first demo for this song is from 1988. 'guess they just made two versions because from 1980 to 1988, both Iraq and Iran were fighting each other, with the USA selling weapons to both parts and make big Buck$ from the Oil Busine$$ already. So that's why there are two versions. What's interesting and upsetting is that the lyrics are still valid today, 32 years after, wether w the Tehran or the Bhagdad version
So, this is Baghdad. They re-recorded Tehran as Baghdad for the Baghdad 7” EP in ‘91 and then Fat Mike grabbed it for Rock Against Bush Vol 1. This is actually on the EP that got them signed to Epitaph, too.
It is the shittiest gift we genxEldermillenial 40yr olds gave our children - this song can have a 3rd and further reboots. Shame on US. I have done a cabaret belly dance to this song. I will again Audiences need to feel this song and sit with it...esp "our flags our burning."
hmm ... there is not very much different about this song and teheran i think the only things that were chanched are that teheran was replaced with bagdad ... and maybe some changes in the end of the song ... that´s all
@wheezdajuice Everybody needs a job, but are you willing to risk losing your mind and raping innocent Afghan girls like they do know days.....? I've met Iraq vets, trust me they feel used for a bad cause :/
The OFFSPRING THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD
This is the most badass song they ever made.
Honestly.
Their vinyl was the absolute bomb
KTP is pretty good too
1. KTP, 2. Behead, 3. Tehran

I don't know how this band made it alive but I'm so glad they did xD ♥
The beginning sounds like a Dead Kennedys riff
hundred percent, i cant hear anything else

The U.S. had already fought Iraq in the 90s, they didn’t “predict” anything. It was a response to the gulf war
Their best.......love that march
They should totally make a new version of this song with the lyrics changed slightly to reflect the upcoming war with Iran.
Holt Westling Teheran would be a good name choice.
@@vercingetorix2923
The original of this song is on their first album released in the 80s.
It's just called Tehran.
@@ElDannySA91 my comment was ironic lol.
@@ElDannySA91 r/whoosh

this song is awesome
iiiiiin Teeeeeeeehraaaaan
i'm a muslim and i love this song.
Στα αρχιδια μας
@SelfEsteemSMASH Yeah a couple of words in the lyrics as well as the whole track being slower. It is also more fully produced. I still prefer Tehran.
what shit the man speaks da truth
The offspring has so many hidden gems
the reason it sounds close 2 pay the man is because (i think) the riffs were inspired by middle east music
In the start it sounds almost like
Pay The Man somehow... really nice song btw.
2:36 - 2:42
Dude, that's literally a metal riff
@xmorbid16x

"The president said let it ride!
Islam be Damned

"The Captain said Kill or Die!
Islam be damned

CRUSTY DEMONS OF DIRT!
The USA military death machine rumbles on in the middle east to this day
ma questa non è tehran?!?!?!
cacchio non trovo più questo cd!
Hmm does tehran seem like it's a tad faster than this song?
Comment for the memories, AC Mirage
this is from like 89
87?
why did they change it from tehran to baghdad?
+IBM Official When Saddam invaded Kuwait in 1990 and we entered the Gulf War
I guess to make it more relevant to the times, after the Gulf War started in the 1990s
To release on the rock against busj compilation
@@_nullzy You mean when amuricans find and excuse to invade a country full of oil?

never heard of that
@FordMan055 Umm, the lyrics are meant to be taken as satire. He's being sarcastic.
Lots of security would have to be around them, I'd imagine xD
Tehran
didn't know this song had a title ok
@wheezdajuice You do realise this song is anti-war...right?
Tehran - Baghdad perfect hahaha
i think 91
...then the US invaded Iraq vis-a-vis Desert Shield/Storm
Ah yes, 1990 gilman st
It’s not Bagdad it’s Terhan but this is cool.

Not really. Obama and Romney both claim that action must be done if Iran continues its nuclear program.
