    I just completed this by watching the video. I unbeaded one side of the front tire using a lever, took the tube out, then beaded it back by hand, leaving a small unbeaded section near the valve stem. I then put the front wheel back on the bike, with the bike flipped upside down, re-creating the wheel holder used in the video. I poured 3 oz of sealant in, and beaded it back on the wheel. With the wheel/tire still on the bike, I sprayed soapy water along both sides of the tire bead. I used a regular floor pump, pumped it up to 40psi, and heard the "pop pop pop" sounds, which was very satisfying to hear.
    The rear tire was not as easy, this is because I changed to a new tire, so I unbeaded the old tire completely, took it off, took the tube out, and put a new tire on. I got both sides of the tire bead on the wheel, left the small opening near the valve stem, then put the rear wheel on the inverted biked, chain on the cogs and all. I then poured the sealant in, beaded the last remaining section. Sprayed with soapy water and began to pump. I pumped and pumped but the air just leaked out from the tire bead. No amount of pumping had any effect on the tire being pumped up. I knew about using C02 but had never used it. I grabbed a C02 cartridge and the valve adapter, put the adapter on the valve stem, screwed the C02 on as tight as I could, nothing happened. I then backed the C02 out slightly and BOOM, the whole tire inflated and went "pop pop pop". That was really cool to see that work out.
    The reason the first tire was easier was because I hadn't unseated the other side of the bead. The new tire was on the wheel but very loosely, or at least looser than the front tire had been. Hope this helps anyone. I am not the greatest DIY'er, so I feel pretty good that I was able to overcome the rear tire challenging me.

      I had the same problem when i did it, however it was due to my tyres being very loose on the wheel even though they had been mounted for a long time (the rims are very narrow) i am just fortunate enough to have an air compressor. if i did not have an air compressor i would have probably had to invest in CO2 cartridges or one of those pumps with the extra chamber that you pump up, kind of like a manual air compressor. Good to know C02 does work though for future reference. I can say i wouldnt suggest using C02 if there is already sealant in the tyre as i have heard this can cause the sealant to harden inside of the tyre.

    Does that injector work with Stan's race sealant? No way I am going to break the bead on the side of the road to add sealant.

    I purchased 29ers maxxis hookworm tires, not sure if they’re tubeless specific. Can I put those tires on Stan’s rim??

    Does it work if tyre has a small hole in it? If not, what is point of sealant? Cheers

    I have been told that the sealant loses its effectiveness after about 6 months. Should I just top up with fresh Stans sealant or should I remove the tire clean out the old sealant and replace with new sealant? thanks

      Really depends on your environment, it definitely doesn't hurt to partially remove your tire so you can visually inspect your sealant!

      Hey there! A new bottle of sealant should not be leaking, but any liquid sealant in the bottle should still be usable.

    So you underinflate, shake the wheel around so the sealant can seal the rim. When can you inflate to normal psi?

    • @simonswift1262
      @simonswift1262 2 года назад

      Once you've sprayed the outer tyre wall, place the pump, i use a track pump, pump to your desired psi straight away, don't panic if sealant leaks, keep pumping and the tyre will 'pop' into place

    I dont get the "tech tip" using that algorithm I should inflate my tires to 28psi? that seems wrong. way too low?

    • @notubes
      @notubes  7 лет назад

      Hi, That Tech tip was not clear enough, That would work for a 2.0" to 2.2" tire. But if your tire is smaller that formula would not apply.

    Is this done only when the tire is newly installed?

    • @notubes
      @notubes  4 года назад +1

      Hey Kevin! You will need to add more sealant periodically as it dries out. Tyically an application of sealant will last anywhere from 2-7 months depending on conditions.

    Quick question -- when I pressure-up I get a few of the nice big cracks (50psi) however I give the wheel a spin & it's got a bit of a wobble -- like the bead's not properly set in one spot. Any tips to overcome this?

    • @brodiehaward
      @brodiehaward 5 лет назад

      This is an old comment so i figure you have resolved it, but id like to suggest insuring that your rim is true (perfectly round) or that it is fully seated onto the bike. Those are the only two things i can think of. As i said you have probably fixed it already, so out of interest what was the issue in the end?

    Basically another brand video telling you to buy everything that's theirs and to never do anything different ever even if it's proven to work well.
