"As Milky ages, he doesn't like playing with other dogs, is this normal?"
Dogs generally will become insular and not enjoy socializing with unfamiliar creatures as they get older. This starts as they hit middle age (~5) so Milky is about at this age now. He may start appearing more nervous around unfamiliar people/places and avoid the kind of contact he would solicit as a younger dog.
Have you got something to back this up? Or just your experience / opinion? 😉

@isabel lind, yea contrasting with the snow there is some difference when usually he is so white but I thought it funny, Milky is so happy with the snow because he says, "This is the time of year where everything outside looks like me!!"🤣 I'm also glad GB made it through his appointment ok!

Maybe it helps to think that part of the vet‘s job is to reassure that everything is fine - she is happy to tell you there it nothing to worry about! I‘m really happy that BboBbo is fine again.
Is it possible that Milky spends more time with you and less with other doggies these days (maybe when he was a puppy you were more intentional with his socialising with dogs)...? Just a thought. He may be more protective of you and want to be only with you out of habit. My dog is similar and I'm trying to be more intentional with getting her to play with/meet other dogs... Sometimes I forget that socialisation is still very important even for adult dogs, not just puppies! Love to you all for the New Year! 🎉
I tend to agree with the above. I think he was being protective of you with the other dog(s). The more chances he has to play with other dogs the more he gets used to not always have to "check up on master" and just enjoy himself as a dog among dogs. .

Once the clean snow arrives you really notice how the fur is actually yellowish don't you! My older samoyed has that too but my younger girl is more clean white. You should give Milky a "snow wash" every time you go outside in the clean snow, it really brightens the fur and you don't need to wash him with shampoo that makes him more white. The playing thing depends on the dog, others play until they are very old and others don't like to be too close to other dogs after they become adults, like Milky who is now an adult. And samoyeds like to bark and howl and brawl a lot! And that is what they do when playing lol. Have a Happy New Year whole family!!! 💙
I can relate to how you feel. My cat is getting old, slowing down, meowing a lot. He very rarely meows all his life but now it’s all the time. I hope you get the 6 months you wished and more.

Watch out Milky, don't slip and tear ur doggie ACL aka CCL like my ol' doggo Bones slipped, on the hardwood floor, while we were playin fetch in the house (blue healer, tri color Australian Shepard all 45lbs of him) He was ok, seen by the vet, no visible damage cept for his sometimes limp that would always go away and return but the surgery was thousands, he was 98.9% of the time totally fine, and def happy boi, tho it would act up times he went running at full speed like a goof, in the fields or at the beach dunes like a goober. He lived a good 10yrs on earth with us. A rescue from streets of san Antonio Texas 🇺🇸 who was a gr8 pal and sidekick of mine for all those years. Let him be. If he only wants to play with you now. Nothing is permanent in our life. The one with us today, maybe gone tomorrow. So cherish everything. Play with him if that what he likes...🙂🙂🙂

You take him out more often now so that he socializes with other dogs , he needs to vent out his energy by running out and playing with other dogs

I'm glad to hear GB is fine. He still have his habit to breath with his mouth but as long as it's fine then it's ok. And Milky's really should be called "snow" coz he fit so well in the snow 😂

I have no idea why dogs do what they do, I'm a cat person. But if I had a dog I want one as kind and loving as Milky⛄.
GB still healthy! 🎉🎈🏆 he looked so beautiful and well mannered. Except for being in carrier. Most cats don't like being restricted, so I'm not surprised he picks at the sides. My cat picks on the carpet to sharpen his nails, I think.
I don't think Americans take as good of care of their pets as you do. You treat simple housecats like pedigree! 🇺🇸 Thanks!! 😊

I'm so happy that GB remains stable, bless him. I know the feeling with every vet visit, I hold my breath with my two senior cats, Angelina Jolie and Sophia Loren, and when the news is good, I breath a sigh of relief.☺️ We just got thru a nightmarish 6 months of health issues for two cats, $$ draining our pockets but I didn't care, order all the tests, get the medicated food and being thankful that surgery was not involved so now it's all calm! Breathing easy until the next vet visit. I love how Tan watches his brother closely, keeps his distance, probably knows he's been thru an ordeal, cat unspoken love!😻 And Mikey, what a white puff of love!!! I adore all these three!!! Thank you so much for sharing and a very happy new year to you, bro and these absolutely beautiful blessed fur babies!!!!❤️😻👏👏👏😹🐕🦺👍👍👍

i imagine being hungry doesnt help either :( despite this he seems to not be too horribly stressed if the owner is there which is good! a lot of cats would be hiding & too scared to come out of the carrier

@MilkyBokiTan, it's great to see the "big kid" having fun in the snow, lol. I'm glad GB is ok! As for Milky's behavior with aging, I think it best to talk to his vet. Otherwise we can only speculate as to whether it could be a normal part of aging for his breed. Could it be a chemical imbalance/depression, lack of social interaction etc.
In humans and animals we can see how "social anxiety"/lack of social interaction etc., can negatively affect the lives of people and animals. There are humans and pets for example who never like to leave their homes because home is a place of safety/security/familiarity. Of course when most humans need to go to school/work it's not always feasible to do that without needing to leave behind the safety/security/familiarity of home for long periods.
I can't speak for pets but for humans, a lot of this has to do with perceptions about self and surroundings and fears that this often invokes. It's not unusual tho for pets to exhibit similar behaviors. As someone who does like to watch those who are said to "train pets", they're often having to "train" the humans and retrain or reemphasize positive behaviors in the pets because as you rule out disease and other factors, often times the pet is just responding to how their owners have behaved. I would talk to his vet about these concerns to see if there is some unknown underlying cause.
