I've been a fan of Sangonomiya Kokomi since I first saw her thanks to her aesthetics, personality, Hydro vision, and unique premise of not scaling with Crit. Throughout the story, she alliviates people's problems, directs them through battle, and boosts her army with her sole presence. She commands respect, and serenity.
I thought I knew what I was signing for: an amazing support-healer with outstanding military prowess. She can't crit, but she posesses a 10 seconds window for releasing all the might of Watatsumi granted by Orobashi to the Sangonomiya Clan --to protect those who dwell in Watatsumi Island, and destroy those who dare hurt them.
Keep in mind that I am C1 with Everlasting Moonglow. Upon playing her, however, she feels so... underwhelming. And trust me, I'm no meta-slave. I main DPS Sucrose. But she just heals less than some 4-star healers, while providing you with no support outside of enabling Wet status. Let's compare her with Barbara. Barbara's "Let the Show Begin" heals the active character, allows her normal and charged attacks to heal the whole team, and reduces the Stamina consumption of the active character by 12% for its duration while also extending its duration every time the character gains a particle for a max of 5 seconds.
Kokomi? She has a cute bake-kurage that dances, heals, applies Wet, and... yeah, that's it. No morale boosts-- no atk increase, no stamina consumption decrease, no elemental dmg bonus, nothing.
During Nereid's Ascension, she feels amazing. Her damage is decent, her attacks start healing the whole team, and it scales with her Max HP + Healing Bonus. The problem? Barbara already does this with her ability. Sure, she doesn't gain a damage increase, but she can be built with Crit and deal the same damage as Kokomi inside her ult.
She lacks support capabilities, and damage in and outside of her ultimate. So what's wrong with Kokomi? Her talents.
-Flawless Strategy sacrificies a whopping 100% crit rate for a mere 25% healing bonus
-Song of Pearls only grants you 15% of extra damage based on her healing bonus during Nereid's Ascension.
-Tamanooya's Casket just resets the on-field cooldown of her already useless bake-kurage.
How can MiHoyo fix this without erasing Kokomi's unique trait of -100 crit rate?
-Give Flawless Strategy more Healing Bonus. If you're sacrificing 100% crit rate, give us at least 50% healing bonus.
-Allow Song of Pearls to grant more damage based on Healing bonus inside the ult, and add two new effects: allow her attacks to scale with healing bonus outside of her ult, and make it so that her Normal, Charged, and Plunging attacks scale with her Max HP, similar to the rework made to Zhongli in 1.3
- Give Tamanooya's Casket a new effect that either decreases the stamina consumption when active, grants the active character a boost in their atk, or in elemental damage. This effect can also be further boosted within Nereid's Ascension.
- This one is a stretch, but she's a mermaid. Give her a special swimming annimation!
-Hydro resonance is just bad. The healing bonus provided by the resonance doesn't buff Kokomi for some reason. And that shouldn't even be the effect, because not all hydro characters are healers (looking at you, Tartaglia and Mona). A rework of this resonance is due.

To me, Brbr's ability to resurrect a character, or Noelle's shield are perfect solution to "oh shi-" moments. I really never need a dedicated healer when I have Noelle or Jeen included into revolver rotation.
Watatsumi Island's OST is giving me that melancholic, nostalgic vibe. One of the best OST in Inazuma.

She's a healer that can't crit, but has an offensive skill and a hyperoffensive burst that seems to double her damage.

Well, you could just build straight attack and hp I guess… that’s two less stats to worry about when artifact farming at any rate.
Moga had a video that did this. You can crit with her, you just have to get over her -95%..... I guess at that point she became a healer that can attack, given that she is built well.

The idea is that, don't build her crit. Just give her tons of hp/healing bonus because her damage is scaling from that. But yeah, her multiplier is probably not enough to compensate being a support that takes so much time on the field. I guess mihoyo doesn't want Kokomi to be too op for new player. But still

If Kokomi wants to strike hard while minimalizing casualties, she'd somehow come up with the Canadian equivalent of Blitzkrieg. bro she can easily be a dps. hydrp ascension works w her bc shes a catalyst and almost every buff she gets scales off her HP, and HP% and HP are stats everyone loves to complain abt during artifact rolls. she doesnt need to crit bc her scaling is already off the charts. its actually good to have a unique character like her who can both be a reliable dps AND healer. her healing bonus gives her a buff w her 4th ascension passive which further proves she can serve both roles quite well.
people complain about qiqi because she's solely a healer and doesn't have a lot of utility outside of that. kokomi is both a healer AND a dps. she has plenty of utility
Tbh, the concept of a DPS who can also heal is incredibly interesting... If done properly, which unfortunately isn't the case for Kokomi

But the hate Kokomi is suffering is truly shocking, while she isn't a game breaking character, she is nice and does what she's supposed to do decently, I don't get why people hate her so much, probably because she was also poorly written in the story.

Her attacks cannot critically strike, but her HP-based damage scaling means she could possibly hit fairly hard even without crit :O
I've heard from Asia/Europe bros that the -100% Crit was additive instead of multiplicative, so in the end she can actually crit if you give her enough Crit Rate.
If you ask me, that's kinda lame. Artifacts are horrible RNG so units that can make use of Artifacts that are otherwise considered useless for damage (i.e: Def% Sands of Eon for Noelle) is a good thing. If Kokomi's numbers are enough so her HP and Healing Bonus being converted to damage end up hitting as hard as your average Crit, that's really good for the game because that's one more mouth you can feed without needing a Crit circlet. But alas, since the Crit thingy is additive, people crazy enough will try to go for massive Crit Rate and make her Crit anyway

Mihoyo please make waterwalking her passive instead of decreased swimming stamina consumption. Honestly who is going to ult just to be able to walk on water for 8 seconds?
Also it would make her even more unique and fun to play and won't make her unbalanced when we are already able to make ice bridges through the water
If that's too hard they can just make her walking on water passive only active when running (like Mona/Ayaka, but only active on water) not too OP if they want to avoid traveling anywhere in the water on foot, but also unique enough. BUT we know Mihoyo team ain't that bright :s

Exactly, especially we have Beidou who not only has the passive too, but is easier to get and is faster than her due to being taller

They simply replaced the crit stat for the healing bonus stat. And it doesn't work off of chance. But it is probably not as powerful either. And there is only so much healing bonus you can built to increase her damage.

This character needs a buff, she really does , she is so underwhelming. Please just make her better. The fact that she deals no dmg while not healing a lot compared to other characters is just sad. My Barbara does more with way less investment. The only good thing about her are the Visuals.
